God chose me-I did not choose Him. I was a Christian by label only up until just a year ago. I cannot describe the very real and completely unprovoked pull that truly brought me to Christ. It’s like He led me from the darkness, and I was drawn to Him with a fervent magnetic attraction.

      You are correct.
      The Lord saved you.
Indeed, it is our Lord Jesus who saved you by sovereignly changing your heart and mind even while living in this perishing world.
So that, when you heard the message of His crucifixion and resurrection, your heart and mind were changed...
He did that...our Lord Jesus did that alone according to His plan He purposed for you before the creation of Creation.
That is why you may, and should, feel like you had nothing to do with that.
Our Lord Jesus chose you in that way before the creation of Creation to be among the first fruits of many sons and daughters who are to come and will be made known to all of Creation as our Apostle Paul told us in 1 Corinthians 15:51-57.
So then, continue with this testimony.
      But be wise...
There are many among us who testify to being believers but deny their salvation is solely, 100%, by a sovereign act of our Lord Jesus...
That warning aside, I understand your profound sense that all might, honor, and glory belong to our Lord Jesus, who is God forever praised.
He saved us from before the creation of Creation.

Total Inability or Total Depravity-Fall of mankind, the world-our human spirits are dead toward the living God of the Bible- Dead means dead. 100% All-Mighty Sovereignty of/from God only-100% gift only to make us born of God/from above.
Because of the fall, man is unable of himself to savingly have any repentance, faith, trust, believe in and for the
gospel. The sinner is dead, blind, and deaf to the things of God; his
heart is deceitful and desperately corrupt. His will is not free, it
is in bondage to his evil nature, therefore, he will not - indeed he
cannot - choose good over evil in the spiritual realm toward HIM. Consequently,
it takes much more than the Spirit's assistance to bring a sinner to
Christ - it takes regeneration by which the Spirit, THE LORD makes the sinner
alive and gives him a new nature, becoming a new creature in his/her spirit. The human spirit and God the Holy Spirit become and are one. Biblical Bible (OT and NT) Faith, Believing,Trust and Repentance is not something man
contributes to or towards salvation but is itself a part of God's gift of
Salvation which He Himself is - it is God's gift to the sinner, not the sinner's gift to
      God.
      2.
Unconditional Election-God fulfilled every jot-and tittle before HE created the universe and all that is therein has been created, made and put together. All we were and all sins deleted in our stead, in our place, as our substitute, for the "us."100% All-Mighty Sovereignty of/from God only-100% gift only
God's choice of certain individuals unto salvation before the
foundation of the world/universe is only of/from HIM and does rest solely in His own sovereign will. His
choice of particular sinner in all of human history since the fall was not based on any foreseen response or
obedience on their part, such as Biblical Bibel faith, believing, trusting repentance, etc. On the
contrary, God gives faith, believing, trusting and repentance to each individual whom He
selected/elected/chose/predestinated/ordained/called effectually ,etc. These acts are the result/outcome, not the cause of God's choice.
Election therefore was not determined by or conditioned upon any
virtuous quality or act foreseen in mankind. Those whom God sovereignly
elected He brings through the power of the Spirit to a willing
acceptance, choosing etc of Christ. Thus God's choice of the sinner, not the
sinner's choice of Christ, is the ultimate cause of salvation, which HE HIMSELF is.
      3.
Particular Redemption or Limited Atonement-100% only for those who are written in the book of the Lamb of God in eternity, the everlasting and the forever. Before the universe and everything in it was ever made and created.100% All-Mighty Sovereignty of/from God as a gift.
Christ's redeeming work was intended to save the elect/chosen/predestinated/called,etc only and
actually secured 100% Salvation for them which cannot be lost once obtained in time on Earth. His death and resurrection to Life unto all eternity was a substitutionary
endurance of the penalty of all sin/all fallenness in the place of certain specified
sinners. In addition to putting away the sins of His people, Christ's
redemption secured everything which is necessary for their Salvation, including
faith, believing, trusting and Repentance, etc which unites them to Him. The gift of faith, etc (above) is infallibly
applied by the Holy Spirit to all for whom Christ died and rose again. Therefore
      guaranteeing their Salvation.
      4.
The Efficacious Call of God the Spirit or Irresistible Grace-100% Roped and pulled in, drawn in, compelled by God alone, 100% All-Mighty Sovereignty of/from God only-100% gift only
In addition to the outward general call to salvation which is made to
everyone who hears the gospel, the Holy Spirit extends to the elect a
special inward call that inevitably brings them to Salvation. The
external call (which is made to all without distinction) can be, and
often is, rejected; whereas the internal call (which is made only to
the elect) cannot be rejected; it always results in conversion/Salvation. By
means of this special call the Spirit irresistibly draws sinners to
Christ. He is not limited in HIS work of applying Salvation by man's
will, nor is HE dependent upon man's cooperation for success/Salvation. The
Spirit graciously is the cause and effect in the elect sinner to as a result cooperate, to believe, to
repent, etc (see above) to come freely and willingly to Christ. God's grace
therefore, is invincible; it never fails to result in the Salvation of
those to whom it is extended/given(gift)offered,etc.
Salvation is accomplished by the almighty power of the Triune God. The
Father chose a people/persons from among the Hebrews and the Gentiles for whom the Son/Messiah died and rose again for them only. The Holy Spirit makes
Christ's death effective/efficacious by bringing the elect to faith and
repentance, etc (see above) thereby causing them to willingly obey the gospel. The entire process (predestination, election, redemption, regeneration,
glorification, etc) is the work of God and is by PT and NT (Same Salvation) grace alone. Thus God, not
man, determines who will be the recipients of the gift of Salvation.
      5
Guaranteed preservation and perserverance of the Saints-100% guarantee of absolute perserverance-100% All-Mighty Sovereignty of/from God only-100% gift only
The last of the five points of Calvinism teaches that God preserves His people so they can never be lost. To put it simply, it means this: "Once you are saved, you are always saved."
God's Word is full of proof for this beautiful truth. And though many deny it, and tell you that you can be lost and saved many, many times, and therefore can never be sure of your salvation, the Bible says otherwise. Talking about His elect sheep, Jesus said: "And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" (John 10:28). See John 6:39, 17:2, 11,12; Romans 8:37-39; II Tim. 1:12; 4:18, etc. etc.
Some object to this doctrine because it supposedly makes men "carnally secure" in their salvation. That is, if I know nothing can make me go to hell once God has saved me, I will "live like the devil." There have been some who have used this beautiful truth as an excuse to live like the devil. But they are not Christians. Nor do they understand this truth. Because this truth also implies
      "PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS."
Those who never fall away are saints. They are holy. And they are given power to live holy lives. They "continue in well-doing." Anyone who says he can "live like the devil" has not experienced the saving power of Christ and does not know the meaning of Philippians 1:6, "He that hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." God will continue working good works in us until Christ returns. Don't think otherwise.
Is there any hope for Christians without this doctrine? We don't need to be "scared to heaven." We need comfort. Because we know that if it were up to the Christian to remain saved, he would never be able to do it. You know yourself!!!! There is no power in me apart from God's grace.

