@@TheKnightess Well, first of all, I think the Fall of Gondolin itself could make an entire movie or part of a season for a First Age tv show. Imagine seeing the city in the Valley of Tumladen for the first time! And then the whole story surrounding these events! Not only the Siege, but the day to day life of these people as well. The forging of the swords you mentioned :) Being a forest lover myself, I'd of course want to see Doriath and Beren and Luthien's story would feature the forest. I'd want to see the Girdle of Melian and how it works visually and of course Thingol and Melian themselves. This too, could be a movie. And then anything regarding the Sons of Feanor and their tragic fall, and the redemption of Finrod Felagund (such a cool character). Not going to lie as I'd like to see the great battles as well as Earendil's Plea to the Valar and the War of Wrath itself. Sorry for the enthusiasm, but the First Age is my favorite and it's a shame that almost every media released outside of books (games, movies etc) are always featuring the Third Age. @@TheKnightess I know you weren't asking me but -I like the Valaquenta because I keep forgetting the names of all the Valar actually that's a lie I've memorised the Valar- I like Beren and Lúthien as well
Bah. They were a lesbian couple who to this day distract the entire population of east coast Rhun with their religion based in a burlesque act, leaving Sauron only the flyover states.
Love your videos so far, just found your channel and you have such wonderful content. Also, no need to apologize about your accent, it actually is really pretty!
Dismayed entirely. Might as well give it to south Korea to make into an artistic drama loyal to the books and let it flashy as they want while not wrecking the story. Think of they do their historical dramas.
There's a fan edit of all 3 hobbit movies cut down to 1 movie about the length of 1 extended lotr movie. It follows the book more closely and is a much better viewing experience. A Google search can probably find you it or a RUclips search. That's how I discovered it
For me, it could have worked as a trilogy, let's be honest The Hobbit is a short book at really just skips ahead between moments. Things like Dol Goldur and fleshing out Bard and Thranduil were needed it's just the way they went aboit it. And the real rrason it sucked was studio interference, insusting on the love stories, Alfrid taking up more time than he should. If Jackson had the time and freedom, it would have been an epic trilogy.
I like how, when confronting Sauron, Galadriel essentially banishes him with the light of Beren and Luthien's Silmaril. The Silmaril they took from Morgoth after Sauron failed to defeat them. I'm sure Morgoth was not best pleased with Sauron when he learnt he'd had them in his clutches and failed to capture them. Disclaimer: Yes, I know it's not the ACTUAL Silmaril, that's up in the sky with Earendil, but it is the LIGHT of that Silmaril non-the-less.
In the Silmarillion they say, Meedhros threw himself with the silmaril into a fiery pit, and it landed beneath the Earth. I am not sure, but what if the Arkenstone is that silmaril.
If that were the case the elves that saw the Arkenstone would've known it was a Silmaril. Considering Thranduil lived in Doriath he has probably seen the Silmaril of Elwing firsthand.
Great job, and NO need to apologize for you accent or pronunciation of words. Hold your head high and be proud of who you are. I have no doubt that many of us could speak well in your native tounge.
"Is he great wizard or more like you?" it makes me sad as in movied bilbo didn't see any of gandalf's true powers like light blast thing in goblin town or light shield around him in dol-guldur, only splitting boulder by one hit of staff
Probably I am wrong but another reference can be when Thranduil claims to have faced the great serpents of the North. Maybe he fled from the fall of Doriath and went to Gondolin and there he fought the dragons but in the books there is nothing about this
Another reference could be either of the final 2 battles of the War of the Jewels. I found it the coolest scene in the trilogy films when his face transforms.
He couldn't have gone TO Gondolin as it was hidden until its destruction, but he could've fought the dragons during the war of wrath, if he joined the armies of the Vanyarin.
At 1:27 minutes, you see one of the only remaining scenes of Gil-Galad, the Elvin King, who was cut from the theatrical version due to indifferences with Peter Jackson. This was the only restored scene, though very short. W.T.F. is he to deny LOTR fans this epic, and very important character? I would very much like to see all Gil-Galad scenes restored to the movie out of respect for J.R.R. Tolkien. No wonder why Christopher Tolkien denied him the rights to make The Silmarillion.
@@hughgedney3393 and yet he's more fearsome than Sauron??? I suppose even grown ass men can be shit scared of a mouse. Everyone has something they fear even if it is ridiculous I suppose.
@@fletchersykes1660 the spider in question is an enormous eldritch horror that fits right into a HP lovecraft story, not some tiny thing you can kill with a shoe.
That spider had devoured the light of the Two Trees of Valinor (basically the precursor of the Sun and the Moon) and had grown to immense size and power from them, as well as eating several Elvish gemstones that Morgoth had stolen. When Morgoth refused to give her the Silmarils, she attacked him and trapped him in her webs of darkness. It took the Balrogs showing up to free him and chase Ungoliant away.
I wouldn't consider the three Gondolin blades to be Silmarillion references, since they were first introduced in the Hobbit and LotR. Any mention of them in the Silmarillion would just be to explain their history. You wouldn't say that Obi-Wan's mention of the clone war in Episode IV was a reference to Episode II, since Episode IV was made in the 70s and Episode II was made in the 2000s. Episode II was made to explain how the clone war started.
