Greatly appreciated 👍
Charlie’s videos are always worth watching. I’ve learnt a lot from them, and l appreciate the time and effort Charlie puts in to make them. If l’ve taken Charlie’s good tips on board my pup will be better trained than my older lab !
These days a down to earth no nonsense attitude is refreshing
I am with you re the Trialling thing, I have one dog I intended to go down that road with, to get my foot in the door (very hard to do I discovered) I went and held the game bag at a few trails, without going into detail I soon had my mind changed ! Much prefer to get an honest days work out my boys standing in th pi$$ing rain somewhere. I very much agree with Mordor ethos, good luck team.
Love this channel. I’ve watched a lot of training videos, many of them are unrealistic. I have took so much away from your training and wish I had found and understood your videos earlier in my dogs life. I’m making good progress though, dog was walking at heel today at a busy food festival.
Your best video yet … this straight talking Yorkshireman is impressed with the straight talking Scot and his no nonsense approach to training👍
You are by far the best dog trainer I have seen. It's so enjoyable to watch your videos and hear your thoughts. Thanks for another one!
This was interesting generally but the point I liked most was Charlie saying that the actual shooting is not the be all and end all. I am slowly training my lab with a gundog trainers but have no desire to work her on a shoot. She enjoys the training, and I do, and it beneficial for general behaviour as she is a pleasure to live, play and walk with, well most of the time excepting the giddy moments! The trainers organise low level scurry type competitions which are very relaxed and good fun. I always enjoy the videos.
Interesting watch, as someone who predicted a lot of your answers re dogs from knowing you and working for you and with your dogs over many years it brought back a lot of memories
Great video. My question would be - is there an age limit to when a dog could be trained or can you train a dog of any age?
You can improve any dog but older means more set in ways
3:11 Yes me too, that's why I always spent any parties with the dogs and not the people.
I lost my last 2 springer girls last year within 11 months. Ruby was 12, Millie 13. It's just Jura & I now. She's a little black working cocker. Millrowan Black Magic. She was fully trained and worked by her previous owner, my good friend Frank, who very sadly died of Covid in October 2020. He asked me to keep her. What an honour. I've never officially worked her, but this year I'm taking her to a friends shoot to do some beating. I know she will be in her element. She is fab, the only problem, & I;m aware this is my fault, getting her to stay at heel, by me, *off leash* until I out her. Could you cover this in a video, it's her only fault, which has been caused by me. Thanks very much for your content Charlie.
Great video, looking forward to visiting you in October. 😊
Ash, " the shoe is on the other sock"..... Who dresses you in the morning.....!!😂😂 Great video as always.👍
Very good video. I can totally relate to you charlie say it as it is , love it.😂
Great video loved it. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Will do!
Great video and looking forward to spending 3 days at Mordor
Great discussion
Great straight talking video 👍
What’s your thought on keeping a pup in a kennel? What age would you put them into it? If you have a busy 8-5 job what advise would you give regarding keeping a pup in a kennel? I know that early ages the pup would be with me at work but in the future it would be
Would like to know who in the gundog world has influenced him most and why , and what he thinks off place board training 🤔.
Keep up the good work
What do you guys feed the dogs and also does it make any difference if a working dog is kept in kennel or in house thanks
Great video 😊
Those tan lines are the head crack me up.
love how u came up with the name ....😂
I would like to like again own another dog ..my Great Dane got cancer so bad we had to put him to sleep .. I was working so the wife did the deed ..taking him to the vet .. it effected her so bad that she wants me to wait until she dies before I get another dog .it is a shame because like you Inalways had a dog ..anyway my question is @ my age 78 do you feel it would be OK to get a gun dog .. I have a fenced back yard & a school yard @ the end of the block .. & healthy enough to get out & work with it ..I am a calm fella & a fine Lab or Springer would be great ..as a young lad our neighbor trained German Short haired Pointers .. they were amazing but he was harsh & quick to wack them & later he would go out in their pen & lie with them ..the reason I watch all your shows over & over is because you are firm but not cruel to the animals …my father’s family were from Scotland ..
I always do your “Mordor” voice when telling off Clarence (13 months) …. When I take my Spanador out I use the figure of 8 sliplead, purely because she pulls (nature calls), 15 min later…Thereon she is either off the lead or normal sliplead. Should I be training her without the figure of 8 - do you think she will grow out of this and suddenly realise figure of 8 not fun? What would you do.
Have loved your videos and asides, a big thank you.
Any good books about dogs and gundogs? History of breeds, ethology etc?
How much do you make as someone who trains dogs? I’m thinking of going into training dogs but I’m worried about the salary
Don’t do it for the money! If that is a concern it is not for you I don’t think
Sorry
Get a lab probably
Also probably get a dog with some training to make your life more enjoyable
