      Sean Avery . I'm also your age.☺
      There are are a lot of horror narrator's on RUclips now. But I only listen to a handful, who are unique in their style and who choose great stories to narrate. There are only a few whose voices are very easy to listen to..
      The others seem to copy in an obvious way. Especially the outro"s.
      The good Dr C is one of the best.

    Wow I love this story. Been listening to creepy pastas for the past 3-4 years now so I come to expect what’s going to happen in most of these stories but this one it just leaves you thinking. It’s a great explanation for why we get paranoid when we’re lacking sleep. Good work doctor thanks for making my day!

    I have a chemical imbalence that essentially blocks rem sleep, and see the shadows and shadow people daily. I think there is some sort of parellel or alternate realm that meshes into ours, and lack of sleep lets us take a peek into the other side. Some people get scared at first which i understand, but after years i personally have grown to accept their just always there. Have some wack proof of such, seen by others, only adding to the mystery. Very interesting story choice and great narration👍

    • @BitchyBubblez
      @BitchyBubblez 3 года назад

      As someone else who is slowly coming to terms with seeing the shadow people and any shadow moving due to severe insomnia, any advice on not letting it scare me? Soemtimes they reach out to touch me and I can't help but scream and try to get away. Doesn't help that I'm petrified of the dark 😭😭

    • @shitneyb5562
      @shitneyb5562 2 года назад

      @@BitchyBubblez less meth maybe? Kidding, I honestly hadn't heard of normal people seeing shadow people?! That's effing terrifying. I've only had one single 'dream' that ever scared me to that extent, could've been sleep paralysis, but something was in my room throwing shit and it turned to me and I woke up just before but it was still there for a minute somehow and I forced myself out of it and had to wake my partner. I'm the one who goes out for noises, predators, intruders, etc, I really dont rattle easily but seeing something in your space while so vulnerable is different, something unquantifiable, it's so much different than a bear or a burglar or something scary we can identify. How awful for you. Has your sleep improved over the last year?

    i love how at the start of dr creepens videos he says something along the lines of "sit down with your favourite drink and listen" , but im always in bed when i listen to him so cant be drinking which is funny...but its a unique quirk he has that is rare from other youtube narrators...i quess after over half a year listening to this guy i need to do what he tells me and drink at somepoint with his stories...his voice also is uneique and its awesome for what he does with it....you can tell he is passionate about his narrations which adds a great vibe to his videos but equally can add a creepy feeling to his stories in a way i guess....
    I am about to listen to your video dr creepen and im sure its going to be awsome!!!

    That was pretty awesome :D I have to admit that my bullshit-o-meter went off at the start, because I know a few things about brain chemistry and how sleep works, why it's important to have dream phases etc. But that didn't take away too much from the story. The pacing and music and, most of all, your narration totally pulled me in!

    @AshaBays 5 лет назад

    As someone who has debilitating chronic fatigue and narcolepsy, as someone who can take long release adderall or dexedrine and still fall asleep, I cannot imagine staying awake for days and days, but because I struggle to reach and stay in deep, restorative, and REM sleep, I think I understand all too well what it probably feels like to not sleep for days. Getting eight hours of sleep and waking up feeling like you've been awake for 3 days straight makes me regularly start to go nuts, so a month without sleep is going to drive anyone batshit insane.
    Sleep disorders like narcolepsy mean that hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations, night terrors, and sleep paralysis are pretty common. Since I also have daytime hallucinations from bipolar disorder, I'm finding this narration way too relatable. After a lifetime of living with hallucinations, I'm pretty good at ignoring the really weird stuff, and distinguishing between what's real and what's in my head, because after 40+ years of this, I can usually distinguish the slightly different "feel" that hallucinations have, but sometimes I just can't tell, and so I have to use my phone to take a photo or video or even and audio recording, and usually I won't hallucinate the same exact thing looking at my phone, but I can always send it to someone and ask them what they see or hear.
    I rarely experience distinct aural hallucinations like voices, but the few times I have, it has been after the murders of my aunt and my mother. I have had experiences where I've distinctly heard their voices. Thank goodness it's only been mundane things they've "said", but it is unbelievably unsettling.
    Really, this entire story hits too close to home. Thanks for giving me an existential crisis, Doc! Do we know for sure that the other study participants even existed???

Excellent writing, and such a deeper meaning to ponder over. I think there’s so much right in front of us, but we simply aren’t meant to see, and evolution or just plain old survival itself has kept it at bay. I really enjoyed this story! ☠️

    that was interesting. I toyed with the idea that there were no others in the octagon, but that didn't make sense (then again, the story is all about things that don't make sense in the normal world). anyway, it did make me think.

    That was a good one. I pulled duty one time that was 6hrs on and 6hrs off for a week. The 6 off was when you had to take care of your uniforms, meals, showers, ect. After 4 days, I felt just like those guys. After 6 I was seeing things. It was a trip and a half.

    Lack of sleep causes. Paranoia, over stimulation of the mind, auditory hallucinations, visual hallucinations, the feeling of being trapped and of being watched. It basically makes understanding what's real and whats not impossible to decipher. And sleep becomes near impossible because the body enters survival and self preservation mode and refuses to shut down. Until the subconscious feels safe again. It generally starts between 4-5 days without sleep but doesn't begin to get scary until about 7 days.

    OK, I think it was pretty good, plus its reassuring to know that im not the only one whos mind can delve into the abstract.

      Spot on and then some! You really set the tone of it well. You played it kinda the cool burned out way rather than the hysterical way which it could have been read. But I think your way makes more sense as it is coming from someone who is scientifically minded. And the voice made for porn doesn't hurt!

    I would be sad to give up sleep. I may be a very well practiced insomniac but I do get to sleep eventually. And dreams? Oh vivid and often with odd story lines. Does sleep and dreaming protect us form something? Yes, the monsters in ourselves. Sleep well dearest Dr.