      @AVB2 Good question.
      Short answer: It depends.
Long answer: "When I say, quite properly, 'All the beer is warm', I don't mean that all the beer in the whole universe is warm, but rather something like that all the beer in this room is warm, as is seen by the fact that I can continue the sentence by saying something that implies that there is cold beer elsewhere: 'All the beer's warm, so let's go to the kitchen and get some cold beer.' So how can it be suggested that 'all' always means all? (But how can it be that 'all' could fail to mean all?)
What's going on here is that the quantifier phrases of natural language ('all', 'most', 'some', etc.) are to be understood, on an occasion of use, relative to a contextually determined domain. Thus, when I say, 'All the beer is warm', the contextually determined domain is the things in this room, so 'All the beer', in context, means all the beer in this room. So there is some sense in which 'all' doesn't always mean all: On some occasions of use, 'all', or 'all the F's' means all (or all the F's) within a limited domain. But, relative to that domain , 'all' really does mean all (without exception): My sentence 'All the beer is warm' turns out to be false if there is some cold beer that I failed to notice in the room.
But when the domain is limited, there has to be some fairly clear clue as to what the limited domain is. When 'all' is used in the New Testament, as in 'For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God,' and similar passages, the 'all', I take it, refers to all people. It could possibly refer to some restricted class of people, but that suggestion is to be rejected, b/c (a) there is no such restricted class that clearly presents itself (all the people in this room?), (b) it's incumbent on a speaker to make clear what the class is if he means for it to be specially restricted and no specially restricted class clearly presents itself given current conversational intents and purposes, and (c) the NT doesn't specify any such specially restricted class. So, 'All have sinned' means that all people have sinned, as almost all would agree.
But similarly for the 'all's of the universalist passages. No restricted class of people clearly presents itself, and the Biblical writers aren't so incompetent as to mean some specially restricted class of people that doesn't clearly present itself without specifying or somehow making it clear which class they mean. Indeed, in I Corinthians 15:22 and Romans 5:18, each of the relevant 'all's occur in the very same sentence (and a fairly short sentence, to boot) as an occurrence of 'all' that seems to refer to the whole human race (given that it's the whole human race that died/was condemned in Adam), so it would have been especially misleading or even incompetent for Paul to mean something less than the whole human race there, since that would involve switching the domains relative to which his claims should be interpreted without warning in the middle of a single sentence -- and a sentence that seems to be stressing the parallelism between its two clauses, for that matter. So I see no reasonable alternative but to conclude that these 'all's refer to all people."
--Keith DeRose, _Universalism and the Bible_
Also, "God has consigned *all* to disobedience, that He may have mercy on *all."* (Romans 11:32) contains two "all's." This makes it very likely that both "all's" should be understood the same way. I'm not aware of anyone who believes that the first "all" doesn't apply to everybody. Thus, the same is true of the second "all."

