For me the problem with this season is nothing felt earned and everything was a short cut. Mando ending living on a farm with Grogu feels like the endgame to their arcs but it doesn’t feel like the end yet, it’s also weird to focus a season on finding the Mando home and then not ending up there?! Gideons force cloning arc was built up for 3 seasons and ended so easily. Mando redeeming himself and bathing in the waters happened so quickly, as did taking back Mandalore. These things feel like series long arcs but happened in 2 episodes each, nothing felt earned. The only exception is Bo Katan uniting the Mandos and Viszlas sacrifice.
I think this season would be much more compelling if grogu was with Luke the whole season, just getting a few training shots per episode while Mando works with bo to unite his people. Then Luke could permanently return Grogu to help Mando in the finale after grogu senses Mando is in trouble, and Luke could get to kill a moff Gideon force clone.
Overall it was a good episode but I had a few problems with the finale: 1. Disney continue to destroy George Lucas's creation and legacy (destroyed the darksaber). 2. Where on earth did Grogu come from at the start of the episode? 3. Why did all the tie fighters not shoot down the invading mandalorian ships? And where did all the TIEs go by the end of the episode? 4. Why did Moff Gideon wait and allow Mando to walk right into his cloning tank facility then get mad because destroyed them all instead of stopping him? 5. We didn't get to see Pedro's face at all this season. 6. There's nothing teasing Thrawn in the finale to connect the different shows together.
You made a lot of great points. I do find it weird that they didn’t even tease Thrawn considering that Ashoka is part of this pocket Star Wars universe.
Yeah, thank you. We have Gideon seeing Din on his security monitor, he knows exactly where he is, he even says he will deal with him ... and then he doesn't stop him killing his clones?!
The finale was a 6/10 imo. In my humble, personal, honest opinion, this season was just… meh. I was mostly unfazed by it. To me, this season felt very messy, incoherent, and overall lost. Especially the pacing. I was ok with Bo being a focus this season but it just feels like Mando and Grogu got completely sidelined. The show didn’t know what it wanted to do. At least until the last two episodes, which were really the only solid episodes imo. However, two solid episodes isn’t enough to save what was in my opinion a mostly lackluster, unfocused, rushed, and boring season. Overall, I give the season a 5.5/10, and I would probably rank it at the lowest spot of my 2023 TV shows list so far (which would be spot number 16 atm). All just my two cents. Hope season 4 is better…
I’d say my expectations were met for this season in a good and bad way. I knew there was no way they’d top the first two and unfortunately they didn’t. This was a very safe, straightforward, family friendly season. Didn’t offend me, didn’t impress me. What worries me now is the rest of the shows, because Skeleton Crew and the acolytes look insanely bad.
This season definitely feels like half of a season stretched out into a full one. I think when Rangers got cancelled they panicked and shoved some mando episodes in BOBF and pushed half the season into season 4 so they could fit in what Rangers was supposed to have
You are absolutely spot on. It’s unfortunately exactly the issue that the sequels and especially The Rise Of Skywalker ran into. It’s just so SAFE. Like they have these huge, seismic ideas that they introduce and tease and then they refuse to pay them off and swerve to something tried and tested at the last second. It’s been an issue through this whole season. Tease Moff Gideon’s prison break, but never show it onscreen, tease Thrawn’s return, tease the shadow council, tease the mythosaur but never use any of those things. Hell, we should have known the pirates were in league with the imperial remnant from day one, then we build the tension of that til episode 5, we should have seen Gideon’s shuttle escape in episode 3 or 4. Why did we waste so much time in episode 4 and 6 when we could have been laser focused onto this retaking mandalore from gideon plotline so when we got there it paid off properly. Some very unusual and almost sloppy writing choices here.
Gideon felt like a cheap Darth Vader to me. He had powered armor which I don't think Sean realises which was why he seemed so strong and could crush the Dark Sabre. But that part to, the Dark Sabre being destroyed felt the same to me as when Luke throws his old lightsabre over his shoulder in TFA. It felt cheap and a finger to the fans. Also Gideon was taken down by a ship falling on him, lol, Din and Bo Katan didn't beat him. As for Grogu ... sorry, he trained with Luke for two years?! When did that happen? In the show it felt like a few months top. And even if it was a couple of years he isn't capable of more than jumping around and pushing things .... hardly a great repertoire of skills when facing another force user which made the scene where he faces off against three Pretorian Guards all the more stupid looking. These highly skilled warriors end up looking like the Key Stone cops, lol. And what happened to the Mandalorian jet packs running out of fuel after a short time, something else they set up throughout the show so far, and yet here they have enough fuel to reach from the ground into orbit and fly around fighting others without worrying about the fuel running dry? I guess plot armour beats everything, huh?
