It's probably hard to understate the number of Americans (believers or otherwise) who can recite Luke 2:8-14 from memory because of it's inclusion in the animated special A Charlie Brown Christmas, which has been shown on television every year for decades. Perhaps some prominent piece of Japanese media could serve to increase awareness of the story of the Nativity in Japan.

It's a solid and modern translation (shin-kai-yaku, 新改訳) , something equivalent to NKJV, ESV etc.