A lot is riding on this: In the dozen or so verses where hell, the lake of fire or destruction is said to be "eternal," "everlasting" or "forever," it's based on the Greek word _aionios._ If you google "aionios" you'll find many opinions about its meaning. There are excellent reasons to believe it should be translated "of an age." The adjective _aionios_ is derived from the noun _aion,_ which means "eon" or "age." Eons and ages are long but *finite* periods of time. The very literal Rotherham's Emphasized Bible version translates _aionios_ as "age-abiding." Young's Literal Translation says "age-during," which means during an age.
To be sure, most people will have to endure the lake of fire ordeal first, but here's what will happen to them there:
      FIRE PURIFIES
The Greek word for fire is _pur._
      ---------------
      *BRIMSTONE (SULFUR) ALSO PURIFIES*
Pre-Roman civilizations used sulfur as a medicine, a fumigant, a bleaching agent and in incense.
The ancient Greeks used sulfur to fumigate, to purify, to cleanse and consecrate to the deity.
For example, in Homer's _Iliad,_ in Book 16, a goblet is purified with sulfur.
For example, in Homer's _Odyssey,_ in Book 22, we find: "Bring me sulfur, which cleanses all pollution, and fetch fire also that I may burn it, and purify the cloisters."
The Romans used sulfur as an insecticide, and to purify a sick room to cleanse its air of evil.
For millennia, gold has been refined with fire _and sulfur,_ because of its ideal chemical properties. ( ruclips.net/video/4lHWv4zM7iA/видео.html )
      ---------------
The Old Testament has many refining metaphors: Deut. 4:20, 1 Kings 8:51, Psalms 12:6, 66:10, Prov. 17:3, 25:4, 27:21, Isa. 1:22-27, 48:10, Jer. 9:7, Zech. 13:9, *Mal. 3:2-3.* They should inform how we think about fire in the New Testament. Jesus even offered to sell gold refined by fire (Rev. 3:18). This shows that he too was thinking about refining on the day the book of Revelation, including its lake of fire, was born.
      ---------------
"But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For *he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap.* He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and *he will purify* the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the Lord." --Malachi 3:2-3
      ---------------
*Connecting the Dots: The metaphorical lake of fire will punish **_and refine (purify)_** the unrighteous. All will eventually be saved. God is love (1 John 4:8,16). Jesus is the Savior of the world (1 John 4:14, John 4:42). His mission was to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), and he never fails.*

In the original Greek, predestination is always written in the plural form. God destined the Church before the foundation of the world, not individuals He would save. He predestined that whoever believes will be a part of the Church that He predestined. Calvinism is nothing but a modern pharisaical belief system using modern terms. "We are the chosen, and everyone else is already damned." That is what the Pharisees believed. And, Jesus spoke against them because of that very mindset, and the fact that they prevented others from entering into the kingdom who DESIRED to enter. @republica7337 According to calvinism (Sproul), Only a few will enter Heaven because God chooses at random whom He will save, and God chooses at random whom He will not save, which is the majority.! This is a false doctrine. Jesus teaches that He died for ALL humanity, and offers salvation to All through faith in Him, yet Jesus says that Few will accept this free gift of salvation, but it is offered to All Humanity! And we ALL have free will to choose. Sproul is a calvinist, and calvinists teach the opposite of what Jesus teaches! BEWARE OF ALL CALVINIST PREACHERS! THEY ARE WOLVES IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING!

You are not quoting the scripture correctly, and therein lies your problem. Read the WHOLE verse of 2 Peter 3:9 -- Peter specifically states it is to "us-ward" which is the Church. NOT to the entire world. God is not willing that ANY who are saved will perish, but all who are saved will come to repentance. We know that Peter is addressing the church specifically, because he says so in the opening salutation in 2 Peter 1:1.

Thank you so very much for sharing this teaching on the doctrine of election which is delivered in such a concise and easy to comprehend manner. While the truths expounded here had been birthed in my mind for many years, my attempts to articulate them. at one time, were less than sufficient. While teaching an adult Sunday Bible class, I had a dear brother in Christ with whom I often socialized, who gave the standard "foreknowledge of those who respond to the gospel favorably" as God's determining factor for election. Partly because I was ill prepared that day and partly because of who purported the notion, my mind went blank and I simply said, "No, that's not the case," and went straight to Paul's example of Jacob and Esau. Dr. Sproul had a wonderful way of laying out the truths of our doctrine in terms that are both easily understood and readily retained. I am what is often demeaningly referred to as a lay minister: not educated by means of institutions created by man, as if man is better at such than God's word and His Spirit of holiness. That same designation could be applied to many efficaciously dynamic and fruitful Saints/ministers of the past (yet I fall very short even of them). Although, as I listen intently to those holding doctorates in theology, I make full use of their references to many Christian works of the past which expound sound doctrine. I find those books and men, then avail myself to study them without paying someone to tell me I should study them (chortle); from the ancient greek philosophers to Augustine to the reformers and puritans, etc, etc. God has been preparing my mind for service. Sort of stuck momentarily in John Owens' Mortification of Sin. Prayers much appreciated.