11:10 You hit the nail right on the head!! Literally in every conversation me and my dad have had about the Mandalorian (as well as a lot of recent Star Wars and Marvel stuff) we have said that we could have easily come up with something better than what actually happened. He can come up with things that would have been SO MUCH COOLER than what we are seeing. I’m hopeful that season 4 will be a return to the roots type of thing. Focus on Din training Grogu and giving them good character arcs. Maybe have a flashback storyline with Din’s master. Empire/Mandalore stuff can still be a part of it, but it needs to be a secondary priority from now on.

Season 2 puts season 3 to shame. Season 2 was so perfect. An overarching story with some side quest, great character development for mando, and cameos that fit perfectly. Plus much better dialogue and acting. Season 3 was an overall disappointment
Do you think that they should have expanded the idea of this season across 2 seasons so they could have expanded ideas more, and have more Din Djarin. I personally think Episode 5 of the book of boba fett would have made a brilliant opening for season 3
I think something was different about getting his armor. It seemed mechanized. I don't think he would have had the strength to crush the dark saber by himself.
Sean without facial hair is like Ewan McGreggor without facial hair: it just looks off. Also I’ve never understood why everyone wants to clone themselves in Star Wars. Clearly, the clone is not you. The clones of Jango weren’t Jango: they were unique individuals.
There are no stakes because nothing is permanent. The plot of the episode was fine, but I never felt like our heroes were in any danger and it moved too quickly to reflect consequences of previous scenes.
Super disappointing that Season 3 added nothing to the show. Undid most of the S2 decisions, was less focused and less realistic compared to other seasons. It got became too silly and nonsensical to me. If they had kept the original Season 2 ending and ended the show there, they could have totally had this story in a Bo Katan show that takes over the Rangers of the New Republic. Instead, they had Gideon escape to be beaten fairly easily (after the darksaber was destroyed) and the clones just done away with, like nothing happened.
I dug the episode, I thought it was fun. I was thinking there was going to be a mid-credit scene showing that Moff Gideon has more clones somewhere else.
@@NinthShinigamiEh I doubt Andor season 2 will disappoint. The problem with the Mandalorian seems to be that there isn’t very much story to tell. They have a few things to set up for Ahsoka and the Mandoverse movie, but in terms of actual story, season 3 was super bare which resulted in a bunch of loosely strung together episodes that amounted to very little. Andor, however is displaying restraint by limiting itself to 2 seasons, proving that they have a roadmap, a story to tell, and they’re sticking to it.
Maybe my favorite finale so far. I got really emotional. Sure there wasn't an appearance of a character (Luke in 2x8)or an Item (Darksaber in 1x8) fans know, but that doesn't make it less good.
Season 2 finale was personally my favourite as Mando saying goodbye to Grogu made me cry but BoBF ruined that so this is probably my new favourite by the season 2 finale being pointless now
Both The Book of Boba Fett and Mando season 3 have baffled me with their writing decisions. I genuinely do not understand what is going on in thei writers' heads when they write some of this stuff. "Odd" was the perfect word to describe these storytelling decisions.
I just think the cloning stuff was put in to show the ground work for how Palpatine was brought back, i dont think it is meant to be paid off on this show
They could do clone Moff Gedion takes Revenge in season 4 that would be interesting But the way they set up season 4 is going to be back like season 1 vibes than going on adventures I would Love to see a clone Moff Gedion in season 4, that he becomes Vader like or something And and he destroys Navarro And Mando and Grogu have to flee Then Mando would ask for the help of Luke Skywalker Luke Skywalker vs Clone force User Moff I personally think that would be kind of cool
All I can say is wow. For one, this season has been kind of a disaster and had no direction until Episode 7, and then the last two episodes have been really, really good out of nowhere. It makes me even more annoyed that the season was so bad when these last two were so good. Mando was an infinitely cooler character than he had been all season, and Grogu actually did something that wasn't for laughs. He still had no purpose for the rest of the season, but still. Bo was actually compelling and somehow, her motive became more compelling once it was clear that they'd actually have to fight people to reclaim Mandalore. The Mythosaur not being used was really dumb and confusing, but honestly, the rest of the episode was pretty awesome. Moff Gideon isn't a great villain, but he's been kind of one dimensional since Season 1. He was a powerful, badass final boss for the season and Giancarlo Esposito is great as ever. The episode overall was just a lot of fun and a nice change of pace from the rest of the season, in that it was good. I think it's cool that the last two episodes didn't seem rushed, because they only needed two episodes to tell the reclamation of Mandalore, which was another problem with the season. It was a solid finale to a generally dumb, poorly written, lame season.
