I won’t buy SBoy out of principle. It’s not even the price (although overpriced) but it’s more the way I feel some fragrance influencers hype it up for their own personal financial gain as much as anything.
I have to also totally agree on Sauvage Elixir. There’s something about it that I just don’t care for. When I tried it, all I could think is how I couldn’t believe it got as many positive reviews as it did.
I don’t do some hyped fragrances for the same reason.
The thing with Sauvage Elixir is, it isn’t great on paper, and isn’t great up close. But the longer it’s on, the better it gets. And in the air, people just love it. I get a compliment or two, unsolicited, almost every time I wear it.
Supposedly.. Lacoste pour homme is basically what SBoy projects. Would love a confirmation.

I bought sauvage Elixir based on the hype and what I can tell you it's a compliment monster. It projects like a beast and no need to go heavy on the trigger bc it will be too cloying for you the wearer also it's best for the colder temperatures. Performance and scent trail is among the best out there and it's one that I'll always have in my collection.
Sboy had an offputting smell to it. Youre totally fine on not buying it lol. ATH reviewed it. Highly recommend

I didn't like Sauvage Elixir to begin with either. But once my test spray mellowed out on my skin I understood the hype. Bought a bottle and it has gotten great reactions. Definitely don't see this for guys in their 20s. I'm in my mid 30s so this Definitely shines for me.
I'm 16 and love it lmao I got lattafa asad not that similar because of the vanilla being dominant after the dry down but I will definitely get a bottle in the future
I’m 24 and Elixir smells AMAZING. My 18 year old brother also loves it, it smells so unique, fresh and clean.

People think explorer has no performance. Not the case. It just causes extreme nose blindness. I wear 4 to 5 sprays. I can't smell it after a while but someone came into the stock room at work and all she could smell was me and I got nothing. It's wrongly accused of bad performance all the time. When I go back to my coat after a full day at work it's still there.
I don't get the old dude vibe but fragrance is very subjective and it's cool we all have different experiences with them. To my nose it's not a straight up Aventus clone. It's definitely inspired by it for sure which is right there in the opening. The lack of blackcurrant is a definite difference, also the dry down is woody with cacao and vetiver which isn't present in Aventus. There's enough differences in the two to appreciate them both. In my experience people who say it doesn't last long haven't worn it as a signature scent like I do and haven't experienced some people's reactions to it hours after spraying it on. Skin chemistry will always play a part in that so it'll be different for some. As a whole i Iove the stuff and I'm on my third bottle now.

Sauvage elixir is so strong it smells bad up close and when first sprayed. I was put off by this release at first. But when it sits on your skin for a while and you apply sparingly it has a very nice scentcloud.

Lately, I have been searching for some exciting fragrances because it seems like they are all perfect and excellent (according to RUclips creators), and so far, I’ve only liked two that I would buy from dozens I’ve smelled: the Le male elixir and Eau Givrée.
The first one I ever liked enough to buy was Sauvage Elixir, and I was completely unaware it was popular or so polarizing. My girlfriend got the sampler with her purchase and liked it, so she handed it over to see if I did too… the first time I smelled it, I hated it.
However, I wanted to use the tester during a short trip and ended up loving it. However, I never ever spray more than once. And even that is too much sometimes; what I’ve started doing is spraying at least an hour before leaving the house not to intoxicate everyone around me.
I’ve gotten so many compliments with it, but to be honest, I want some other things because I can’t wear them during the day or pretty much for anything other than partying or date nights. I do not have a collection; I have two, so most of the time, I wear nothing if it doesn’t fit the setting.
I totally agree that everyone who wears this to the gym, an airplane, or pretty much every other setting , other than the ones I mentioned above, is an asshole.
But then again, I think that of every guy wearing perfumes in these settings.
It’s olfactory terrorism.

I totally apreciate your honesty, not all hyped fragances are lady killers, personal opinion I don't like Savage, Aventus, Bleu, Le Male Le Beau, all the Scandal line, all The Stronger With You and all those candy sweet like Bacarat Rouge or Erba Pura and their respectives clones.
I like that you're sharing your thoughts about what fragrances do not work well, as opposed to what does. Oh, I enjoy your videos about the good ones, too, but it's rare to get a glimpse of what can be a turn off to a woman, so we can avoid making unnecessary mistakes and wasting our cash. I would enjoy watching you review some of the more unheard of fragrances that are worth checking out. In fact, I'd enjoy watching you read the newspaper aloud. You're just so attractive and pleasant to listen to!