In 1976, when I was 13 years old, I had a wide awake, real, in full color VISION of the Lord's Return...
We lived out in the country in the middle of dusty plowed fields, dirt roads and woods in south Georgia. Everything looked kind of brown and crispy, like it needed rain bad. The corn field across the road in front of the house was starting to turn brown and die.
I went to my bedroom, which faced out the front side of the house and looked out onto our front yard, which had a semi-circular dirt driveway and beside the left entrance was an old dogwood tree which had to be at least a hundred years old. Highway 341 ran from east to west in front of our house, which faced north, and the cornfield I spoke of earlier was on the other side of the highway. There was a slight rise in the middle of this field and you could not see the trees on the other side, so it looked like an ocean of corn that went off into the horizon.
As I lay across my bed looking out the window, contemplating what I saw before me, I began to hear music in the distance. I specifically heard it in my right ear and the direction from which it came made me think of the high school band which practiced several miles southeast from where I lived. When conditions were right we could hear the band playing, but usually only heard the faint beat of drums. This sounded like trumpets and as I was thinking this to myself, I began to notice the music getting louder and louder, coming closer and closer, very quickly.
Within a few seconds the sound wasn't just something that was exterior, but it was inside my head as well, reverberating throughout my entire body. It was so loud and it sounded like lightning crashed directly over my head and, in that split second, the trumpet sound thundered throughout my body and throughout the entire world...everything went dark and my bed and the earth shook violently.
In a flash, I was no longer lying on my bed, but I was standing outside my bedroom window in the front yard and I beheld the scene in front of me with tremendous awe. It was still my front yard, only now everything was different. It seemed as if my entire range of vision was a huge 3D movie screen and I was in the middle of it.
The trumpets continued to sound and I saw that the blue, sunny sky had turned black and the clouds churned and the wind blew with a violence that I had never experienced. The corn field was now a sea of wheat that was golden brown and ripe for harvest and I could see every stalk of wheat individually, billions of them. And I watched as the wind thrashed the wheat until it was beaten down by the storm. I now know that the Bible speaks several times about, in the end time, when the wheat is ripe for harvest, how the wheat will be separated from the tares. The tares are gathered and bundled together for burning and the wheat is gathered into the barn.
Then I noticed the dogwood tree. It was mid-July, so of course I know there should not have been any blossoms on it, they usually bloom around Easter...but the tree was in full bloom. I had never seen anything like this. You couldn't see any leaves on the tree because of the millions of dogwood blossoms. It looked as if it were lit from within, by a glowing whitest of white, neon light and it glowed gloriously against the darkened sky. Now, I know the Bible says no man knows the day nor hour that Jesus will return, but if we watch for the signs, we can know the season. I have always felt that He might come back in the spring when the dogwood tree is in bloom. Of all the things that could have been highlighted in a vision; why the dogwood tree? I believe there is a specific message here. (Update: recently, I prayed about this and I feel the Lord placed into my spirit that this represents the fullness of the gentiles coming in).
Just as I was taking all of this in, lightning filled the sky and the trumpets thundered over head again and in an instant there appeared two angels. They were dressed in white robes, facing each other up in the air and blowing golden trumpets. They were huge and filled the sky in front of me and I knew that the entire world must be seeing this as well. When I say huge, I mean like the size of the highest mountains, literally.
I didn't think the trumpets could get any louder, but they grew louder still, building to a great crescendo and I heard a great shout that was louder than anything that you could imagine. And with that shout, it's as if the earth fell silent, the black, violent clouds began to roll back onto themselves from the center of the northeastern sky and I saw light in the distance. It was more a combination of light and clearing of the clouds in the distance that got my attention. As I looked up at this shaft of light and clearing sky, I saw what seemed to be fluttering and movement in the distance. As it came into view, I saw Jesus on a white horse and behind him were millions of angels and saints on white horses. It was at this moment, when I realized what I was seeing, that it disappeared and I was back in my room lying on my bed. Everything was back to normal and I was again looking out at a bright, sunny day.

      1.

Which view of God best shows his love and his hearts desire, and best brings him glory and honor? A) He creates humans that are by his own pre-determined will going to reject him, be lost, and suffer eternally because again everything is in accordance to his will, but yet in his goodness(the other certainly isn't called good) he pre-selects a few to save even against their own desire not to be saved which isn't even their desire since he determined it to be their desire. If people cannot choose to be saved(according to Calvin) then they sure as heck don't choose to be lost either. It's all on God. OR_ this view of God; the God who is NOT willing that ANY should perish but ALL should repent and have eternal life? THe God that JEsus shows who weeps over Jerusalem and says he was that mother hen who wanted(desired) that they all come to him for protection(salvation). If we arent tied to a certain mindset then it's pretty easy to see which view of God brings him more glory and honor. Any view that makes God to be some monster creating people for the sole purpose of damning them is the wrong view. But you do you.

Great teaching. For those looking for the short answer, here it is. God does give us free will outside of salvation. God allows evil to exist and we have free will to choose between good and evil everyday. But when it comes to salvation we do NOT have free will. God chooses us, we dont get to choose Him. God calls us, draws us close to Him and he provides us with sufficient grace, belief and heartfelt repentence to enact salvation. God is an individual saviour and He will call you and draw you near on your own. If you have been through a mass born again production line ritual in an evangelical 'church' you are not saved. God doesn't do industrial complex soul saving. He does individual saving, justification and glorification.
So free will is made available to you for everyday choices, but not when it comes to salvation.

Is God any different? The argument that a person can choose hell by rejecting God as a result of 'free' will is in effect saying a little girl has more strength than her dad. God has given man a 'measure' of free will, but certainly not to the degree that He would allow him or her to damn themselves forever in torment. Is God less of a parent than we are (Matt. 7:11)?"

First of all there is a heaven and a hell which means that "all" of humanity will not be saved. If that were the case then there would be no hell and there would only be heaven. Revelation.makes it clear that there is definitely a hell with the Lake of fire and throughout the Bible it is also made clear who is going into the Lake of Fire.
So, there are two groups of "all" that the Bible refers to. "All" the elect or chosen ones who are predestined to be saved and go to heaven. Then the second group of "all" are "all" of the rest of humanity or the non-elect. They are the ones who have heard of Jesus Christ and reject Him (they go to hell) and those who have never heard of Christ and they get judged based on what they have done. Some of them will be saved on the Day of Judgement and some will be sent to hell.
So, "all" of humanity is made up of two groups of "all". "All" the elect (predestination) and "all" the non-elect.

In proportion to our abandonment of God are we taken care of by God. Therefore, we must surrender to the Will of God(Inner Christ) if we truly Desire to Discern the Movements of God within....