Honestly I think the theory of the mythasuar coming in and saving the day I think would’ve been way to predictable kinda like the rancor in book of boba so I’m kinda glad they didn’t go that route
The reason Moff Gideon didn't get the force is because they are setting up the sequel trilogy and palpatine to return. Nice for continuity but not great for the show I suppose
The Episode was 7 out of 10 and wrapped up the show for mw. The season was a 5.5/10 . Don't really want a season 4 and probably won't bother with it. All roads lead to Jake Skywalker remember Sean.
Pretty snooze worthy imo, I felt myself only being focused on nitpicks I picked up, nothing felt earned, no built up, suspense, none of the action sequences felt grand or memorable, I will not be able to remember this season after long compared s1 and 2 which I can remember every episode
It really shows how disinterested you were in this season when we didn’t even get weekly reviews of each episode as it premiered. But I’m not blaming you for that because the season was a very disappointing and boring slog to sit through! I would sum the season up as aimless, which was never an issue in the first two seasons! For sure, we had a few boring episodes every now and then, but the central core of the story was always there; get Grogu back to his people. But with this season, the premier set up an interesting story and then immediately concluded the arc in the next episode???? Episodes 3-6 really just felt like the series was meandering and wasting our time, just for the final two episodes to throw in an actual story. But because of how late into the season this was set up, it just felt rushed!
@@cooperwolfe5478 it actually blew my mind that they spent the first episode setting up this big journey where Mando has to travel Mandalore and reclaim his honor, just for it to be concluded within the next episode. I really feel like that had enough story potential for more episodes. And it felt like by the time we got to episode 7 and began seeing what we’ve wanted this entire time, I just didn’t care anymore. Episodes 3 and 6 really just felt like huge wastes of time, and while episodes 4-5 were fun adventures, they didn’t do much to set up the finale either.
Star Wars fan logic: Mando: Grogu is my son now. His name is now Din Grogu Fans: Awww! So sweet! Rey: I'm Rey Skywalker Fans: CHILDHOOD AND FRANCHISE RUINED!' Like, bruh, it's literally the same thing
I would argue at least they make it feel like a father son relationship through 2 seasons. That moment is earned to an extent. Rey claiming to be a Skywalker imo was no where even close to being earned. Like her kiss with Kylo Ren, it came straight out of left field. She said “I spent three days training with THE Luke Skywalker, so I am now an honorary member of the Skywalker bloodline”🤦♂️ worse when you remember those three days were just one hour and a half to us the audience
Except that Din and Grogu have had 3 seasons of buildup and their relationship actually existed. Luke was basically just an asshole who reluctantly taught Rey a few tricks and then died. There’s no reason for her to take his name. It’d make more sense for her to be a Solo since she actually had a budding relationship with Han in TFA, became close with Leia throughout the trilogy, and loved Ben in the end.
I feel the opposite way. This season was very unpredictable. But only because I was expecting something and they gave us nothing. Nobody predicted that.

I wouldn't say super excited but I am on the lookout for Season 4 when it comes out... now Andor Season 2 on the other hand
@@themoviecritic1092 same. Tho with Mando going south I really hope Andor won’t too.
@@NinthShinigami I don't think Andor will steer off course tbh, but I can see where that worry comes from.
Hey Sean will we get Star Trek Picard content with the s3 finale dropping tomorrow? If not do you think it improved on the first two seasons?
Perfect episode to me tbh. Just made me feel good
Maybe my favorite finale so far. I got really emotional. Sure there wasn't an appearance of a character (Luke in 2x8)or an Item (Darksaber in 1x8) fans know, but that doesn't make it less good.
Season 2 finale was personally my favourite as Mando saying goodbye to Grogu made me cry but BoBF ruined that so this is probably my new favourite by the season 2 finale being pointless now
Idk Season 2's Finale can't be topped imo despite it being completely pointless now
@@TheeDawson It was definitely pointless but Idk I'd still say it's a great finale
@@themoviecritic1092 ye idk. I'm kinda bummed out as this season and BoBF have left a sour taste in my mouth for the rest of the show
@@TheeDawson Oh no I completely agree
Is it intentional that Grogu’s theme sounds like the first order theme?
The finale made me happy so it’s great in my book
What wasn't done in this season, will be done in next season
Both The Book of Boba Fett and Mando season 3 have baffled me with their writing decisions. I genuinely do not understand what is going on in thei writers' heads when they write some of this stuff. "Odd" was the perfect word to describe these storytelling decisions.
I'm still confused about who was supposed to train the Gideon clones in the way of the force
Great Video!