I also despise TF Tobacco Vanille (too cloying) and PDM Byerley (off-putting) and Mancera's Hindu Kush (smells like ...nothing)

I have to disagree with you on Sauvage Elixer. The drydown which takes about 15-30 minutes to develop smells magnificent. You should have 2 test strips. The begining test strip and the drydown test strip. I do believe your opinions though. 2 sprays at most. The atomizer is pressurized so you can control the amount of juice you want on your skin. Lol on the Dior Sauvage Elixir, your absolutely right. 1 spray is enough, but I do like it Erica. I noticed body chemistry on this one can be a plus or a minus as well on certain people.
There is also a inspired version of it from Lattafa called ASAD which runs about $25 dollars, to me I smell certain similarities, but it’s not as potent as the Elixir.

You are so right about these colognes or at least the ones that I know. I also hate Dior Sauvage. I bought a bottle a few years ago. I loved it at first but three months into it I gave it away. I hate when influencers talk about it all the time. And the other one I hate more than Sauvage is Acqua di Gio and all of its flickers. Just curious when you compared that one to having silver mountain water vibes from Creed, do you not like that one from Creed? Thanks good video I like this type of video. Glad you did it!
When people do side by side comparisons on frags you will see this often one person loves it it's sexy to them and others hate it. And notes can be picked up or tuned out with everyone's noses having different ways they perceive to be something even the perfumer didn't plan on. So remember don't get mad because someone says something bad about a fragrance you enjoy. There is no fragrance in the world that everyone loves or hates.

@@eaudericaI know what you mean with Sboy I believed the hype and was big time disappointed it's growing on me now after layering with synergy. Sauvage was a let down based on the hype but wasn't bad just not worth 200 for the small bottle. I'm just glad I was able to take it back to Ulta. By far the worst over hyped scent I've blind bought was Tony Iommi Monkey special 🤮 im just glad I got the 5 mil bottle and not the full bottle XERJOFF can keep that Fancy bottle and guitar pic

I bought into the S Boy hype too. I love the scent for sure, but that price is brutal for it. I prefer the OG Sauvage to Elixir. Haven't tried the others at all.

I got sboy with discounts for about $150, I like it but agree that it’s a $100 max fragrance, so I’m not likely to buy again unless it goes down to or below that. A sampler I picked up recently that I’m loving is YSL Babycat. Great review 🙏
The thing with Sauvage Elixir is it that it doesn’t smell good on paper or up close. And it isn’t my favorite, but I cannot hardly wear it without getting an unsolicited compliment or two. Probably my top 5 most complimented.
Also, I only wear it when I’m going to be outside in the open air.
Everyone has different tastes, as long as you love it that’s what matters ❤️🔥

MB Explorer... I think it smells pretty good. I agree on the performance. I have never smelled Aventus. I think if this is a not the best clone then Aventus must be outstanding.

Least favorite sample I ever bought was Frederic Malle Portrait of A Lady. It’s like a mossy, rotten rose. I’m starting to hate Baccarat Rouge 540 since I smell it everywhere if I’m in a city.

Elixir is my first Sauvage and it gave me headaches and I thought it was just me! Is the EDT a safe buy compared to Elixir or even worth it at all? I am already enamoured with my other signatures like YSL Y EDP. This video was excellent, I just subscribed because your content is very helpful
If you must have a Sauvage I’d choose the EDP.
The EDT gives me headaches just like the elixir. The EDP is slightly more complex with some sweetness of vanilla.

No, you are not alone I got Sauvage EDP and I like it but the Sauvage Elixir is well it smells to me like rotten celery. I am going to give it away to my nephew.
I went to the mall earlier this week and tried 20+ different fragrances. I only liked about 4 of them. It’s crazy all the fragrances I tried all have a pretty big hype train behind them. I think people lie for content on RUclips lol. This video is refreshing.

Erica, we always want you to be HONEST with us, just because a certain fragrance gets a lot of hype and the masses seem to like it doesn't mean YOU have to like it nor your viewers. We watch your videos to see your specific opinion on many fragrances and we want to see what you would recommend for us to wear. No need to sugarcoat if you want us to smell good, we want more no filter vids and vids on fragrances you don't like. Of course try before you buy for any fragrance.