We must separate ourselves from the Mortal Delusion(s) of our Adversary, the World Mind and it's mortal thoughts....
The Christ Within asks one thing of us:
Crucify the Belief in a Me Separate and Apart from the Immortal, Omnipresent Spirit of God, as there is no more Glorious a Demonstration than the Transformation from mortal sense to Spiritual Immortality....
The massive wall we have built shielding us from our truth lies in intellectual concepts, also known as Graven Images of Mortality. What is of God is Infinite, and what is not of God is an Appearance of a False Image where Only God is....
Heaven is where you are, and the only place that you can ever be, yet Hell is the place that you insist on experiencing....
In the Bible, nothing is literal, religious, or historical because it was written by those of an Illumined Consciousness for those who the bible call JEWS, which are individuals who have come to the virginal realization that the Spirit of God is the Only Presence, and are actively working toward a greater Receptivity of this Principle. Israel does not refer to a location, but rather an Illumined Conscious State of Being, while Egypt is the Symbol of Darkness of Ignorance of Being. The Christ is not talking about Jesus(as jesus the human is nothing of itself, and can do nothing of itself. And if Christ talked about the form of jesus as a reality it would have been a lie), but rather the Conscious State of Awareness that knows the Infinite, Perfect Spirit of God is the Only Presence, that all will ultimately kneel to....
And we come to the practice of the Nicolaitans, which is the symbol of ALL RELIGIOUS BELIEF, which is what crucifies the Christ Within that's waiting for your Recognition, Realization and Receptivity....
We cannot glorify the Father, and glorify the flesh, or the sense of a personal Me separate and apart from God(including the flesh of jesus). Our Consciousness can not be divided in this. Either God is or God isn't the Only Life, and our experience is the Demonstration of either/or, depending on our receptivity to Life(Immortality), or Death(Mortality)...
Where there's a Me(human self-love and human self-will) separate and apart from God there is SIN.....
      SELF...................S
      INDULGED..........I
      NUISANCE.........N
Me, not God, therefore, ME knows better than God, and because ME knows better, ME MUST suffer the consequences of ME mortal beliefs of a Life Separate and Apart from God!! ME must appear to suffer the mortal consequences of ME IGNORANCE of TRUTH of BEING....
He who Realizes his Life is the Spirit of God has Eternal Life! He then walks through the mortal appearance a Divine Being, in who the 5 Senses of Mortal Lies have been Impersonalized, therefore hold no power over him. His fidelity is to the Immortal Spirit he is, and no longer to the mortal illusion of life not of God....
We Must OVERCOME the Belief that we are not Immortal, Divine Being.....
To him that Overcometh the temptation of the tree of good and evil(belief in a mortal existence separate and apart from God)will I give to eat of the Tree of Life(ALL GOD IS/ETERNAL LIFE), which is in the Midst of the Kingdom of God(Omnipresence)....
Turn ye from the false images of the mortal world of man with breath in his nostrils, and Dwell in the Secret Place of the Most High!!
I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD....of the 5 senses of World Mind Belief, knowing they can only lie!!

The problem here Jeff, is you are attempting to hold God to your subjective standard of reason and favour. In your reasoning therefore, you attempt to hold God to account to your personal perceptions of what is fair and what is not. No man can do this, as we are earthen vessels made by the hands of Him whom we have to do. God created all things by Him, through Him and for Him, therefore it is up to God as to how the world operates, and He can chose to do with us as He pleases. David said the Earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof; the Earth and everyone in it in Psalm 24. Your personal subjectivity has no bearing on what God does or says. Did he consult you before He made the Heavens and the Earth? Read Job Chapter 38 from verse one, onwards.

Mr. Sproul had a right to his opinion. I maintain that the action of the individual will determine his or her fellowship with Christ. There's nothing ambiguous about, "if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him." Christ extends his gracious invitation to all of humanity. According to scripture, not my personal preference, this is how His world operates because of who He is - not willing that any should perish but that all may come to repentance.

@@jefff1651 2 Peter 3:9 is ALWAYS taken out of context by those who don't like to quote the entire verse because it clearly states it is addressed to a specific group, and that group is the CHURCH. I address this issue above at the top of the comments if you care to read them. When Jesus says if 'anyone hears my voice' --- can 'everyone' hear His voice? Jesus addresses this in John 10, and most definitely ONLY those that the Father gives to Jesus are able to hear his voice. Let's read what Jesus says about this in John 10 because He directly states WHO hears His voice, and WHO are His sheep, and WHO gave Jesus those sheep:
But ye believe not, *because ye are not of my sheep,* as I said unto you.
*My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:*
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
*My Father, which gave them me,* is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. - John 10:26-29
So --- according to Jesus, ONLY His sheep hear His voice, clearly stated in verse 27. The Father GAVE Jesus His sheep according to verse 29, which are us today in the Church. And verse 28 assures us we have eternal life and shall never perish. You cannot refute the words of the Almighty. For context on God's will, it might help you to read Isaiah 46:10.

Ephesians 2: 8-9 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
The verse clearly states "this is not from yourselves" meaning you have nothing to do with it it is what? "the gift of God" so that no one can boast. As RC said in the video if there was something you had to do with it you could then tell people "I did x, y, and z to get my salvation" which automatically means it is no longer by God's grace you are saved but of yourself which is not biblical. Psalm 3:8 clearly states "Salvation belongeth unto the Lord" it is his to give or not give it depends not on you.
John 6:44 - No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
We see also here "No man CAN come to me" Jesus didn't say no one MAY he said no one CAN meaning you don't even have the ability to choose God unless what? The verse says unless the Father first draws you. Salvation belongs to God and no one else brother.

Biblical Bible (OT and NT) Faith, Believing,Trust and Repentance is not something man
contributes to or towards salvation but is itself a part of God's gift of
Salvation which He Himself is - it is God's gift to the sinner, not the sinner's gift to
      God.
      2.