I just think the cloning stuff was put in to show the ground work for how Palpatine was brought back, i dont think it is meant to be paid off on this show
They could do clone Moff Gedion takes Revenge in season 4 that would be interesting
But the way they set up season 4 is going to be back like season 1 vibes than going on adventures
I would Love to see a clone Moff Gedion in season 4, that he becomes Vader like or something
And and he destroys Navarro And Mando and Grogu have to flee
Then Mando would ask for the help of Luke Skywalker
Luke Skywalker vs Clone force User Moff
I personally think that would be kind of cool
Good idea, maybe it could work. Hope this wasn’t the end of Moff Gideon. Kind of a weak way to go out.
Season 4 is going to be about Bo Katan. The producers already said that she’s the new Mandalorian.
@@WesternXC they're not going to get rid of and Grogu, because he's their biggest product value they're not going to have another season
Without Mando, and wherever mando Goes, Grogu Follows, they're not going to replace Mando,
Not a fantastic season but had it's moments and excited for the future of Season 4.
The finale in the book of boba Fett was better than the finale in season 3
I still like this season and I myt rewatch it soon
I wish it had ended a different way. It definitely could have been better!
Great episode and season
Will you do a ranking of all Mandalorian episodes again? Think that would be super interesting
Mando showed why he's the best in the parsec
I wonder if the mythosaur was cut out for budget
Video idea Sean. How you would have done Mandelorian Season 3
Chekhov's Gun was loaded with blanks.
13:38 only secrets the sith knew! 😂😂
I guarantee they are saving the force cloning plot for the heir to the empire movie in a few years.
Honestly I think the theory of the mythasuar coming in and saving the day I think would’ve been way to predictable kinda like the rancor in book of boba so I’m kinda glad they didn’t go that route
But why introduce it if it wasn't going to be used?
Really fun season I really enjoyed it
The reason Moff Gideon didn't get the force is because they are setting up the sequel trilogy and palpatine to return. Nice for continuity but not great for the show I suppose
The Episode was 7 out of 10 and wrapped up the show for mw. The season was a 5.5/10 . Don't really want a season 4 and probably won't bother with it. All roads lead to Jake Skywalker remember Sean.
Its just to small scale. There like 30 Mandalorians to take an entire planet...
Pretty snooze worthy imo, I felt myself only being focused on nitpicks I picked up, nothing felt earned, no built up, suspense, none of the action sequences felt grand or memorable, I will not be able to remember this season after long compared s1 and 2 which I can remember every episode
I think they forced them to extent the next season into 2 and they couldn't pay everything in this season
Well, I loved this episode.
I think more people are upset that their and your naritive didn't pan out
Didn't the Armorer take the Mandalorian wounded up to their capital ship last episode? Soooo .... they are all dead now?!
I was tearing up when grogu made the force bubble to save bo and din from the explosion, man that was cool
Mando actually was in this
Grogu is the apprentice to the Mandalorian, not the apprentice Mandalorian.
W
Yeah it felt so weird that they didn’t bring Moff Gideon back until the second to last episode.
I feel like this episode was good but didn’t feel like a finale at all. 38 min?!?! So many things they could’ve done
Very disappointing season
Star Wars fan logic:
Mando: Grogu is my son now. His name is now Din Grogu
Fans: Awww! So sweet!
Rey: I'm Rey Skywalker
Fans: CHILDHOOD AND FRANCHISE RUINED!'
Like, bruh, it's literally the same thing
I would argue at least they make it feel like a father son relationship through 2 seasons. That moment is earned to an extent. Rey claiming to be a Skywalker imo was no where even close to being earned. Like her kiss with Kylo Ren, it came straight out of left field. She said “I spent three days training with THE Luke Skywalker, so I am now an honorary member of the Skywalker bloodline”🤦♂️ worse when you remember those three days were just one hour and a half to us the audience
It's really not the same
Except that Din and Grogu have had 3 seasons of buildup and their relationship actually existed.
One last R5 cameo. Memberrrr.... 😅
Hi big fan😊
Sean Channing Tatum got damn 🥵
i still liked the season but it definately wasnt as good as season 1 or 2
Dark saber being destroyed sucked
you didn't watch the season finale....because THIS is the real finale
You look like Zach Efrons dad
All this cloning stuff does nothing for me at all so the less they tie into the sequels the better
This episode was all action no substance, it was fine i guess
Didn't like this episode or this season for that matter. Everything was so damn predictable.
I feel the opposite way. This season was very unpredictable. But only because I was expecting something and they gave us nothing. Nobody predicted that.
@@ImTheReverse can't argue with that. Sucks either way
