I went into my local big box golf shop to get me one of these...I walked out with a Tour Edge Exotics E723 for $90us... both are excellent and forgiving drivers.
It would have been very interesting to see you loft the head up to 11.5 for the 85 mph swing test. It would be very relevant for a lot of us to see the numbers at that more appropriate loft, and to see how those numbers improve.
You'd be surprised, if I had a £1 for every player I saw and dealt with that still had a 9 degree in play.... I'd most probably be retired in Spain 😊😊👍
Even if he swung every version of the head , 9 or 10 and at all 3 swing speeds for a 6 grid matrix its not going to tell you what numbers you will produce with the club. Use the videos to narrow down the list of clubs to try for yourself.
@@AskGolfNut Exactly and kudos to Mizuno for keeping it another year, I find my high toe strikes go miles, and straight, you literally have to nearly miss the face for it to miss a fairway 😂
Watching this I’m reminded that your review on the 430 10k was a big part (as well as testing) in my decision to shell out the $1k (au) for the Ping. Unfortunately not having any access to the Mizuno meant it wasn’t an option. One of my regular playing partners games an older Mizuno driver with the white head. It’s got to be the best sounding driver I’ve ever heard and he hits it very well!
Thanks for the very good information in your videos. My swing speed has gone down as my age has gone up, from your videos I've learned that in drivers and fairway woods more loft is your friend. Thanks again for all the tests...
The store I am a part-time fitter at has ZERO Mizuno clubs for sale in store (can be purchased on our website though) or for demo. I've begged management to get us some, and to get us the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer, but it apparently is up to Mizuno who they send those out to. Also, I play the ST-Max and it's a fantastic driver. Very forgiving and still relatively low spinning.
I have this Driver as well and I love it. I have hit bad shots and when I reach the ball I am surprised at how far it is down the fairway. If I miss a fairway it's usually by a foot or two.
I bought the ST 23p when it came out 2 years ago...beat everything else . Wore it out! Took about 270 rounds though....will be angling for this one soon....maybe fairways and hybrids too....love a Mizzy😘
They are all repositioned in price... Golfers in 2025 are going to be grabbing bargains and Mizuno are going to have to keep the stocks coming as these will be like hot cakes now 😊👍
such a good review.... but even standing on one leg.... your misses are better than most.... I am forever working on quality of strike and this one looks like a friend...
100% accurate on getting them in people's hands but part of that is Mizunos fault. Finding a Mizuno driver in a big box store is like finding a unicorn in the woods. They might have 1 model ( usually the G) and nothing else! Most have the irons (limited shafts in the fitting carts) but almost never, ever the woods, hybrids or putters. Mizuno needs more Reps in the fitting field OR better yet, do like PXG and open their own fitting stores )( one close to my house would be preferable) . I tried to get the new STmax 3 wood and they were back ordered for over 3 months so inventory is an issue too
😂😂 You tricked us.... So funny.... Fair play to Mizuno, braking the "new drivers every year" ethos set out by the biggest brands (mentioning no names) great review Jay, it makes me want to by another one even though I've already got one 😅😉
Bought a ST230 Max last year at a great price. It's working out very well for me. Not sure I'm a fan of their standard driver length at 45 3/4 though. Superb value though and outstanding performance.
Wait until you see the length of some of the standard lengths in 2025 from other manufacturers ....you'll absolutely hate that 😊 The ST Max can be fitted at any length and when I was Coaching and Custom Fitting full time I lost count for how, many times I added yards and accuracy to golfers by actually reducing the length of the shaft 👍
I bought the st max 230 5 wood to start, loved it so much I got the 3 wood then eventually the driver all with the same shaft (weight/flex). After a few months I took the 5 wood out of the bag and dropped my 3 wood on the 5 wood shaft then driver on the 3 wood shaft. It’s been the best decision I’ve made, I’m swinging the driver faster and it’s much easier to control. Not much change to 3 wood it’s only 0.5” shorter. Maybe hack an inch to start with I don’t think you’d be disappointed
Mainly forgiveness, the ST200 had a pretty good face on it for producing speed but not much in the way of forgiveness in comparison to todays miss hit monsters 🙂👍
Great video. I am thinking about a new driver and I will definitely give Mizuno a try. At the price, it is almost a no-brainer. I do have one question though, you mentioned during the heatmap part of the video, that this was very forgiving, but not the most forgiving driver you have tested. May I ask what that driver was? Also don't push your knee too hard, you only have one left knee!