No your statement is in complete contradiction to God's word that was just present here and is in His word. Salvation is up to God alone. Since every human being is born into sin the sinful nature and is spiritually dead and blind, then how do they decide to seek God if they cannot see God due to their spiritual blindness? They cannot. God's word say no one seeks God not one! It is only due to the intervention of God drawing them to Him/Jesus that brings them from darkness to His light. This is all in His word and is very clear to those who have the Holy spirit and discern the spiritual things of the bible with the help of the Holy spirit. For without the holy spirit no one can discern the things of the bible as they are spiritually discerned.

I commend R.C. Sproul for his lifelong diligence in pursuing the knowledge and understanding of Scripture.
But great knowledge does not necessary translate into great understanding.
This is the case with R.C.'s sermon about how God decided who to save...
How can RC understand who our Lord Jesus decided to save when RC did not understand who the objects of our Lord Jesus's wrath and glory were.
Therefore, RC committed himself to preaching a gospel that was no gospel at all much less the Gospel.
...So, then, as to our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus's eternal Gospel...
The Lord Jesus had an eternal plan for mankind to be His future eternal sons and daughters before the creation of Creation.
In order to create His future eternal sons and daughters...
The fall of mankind through Adam was put in place through the Lord Jesus's eternal plan for mankind in order to create for Himself sons and daughters who were made in His image.
In order to be truly made in the image of our Lord Jesus, it was required by design that all of mankind through Adam come to the knowledge of good and evil molded together with free will.
It was for the very purpose of creating sons and daughters who were made in His image and knowing that sin and death would ensue to accomplish that design goal that the Lord Jesus predestined Himself to be murdered by His own future eternal sons and daughters in the most tortuous and ignominious manner on a cross...
It was through the Cross that our Lord Jesus reconciled His future eternal sons and daughters back to Himself...
That is, through the Cross, mankind's sins that followed Adam were justified by the Lord Jesus Christ.
It was through the Cross then that the Lord Jesus's righteousness was revealed by forgiving all of mankind's sins committed following Adam.
It is through the revelation of what the Lord Jesus did for His future eternal sons and daughters on the Cross that the consciences of men will be seared into repentance on the Day of our Lord Jesus.
Indeed, then, it was through our Lord Jesus Christ alone that the Lord Jesus's eternal plan of redemption of mankind was finished on the Cross...
It is just as our Lord Jesus Christ declared while hanging on the Cross...
    “It is finished.”
Therefore, it is through our Lord Jesus alone that redemption came to all of mankind...
Having redeemed mankind through the Cross it was through the Lord's resurrection that the Lord Jesus revealed to mankind and to all of the rulers and authorities in the heavenlies above and the earth below His eternal Gospel of salvation for mankind...
That is, from generation through generation since Adam, the Lord Jesus's future eternal sons and daughters have been coming to the knowledge of good and evil molded with free will.
This process of Creation will continue until that last generation, when the full number of the gentiles whose names were written in the Book of Life before the creation of Creation have come to fulfillment.
Then, during that final generation on a day and hour unknown, the Day of the Lord Jesus will come upon all of mankind and Creation like a thief in the night at the last trumpet sound...
On that day, the Lord Jesus will be revealed in all of His everlasting glory, and all of the Lord's sons and daughters will be made known to all of Creation.
So, on that Day, the Lord Jesus will be revealed in all of His everlasting glory...
In that moment the consciences of mankind will be seared through the Lord's glorious appearance so that at the Name of Jesus, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of the Father.
In that moment, our Lord Jesus will be made known to mankind as the only One through whom the Lord's eternal sons and daughters were saved.
Indeed, the gate is not just small, and the road is not just narrow, that leads to eternal life.
    That gate is singular...
Every future eternal son and daughter goes through our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus.
Then, on that Day, the eternal sons and daughters will be made known to all of Creation...
In a flash, in the twinkling of the Lord's eye, all will be made incorruptible, and all will be made immortal.
On that Day, ‭1 Corinthians 15:51-57 will be fulfilled...
"Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Then the Lord's eternal sons and daughters, together with their Lord Jesus, will live forever in a new heavens and a new earth.
...The Lord Jesus put in place His eternal Gospel before the creation of Creation.
Therefore, it was by the Lord Jesus's sovereign grace that He did all of that for us, who are His future eternal sons and daughters.
What a Gospel the Lord Jesus has made known by His sovereign grace to those whom He predestined to believe even while still living in this perishing world...
Truly then, all might, honor, and glory belong to our Lord Jesus, who is God over all to be forever praised.

Romans 11:11-36 From this account of Paul, they're hardened for a period of time for our sake. But one day, they will truly see that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of their tradition, culture & hope (atonement for sins & offerings of thanksgiving, law & prophets, a deliverer-salvation, promised land, etc.) These are God's revelation of himself, first to the Jews, then to the Gentiles. His promise to the patriarchs will never be broken. (v28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable.) Christians have more in common with them in terms of the knowledge of God revealed to them through the OT. When they sing the Shema & Psalm 121, Christians can't help but see the similarities. But we must pray that they'll share in our NT understanding that Jesus Christ, is the fulfillment of what the prophets have been trying to find out & waiting for.

Esau gave up his birthright for a bowl of beans, and Jacob was a deceiver who deceived Isaac into thinking he was Esau, whom the blessing of the first born son is to receive. This has absolutely nothing to do with predestination and everything to do with the free choice of the twins.

      1.