Personally love Sauvage Elixir, and it's not all that popular in comparison to the other Sauvages and doesn't smell anything like them. So I'm happy to wear it. It's been a while actually, coz I wouldn't wear it in warmer weather. The dry down is great.

Erica I think you are spot on with Sauvage Elixir, I have the Parfum and enjoy it better. I got SBOY on a deep discount and didn’t get hit with the $250 price tag. I think it smells great, and it does project well off my skin. I think if SBOY is suffering from the name on the bottle no the scent 🤷🏾♂️

Dear Erica, in the beginning I was not quite sure if I will like your channel. But now I just love it and with every video I like it more. You bring up fragrances no-one talks about like Perris Monte Carlo. I also feel like you are more down to earth than other RUclipsrs. Especially the point you bring up in this video. It feels like most other RUclipsrs like every fragrance.
Regarding the choices in the video I absolutely agree on Mephisto. I could not stand it and had to give it away. Same goes for Club de Nuit Intense Edt.
The most horrible fragrance I tried was an Oud fragrance from Byredo. I think Oud immortal. Even our dogs went nuts smelling that.

Dior sauvage elixir is my most complimented fragrance. I guess it smells differently on everybody
I don't think Aventus and MB Explorer smell alike at all. I own and like both. I think you are going nose blind to Explorer. Neither are beast mode by any means but longevity is adequate.
I do understand how you feel about the elixir. While it’s way better than the original and has way better performance, it will give you a headache. I prefer Ajmal V since it doesn’t give you a headache. At least not for me. Although it’s more of a fragrance that’s suited for the hotter weather. I tried it in cooler weather, yeah didn’t work out so well. Scent faded away.

I agree about Dior Sauvage Elixir. It is almost sickly sweet. Not very many people say this, but it is way too sweet. Parfum is probably the best in the Sauvage line, and that’s because it’s sweet, but not to the the point of being overwhelming.
I am not a Sauvage lover at all, but I do like Parfum and Very Cool Spray the best. For some reason, though, the Parfum gets crapped on in the fragcomm.
I like the negative reviews, I find it hard to trust positive reviews but you know with negative reviews it's always more genuine
I kinda simultaneously agree and disagree on Mefisto. I find it an awesome scent for a specific mood, but in the end I wear it very rarely, which is why I got a 30ml bottle, and it seems it's not gonna run out in the next 5 years )
I got a sample of Explorer a few months ago, wore it to work (public setting), wasn't initially impressed and couldn't smell it much after a few hours... but over the course of a 9 hour workday received 3 compliments from strangers (all women), the last one around the 6-7 hour mark.
I was pretty confused because it didn't smell great to my nose and the performance seemed terrible. I think I may have gona anosmic and/or it just smells way different in the air than on skin.
It smells beautiful in the air, you could smell it directly from where you sprayed it but wouldn't recommend it still better than CDNIM though. In terms of performance, it doesn't really project after 30 mins but it lasts on my clothes for a whole day but projection is really intimate range or even below 'cuz my girlfriend only caught a whiff during the 12th hour mark of it when she came close to my collar. I've been with her the whole day and only noticed it after 12 hours only when she came really close to me.

As someone that doesn't like 95% of what I smell (not like meaning either hate or think it smells OK) I love/agree with most your opinions. Sauvage Elixir is way too much and Explorer smells super synthetic to me.

DS Elixir is meant to be smelled in the air and not on a strip. Also the opening of it its just not so great. 30 minutes after and the smell is simply very different. Are you judging also from the dry down or only from the opening?
I blind bought most of my fragrances.. Until I recently found a place online, that opperates in my country.. They sell decants, and now I can test perfumes before I commit.. Before that I bought 25 fragances were 3 of them I HATE .. Montblanc Individual - I hate the synthetic rasberry .. Montblanc Legend Spirit - It's WAY to powdery.. And Mochino Toy Boy - The rose note is just overpowering and 'ugh' - However I still love the bottle, and the cermacial !

