That is what this channel offers locations few foreigners if any ever visit. If you want to experience any culture you need to hang with the locals not other foreigners. Umphang is one of those places to visit to relax. Thanks for your comment and watching.
Umphang is a great place to relax away from the tourist locations. Boring for most but you get to experience a part of Thailand not yet ruined by mass tourism. Thanks for you comment and watching. Please Subscribe to the channel if you are interested in what it offers.

This was such a peaceful video to watch and listen to. Some of the sounds and scenery even caught the attention of my cat while I was watching. A beautiful place!
Umphang is unique as it has somehow managed to avoid the damage caused by mass tourism that has ruined some of the most beautiful places in Thailand. This channel is about traveling to places unknown both rural and the larger cities of Southeast Asia. The majority of channels about Southeast Asia tend to stick with the same old material over and over again. Where I travel you have to be willing to toss the guide book or whatever in the trash and break away from the hordes of foreigners. Thanks for watching and your comment.

This is a part of thailand I would love to explore more of if I ever had a chance! Its so beautiful to see all the incredible natural wonders that surround you! Simply amazing!
There are still places to get away from the madness thankfully. You just have to be willing to go. Please leave a Like if you enjoyed this very short travel episode. And thanks for making an effort to comment.
This is one of the few places that I have 'been on my way to' for 25 years but still haven't made it. There are a number of things I would like to do in and around Umphang, including arguably the most spectacular place in Thailand. Great destination!
Umphang is still a great place not yet ruined by mass tourism nor foreign influence like other trashy looking tourist/expats slums. Likely considered very boring for most foreigners. After returning here after twenty years was sad to notice a national eyesore has appeared in town called 7-11. Now at least foreigners have a place to eat. If you are looking for a quiet place far away from the average chaos Umphang still offers that. The Death Highway getting there is a story in itself.
Sadly Pai is ruined basically Khao San Road north Full Moon Party idiots. I remember it well when it was a beautiful small mountain village with few foreigners. Now just a freak show. Umphang because of its distance, road conditions , lack of party atmosphere tends to thin out most of the riff raff thankfully.
I've not been to Umphang that much; many years ago I travelled down the death highway to do a border run at Mae Sot, they were giving out single stamps at the time and not the full-page visas you get at other borders. I enjoy how you travel everywhere by public transport. it's a great way to keep the cost down for sure.
I do not have a car here so the only way to get to many of the locations I visit is either public transport or figuring out another way or getting there. Thankfully often a Thai will offer me a ride if they see me walking. Having lived in remote Alaska many years you learn how to be able to get around and survive on your own if need be. Came in handy for Southeast Asia. Thanks for watching and your comment. Leave a Like if you enjoyed the episode.
I doing fine and still wandering after all these years. Umphang is not very accessible and one of the reasons I like the place. There are many more locations like this you just have to know where to look. Give a Like if you enjoyed the show.
@@destinationsroadslesstraveled Our friend Steven O bought a condo about an hour from Bankok close to the beach. He loves Thailand also and spends a lot of time there. He says everyone is so nice. I am impressed with the quality of your videos.
I hope he has made an effort to learn some Thai and I hope he did not buy the condo in Pattaya. Thanks for the comment on the channel. Share with others that might be interested in something a bit different.

Fantastic images! Very nicely done!
Thanks for your comment and watching. Heading into southern Isan next week after many years. The Thai dialect there should be interesting.

Thailand, such a lush verdent land. This is what Pai looked like 35 years ago.
@@destinationsroadslesstraveled yes I spent one day in Pai on my way back from Mae Hong Son in 2009. That was enough for me.
My last trip there in 2005 nothing but a freak show.

What time in the morning was that with the monks
Likely before 6 am as I was wandering around the town.