Look at it this way. God is omniscient and omnipresent. He knows everything that will happen before it happens. Therefore when he created us in the womb, he knew whether we would choose him or not. Consequently, he still created those he knew would not choose him with their free-will thus being the first cause of their damnation. So, no matter which way you look at it (God chooses us or we choose him), both salvation by election or free-will both end up in the same place! Again, whenever we say "the Doctrine of...", we're saying that all people must buy into a particular set of conclusions that the so-called "giants of the faith" have developed and organized into "the Doctrine of..."
I don't believe God judges human beings on where they stand on "the Doctrine of...(this or that)".
Remember: the more the so-called learned men organize and encapsulate things into a set of conclusions called "The Doctrine of..." the more they label anyone and everyone who doesn't quite agree with their conclusions as a "heretic" or "not saved". That's one of the reasons Church history is so bloody.
Is that really what Jesus said to do?

Well, I kept seeing the word “elect” and “election” in scripture and began a quest to understand what that meant. Both words combined occur 35 times. So, obviously it is an important topic. I think it is helpful to have a word that encapsulates the concept to provide a focal point for discussion.
Clearly, God chose the Jews to bless the world with the Gospel. The scripture states he chose them based on nothing good or bad about them. So, “unconditional election” is a perfect term to describe that concept as a concise point for discussion. It escapes the neccesity of having to always quote long tracts of scripture to convey the point.

Then why does 2 Peter 3:9 say that God is "not willing (note "willing" means in God's will) that any should perish, but that ALL (emphasis added) should come to repentance"? This verse clearly means that God wishes that everyone would repent and be saved. The Bible is clear that repentance is necessary for salvation. Elsewhere in the Bible, in Ezekiel 33:11, God clearly takes no pleasure in destroying the wicked. So if election is unconditional and repentance (i.e., our decisions and actions) isn't necessary, then why wouldn't God simply elect EVERYONE?? Not arguing, just seeking.

I believe the purpose of election has been misunderstood. It's not about who will ultimately be saved.
The *purpose* of election: "We [elect] are preparing now to rule and reign with Him in the coming ages (Eph. 2:7, 2 Tim. 2:12, Rev. 20:6), to govern five or ten cities (Luke 19:17,19), to sit on thrones governing the tribes of Israel (Matt. 19:28; Luke 22:30), even to rule over all He has (Luke 12:43-44). Our Lord is preparing leaders for that time ... we [elect] are the firstfruits [2 Thess. 2:13, Jam. 1:18, Rev. 14:4-5] -- the priests and kings who will judge the world and intercede for the ungodly (lost) in this age and the ages to come. ... God does not merely settle for the firstfruits. They are but a pledge for the whole." -- Gerry Beauchemin, _Hope Beyond Hell,_ chapter 5, "Purpose of Election" section

Yes God is "willing" that none should perish, but God has two wills, His revealed will that we read about in His word and His secret will that is only known to Him until it happens on earth. Question, is it EVER God's will that He would not only allow the murder of an innocent man but that it be done by God's foreknowledge and determined purpose? Exodus 20:13 says "Thou shalt not murder." How about bearing false witness? Exodus 20:16 "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." Okay we have established that according to God's revealed will that murdering a man or bearing false witness against him is a sin and NOT in His revealed will. What happened to Jesus Christ? He was murdered after false witnesses accused him of blasphemy! But of course this COULD NOT be in God's will could it? Acts 2:23 "Him, [Christ] being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put Him to death." What? It was by God's determined purpose and His foreknowledge that He allowed "lawless hands" to "crucify and put Him to death." God is WILLING that none should perish but billions will.

*Revealed 115 years ago: “God is omniscient, all things being open and naked before His eyes. His wisdom is infinite. The foreknowledge of God is also absolute. We can tell Him nothing which He does not know, but His intelligent, infinite intuition comprehends all things past, present or future. This intelligence is perfect and absolute. Man analyzes things to find out their nature. God knows the nature without the analysis. How the foreknowledge of God is to be reconciled with man’s free agency and moral accountability is indeed to men in the world a dark problem, but in the Scriptures both are clearly taught, and faith accepts what reason cannot reconcile. Some of the churches on earth have DENIED man’s moral freedom. Others maintain that God in the exercise of His omniscience, like His omnipotence, abstains from knowing what His creatures will do under certain given circumstances, but the foreknowledge of God itself, UNREVEALED to men, does not impose nor even hint to men any course of conduct whatever; IT IN NO DEGREE AFFECTS HIS LIBERTY OF ACTION. Man neither sins nor follows holiness, as the result of God’s foreknowledge; so notwithstanding God’s foreknowledge, He has made man in His image, a free moral being.”*

