    You have no freakin idea how helpful this was for me. Currently completely replacing the entire a/c system and heater core in my 78 short box and could not find any info on how to get to the blower motor. Mine is working but since I already had the evap and heater core out I was going to replace it. This video kept me from burning the rig to the ground out of frustration. Myself, and my now heated and cooled, 78 thank you!

    Very good and informative video. I've got a 78 F-250 with a 460 in it and when the heater is on, it makes a whole lot of noise. Looks like the blower motor. I'll watch the video a few more times before tackling this job. Thanks for posting

    The Haynes manual says doing that with a truck with Factory AC is more than the home mechanic can handle. I don't think so and you proved it.

    Good job man thanks for the video. I noticed you said that the old motor would make your truck stink. Funny I think I have the exact same issue I'll be ordering a new fan too.

    You did a good job on the video...But you left out a few things that the Viewers should know...
    Your truck didn't have an A/C Compressor or any of it's lines hooked up.....
    This is the A/C- Heater unit that is only found on Vehicles with A/C....
    The only thing you failed to mention was, that if the Air Conditioning on the vehicle works...
    The Freon will have to be removed and the 2 A/C lines going into the side of the unit will have to be disconnected before you can remove the unit from the engine bay....
    Once work is completed and everything is reinstalled, for the A/C to work again, The unit will have to be serviced and Freon reinstalled.....
    Other than this,,, your video is pretty much spot-on for this type of access and repair work...

    Great job; thank you for sharing with us the processes of doing it. I have a question for you the cable that makes move the vent attached to the rod on minute 8:56 where it goes? In my truck, it doesn't move.

      It should go to the dash where the AC/Heat controls are.

    Mine was squeaking like a mf and now its not, thanks for the tutorial
    If the heater radiator is stuck in the bottom, you can tap it out by hitting the ends in the back with a rubber mallet so it doesnt deform them

    Did you ever pressure check your evaporator to make sure there are no leaks? I was thinking about pressurizing it and spraying soapy water on it to verify no leaks.

    question...I almost have my heater box out but it seems to be hung up on something. Are there a few screws that you have to take out from the heater duct that is to the left of the glove box opening? I was able to remove the heater duct that supplies air to the far right air duct. My thinking is the box is still somehow connected to the air duct in the middle portion of the dash. Any help would be appreciated.

    There should be an update kit to mount the blower motor from the other side, for easy access...
    8:29, whoever designed that, should be kilt...

      From taking the whole box out of the truck to reinstalling it and having working heat in the truck, it probably took 4-6 hours total. I drove around with a piece of cardboard over the hole for a while. It is by no means a quick job.

    Hi, This video has been real helpful …Thanks! I did notice that you didn’t put on that rubber insulation around the heater core. Did this all work out ok? Just curious because I’m doing mine now and the rubber is all disintegrated. Thanks Again!!

      It worked alright for me. It may not be quite as warm as it could be but it still heats up the truck.

    Did you have to take out the bolt on the bottom left corner, looking from the front?

    • @cronedentside74
      @cronedentside74  6 лет назад

      Yes, I believe there are a total of three bolts along the bottom that hold the box on the firewall.

      Jedidiah Crone Dang, how did you get the one in the hole between the heater box and fender support that is super far down in the hole?

    • @cronedentside74
      @cronedentside74  6 лет назад

      I was lucky enough to buy a truck that's missing many nuts and bolts so I didnt have to wrestle with it. You may try coming in through the cab side. If you need more working room, you can always remove your glove box. Hope you're able to figure something out.

    • @Loga1a2b
      @Loga1a2b 6 лет назад

      Jedidiah Crone Thanks for the video and the help. The nut is off the cab side, but the bolt seems to still be stuck on the engine side. I might not need to remove it since I got the nut off but we will see.

    I am doing this right now and cannot figure out what the purpose of that wire that goes through the evaporator. Does it hook up to anything on the inside?