I will Ian thanks for the concern, in regards to the most forgiving, I will have to say that that information is available on the website www.askgolfnut.com the website members can see the heat maps for all the irons and drivers I have on the database, currently there aren't as many Drivers with heat maps that I would like but I have all the 2025 equipment that I am reviewing being available on the website 👍
I have this driver and I find it has a massive right bias, would you agree? I switched the STZ 230 (because it was right biased) to the STX 230 which I have found to be best working for me, long and straight. I know I have a fade-ish swing but this Max, even making it upright, just goes right.
The X was the Draw bias one and if you were to select a Driver to reduce unwanted curvature then the X would have been the choice and should have been the one that the fitter should suggest. If you are a heavy fader of the ball the MAX won't cure or reduce curvature, what the MAX is amazing at is being smacked from weird and wonderful parts of the face from miss hits and still going where you pointed it 👍
Best thing is to use the find a fitter page on Mizunos website and call them. Get a flavour of how they do things and also consult the relevant review sites to see what normal people have had to say about their experience 👍
Not if you need the X for it's distinct draw bias nature. The Max even though is quite a bit more forgiving doesn't have the same bias so flight will potentially change 👍
The ST Max point at retail adjustment won't be until sometime in January as its classed as a 2025 repositioning. Until all the equipment is released to retail the original prices will remain. Keep an eye out for the prices to change. I'm already hearing USA have changed the pricing 👍

@ I’m not surprised. The value they offered with the previous models were great. $35 a dozen in the US and very little performance difference between a Pro V1. I hope they’re still sub $50.
This is embargo release, so PAR Point At Retail for these won't be until the end of January. To be fair I feel sorry for the retailers that had these in stock already at the original 399 price. Still wait for the flurry to happen soon 👍
The Mizuno Store on Amazon has it at $245 (£199) for me currently. May just be out of stock currently in the UK. I bet even shipping it from the US would be less than £100.

Hi Nathan, I've got a lot of testing of current and upcoming Drivers very soon. There are some on the website www.askgolfnut.com where my website members can see the heat maps for the drivers and irons on the database (have far more Irons than, Drivers currently) and will be adding all the new 2025 irons and drivers to it for them to view 👍
I only asked really as a lot of the players I know, well the majority really buy mail order and opt for one of the standard shaft options they think will suit them and then I see a lot of reviewers test these clubs and they'll stick a velocore in there which is normally anywhere from £200/300 upcharge, it would be good to see some of the standard options tested. Oh I do know it's best to be fitted though.
You can get a brand new 2022 Cobra LTDx Max for $199 USD directly from Cobra just FYI.. I have the LTD X and it's a greattttttt driver. HZRDS Smoke RDX Blue Stiff Shaft. I was thinking about buying another one as a back up at that price.