Soli Deo Gloria. *But… Are you sure you are giving the glory to Him?* When you distort the character of God by making Him look more like Shiva (the Hindu god of destruction), than that God of incredible love, patience and mercy from the Bible; The One who commands you to love your enemies and forgive them always!… Are you giving Him glory? Because... friend, let's be honest. A “god” who creates billions of souls to be sent directly to hell, without any option to save… is an extremely cruel god. He is not the God of the Bible.
When you tell a sinner that Jesus has only died for a tiny portion of humanity, and that it is very, very unlikely that he is among them; even though there are *several* texts in the Bible that claim that God sent His Son in ransom for humanity, because He doesn't want anyone to be lost... Are you giving glory to God? Sure?
Could it not be... That in the most hidden and deep part of your heart you are giving glory to yourself?
I will explain. One can easily feel special, even better than others, when he hears that he has been chosen by God.
Because a “god” who sends people who are better than you to hell… doesn't make any sense, right?
Without a doubt I must be better. No choice. God must have seen something special in me to not care about destroying billions of souls and staying with me. Because I take it for granted that you don't think that God saves his 4 chosen ones by lot, right? I hope not!
But there is a big problem, that “god” who chooses for something he finds in the person, is not the God of the Bible. He is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). That is, He does not favor or lean toward some people more than others for any particular reason or affection.
That is, for Him, you and all those who are going to end up in hell are exactly the same. Rebels. Sinners. Get this deep in your head. And repeat it to yourself, over and over again, until you really understand it. Because this is a serious matter.
But it is true that the Bible speaks that we have been chosen. But then? Based on what? How can God choose without violating His character and not based on anything that is in man?
Very easy. He opened the door of Eternal Life to *ALL of his creatures.* And he says *to ALL of us:* Do you want to enter with me? Those who freely answer “Yes” to that call, those whose answer He already knows before the foundation of the world, are His chosen ones. (Romans 8:29).
And certainly this speaks to us of a God of immense love. Love far superior to the human one, who easily makes preferences.
Let us be very careful, lest, pretending to give glory to God, we may be found liars. For the heart is wicked and deceitful above all things.
    (Jeremiah 17:9)

Thus God's choice of the sinner, not the

Most early church fathers' theology was far more positive:
"Christ saves all men. Some he converts by penalties, others who follow Him of their own will ... that every knee may be bent to Him, of those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth" [Isa. 45:22-23, Rom. 14:11, Phil. 2:10-11, Rev. 5:13] -- *Clement of Alexandria,* _Commentary on 1 John_
"When death shall no longer exist, nor the sting of death, nor any evil at all, then, verily, God will be All in all" [1 Cor. 15:28,55] -- *Origen,* _De Principiis 3:6.3_
"What else does 'until the times of universal restoration' signify to us, if not the aeon to come, in which all beings must receive their perfect restoration?" [Acts 3:21] -- *Eusebius,* leading historian of the early church, _Contra Marcellum __2:4:11_
"A few drops of blood renew the whole world, and become for all men that which rennet is for milk, uniting and drawing us into one." [Col. 1:15-20] -- *Gregory Nazianzus,* _Oration 42_
"Christ captured over again the souls captured by the devil, for that He promised in saying, 'I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto Me.'" [John 12:32, 1 Peter 3:19-20, 4:6, Psalm 68:18, Eph. 4:8-10, and maybe Matt. 12:29] -- *Athanasius,* _Expositions on the Psalms, 68.18_
"The peace [coming] from the Lord is coextensive with all time [eternity]. For all things shall be subject to him, and all things shall acknowledge his empire; and when God shall be all in all, those who now excite discords by revolts, having been quite pacified, [all things] shall praise God in peaceful concord." [Psalm 145:10a, 1 Cor. 15:28, Rev. 5:13] -- *Basil,* _Commentary on Isaiah 9:6_
"So the Son of Man came to save that which was lost, i.e., all, for as in Adam all die, so, too, in Christ shall all be made alive." [Luke 19:10, 1 Cor. 15:22] -- *Ambrose,* _Exposition on the Gospel of Luke 15.3_
"For the wicked there are punishments not perpetual, ... but they are to be tormented for a certain brief period, according to the amount of malice in their works. They shall therefore suffer punishment for a short space, but immortal blessedness, having no end, awaits them; ... the penalties to be inflicted for their many and grave crimes are very far surpassed by the magnitude of the mercy to be showed them. The resurrection, therefore, is regarded as a blessing, not only to the good, but also to the evil." [Isa. 57:16], *Diodore,* _De Oecon_
"Some among the wise and learned … have alluded to this in an enigmatic way, by adducing that God is not only just, but also merciful, and that it becomes the One who judges with justice to have sinners suffer in a measure that is proportional to their sins and then make them worthy of blessedness." -- *Theodore,* _Liber Scholiorum, 2:63_
"'All the kings of the earth shall adore him.' Some, indeed, in the present life willingly, but all the rest after the Resurrection; for not yet do we see all things subject to him, but then every knee shall bow to him." [The "kings of the earth" are rebellious unbelievers in Rev. 6:15, 17:2,18, 18:3,9, 19:19,21 ... but check out what happens in Rev. 21:24-27!] -- *Theodoret,* _On Psalm 72:11_
"Death shall come as a visitor to the impious; it will not be perpetual; it will not annihilate them; but will prolong its visit, till the impiety which is in them shall be consumed." [Matt. 5:26] -- *Jerome,* _On Micah 5:8_
"After the complete abolition of sin, praise shall be sung to God; which praise contain (implies) our being incapable of turning to sin ... when every created being shall be harmonized into one choir ... and when, like a cymbal, the reasonable creation, and that which is now severed by sin ... shall pour forth a pleasing strain, due to mutual harmony. Then comes the praise of every spirit for ever abounding with increase unto eternity." [Psalm 150] -- *Gregory of Nyssa,* _On Psalms, Tract 1, ch. 9_
Other church fathers who believed in eventual universal salvation include *Asterius, Bardaisan, Cyril of Alexandria, Didymus the Blind, Dionysius, Ephrem the Syrian, Gennadius, Hilary, John Cassian, John Chrysostom, Marcellus, Maximus the Confessor, Maximus of Turin, Methodius, Paulinus, Proclus, Titus of Basra & Victorinus.*

    Sobering Truths.
It's God's World and at times He allows people to hate Him so their heart would get colder and they would be lost
His Nature is our Righteousness and if that Nature is not birthed in a person, no good work can equal that required Right-ness.
    God Draws; God Saves.