Absolutely if you know your spec and it's available 👍 for a current custom fittable club with its blend of Forgiveness, Performance and Price I know of no other club that beats it as a balance 👍
@terrypeeples1942 all the upcoming reviews irons and drivers and all the heat maps and launch characteristics will be on the website www.askgolfnut.com 👍🏻
First driver they made which they concentrated on face speed so it was a rocket out of the middle. If you need any more forgiveness then the Max will be an easy transition 👍
Tested it and hated it…. Had nothing on the QI10 max or Ping G430 10K for me. I ended up with QI10 max and what a season driving wise I had. Looooong and sooooo forgiving
Not all clubs suit all people so the good thing is that you went to a professional fitting and found that it doesn't work with your swing dynamics. The important thing is you did find your preferred option and that's brilliant 👍👍
I wonder what changes Mizuno will make, arguably their driver line up is confusing, but what will persuade fat Dave to pick up and test rather than one of the marketing big boys. I’m sure if we all did more of us would play. Pricing the same as Ping and TM with such a low resale value even 12 months on, something has to change. 🤞🤞🤞
Not sure why Dave has to be fat but 😊 I had this driver, loved it, new one came out from Titleist so I had to get it, I was better with the mizuno, so back to it I went 😂😂
Nope. Love my mizuno irons but never buying a driver that I can use to shave with the top being so glossy. I wish manufacturers would offer both matte and gloss finish.
100% of the reason I won't play a Mizuno driver is that damn carbon weave. Can't even look at it. If they came out with an all black crown, I'd be all in.
Im sure they have lowered the price because they are making the same model still , but even if it was a brand new release the produces the best numbers for any driver and its half the price of the real new 2025 models.
I did use the word DOOMED :-) just wondering how other brands will react if Mizuno continue their price trend.... Surely has to make things cheaper for all golfers... which is always a win 👍
This would have been in my bag, but the stock shafts for high swing speeds was basically non existing. I was disappointed with mizuno, because I told everybody how good this driver was and it wasn't in my bag because I didn't want to pay the extra money for an upgraded shaft.
@AskGolfNut All that mizuno sent the fitter in an X flex was the HZRDUS green, and that shaft doesn't perform for me. I was so disappointed my whole bag is mizuno except the ai smoke triple diamond driver.
@ryandaughrity9732 interesting as most fitting accounts had the compliment of shafts originally and then as the head changes happen the replaced shafts get retired and new options shipped out so surprising that he didn't have all the options available 🤔👍
please explain? it wasn't supposed to be an all encompassing metric but as relative comparison. Obviously the spin profile of the head can make a big differrence but to prove that all the drivers work very very similarly then it works well enough 👍
No one..... I'm NOT sponsored, I put in my bag what I want to play and use. Yes I get all the equipment from every manufacturer for free so it's doesn't cost a thing, but it also means I'm not governed to say anything about anything unless it's truthful. This is why I do all the heat map and different swing speed testing using GCQuad as the Quad doesn't care and has no bias. If I swing differently it will pick it up and show I'm cheating..... Which I don't obviously as it would show 👍👍
I went into my local big box golf shop to get me one of these...I walked out with a Tour Edge Exotics E723 for $90us... both are excellent and forgiving drivers.

I did use the word DOOMED :-) just wondering how other brands will react if Mizuno continue their price trend.... Surely has to make things cheaper for all golfers... which is always a win 👍
@@AskGolfNut can see an upgrade to my st z 230😁
@petemajor4454 won't cost as much too 😊
Are they reducing the fairways as well?
You need a narrower stance to allow more hip rotation on the back swing.
As the man said he has a bad knee he's trying to protect with a changed stance at the moment.
I'd swing sitting on a chair if I could 🙂👍
Mate, I love your content but I don't want you to permanently injure yourself. Is it OK to go full send?
This would have been in my bag, but the stock shafts for high swing speeds was basically non existing. I was disappointed with mizuno, because I told everybody how good this driver was and it wasn't in my bag because I didn't want to pay the extra money for an upgraded shaft.
The 6.5 Green or Black HZRDUS didn't do it for you? The Black especially is pretty darn rigid 👍
G430 10k is better
distance / ball speed = meaningless
please explain? it wasn't supposed to be an all encompassing metric but as relative comparison. Obviously the spin profile of the head can make a big differrence but to prove that all the drivers work very very similarly then it works well enough 👍
😂 no prizes for guessing who your club sponsor is
Which I don't obviously as it would show 👍👍
Bought one at Xmas brand new 279 quid👌not had chance to try it on course.. Feels great at range though. 🏌️
Bargain £279 😮👍