Its kinda funny.. Im still pretty new to serious frag research and purchasing.. Ive got a ton of info to discover.. but its so funny.. Sooo much hype for some of these frags and I agree with some of your taks.. I haven't tried all of these (Sboy, Diaghelev, MB Expl,) I'm not a fan for some of these frags like Mefisto (or gentiluomo either) Dior sauvage and Jo Malone are fine but not worth their price imo.. I'm surprised you didn't like Diaghilev, but it is pretty strong. I haven't gotten any negative comments wearing it & the last time I wore it was to court for jury selection. I oversprayed because I was trying to get people to hate me so I wouldn't get picked as a juror & still no one said anything. I mean, it's got lot a thousand ingredients in it & I couldn't even get one person to have an allergy attack & ask me to leave? WTF?

I actually agree with some of her opinions, Explorer performed super weak on me, instantly returned it. I bought my brother Sauvage Elixir and while i do like it, i understand her point and i feel i could have bought him 2 bottles of something ‘better’. It is what it is.

I found Dior Sauvage Elixir for €93 at Douglas (Netherlands).
On it's own it's not my most 'complimented' by far, but when layering it (1 spray) it's doing much better.

I actually smelled explorer before I smelled invictus and really enjoyed it, it's really smooth and for me the performance was really good so I disagree with that one but agree with elixir, I definitely don't get the hype with that one.

I do 6-8 sprays of sauvage elixir bc I hate the og edt version and that my skin just eats it up well. Doesn't get too strong on my skin and wheather I sweat or it gets hot it disappears after 4hrs. 2 sprays on each side of neck, 1-2 sprays on each antecubital.
Yes, that's exactly my thoughts about Diaghilev when I sprayed it on my wrist (once thought about buying it) - it's something for stereotypical old men from the 1930s. And also it's very strong and persistent - I felt it even after few days.
I purchased Sauvage Elixir day 1 and had it before the big reviews got to it, solely so that I could know the truth about the fragrance (the way it smelled, performance, likability, etc) and see how reviewers/the community reacted to it. When I first got it in, I thought it smelled like a Christmas tree/candle mixed with polo green (that isn’t what it smells like I am just saying that was my first impression) and was super confused. Well, I wore it out that day and for the following week, and I received so many unsolicited compliments just while out shopping with my family that it was actually comical. We went to one of those haunted houses and two separate actors broke character to tell me I smelled great. Fast forward 2ish years and some partying, I consider it my signature, and it’s more complimented than all my other fragrances combined (and all I have are “compliment monsters” like LNDL, LNDL bleu electrique, the other Sauvages, Eros, ADG Profumo, Dylan Blue, DHI, DHI Parfum, Intense Cedrat Boise, etc). I feel like society pushed me to love it to be honest, because I love the feedback and I don’t get that kind of positive attention from my others, with the main exception (ironically) being Sauvage Parfum. But isn’t that crazy how peoples noses work differently? It’s funny because most people who smell it off their own skin or off the paper just don’t super care for it and find it challenging, but if they smell it off of me out and about, it’s a whole different story. So in that sense, I hope it kind of remains that way and is just successful enough that they don’t ever discontinue it or God forbid MFK reformulates it into one of his silly little concoctions (I don’t have high hopes for him as the new in house perfumer).
What Mont Blanc explorer bottle is that. I have had all 3 sizes and testers and that’s not it. Also no one buys these fragrances at retail especially in the Frag community. Explorer u can get for $30, sauvage elixir u can get for $90-$100, and sboy like 10x a year is $130-$150
This is why i just wear my own 24/7 natural skin scent its called Sweet Sweat and my wife loves it😂
So with sboy. I have 2 bottles of it.
I am traveling and literally JUST filled a travel sprayer with it.
And I do not know what happened but it RUINED the scent.
The scent that comes from the original bottle. Vs when I sprayed it using that mini funnel into my travel sized sprayer. RUINED the fragrance. It smells terrible.
The original bottle uses a very large tube before the atomizer. And the adapter that pours it into the travel bottle does not fit.
So I had to spray it into the mini funnel to fill in the travel sprayer.
I cannot emphasize this enough. It absolutely ruins the fragrance and smells NOTHING like the original.
Please please give sboy a chance by smelling it out of the original bottle.
Transfering it literally ruined the fragrance.
Thankfully I didn't transfer much. But what I did is an absolute waste
I will send you my second bottle to smell and sample if I can get it back
I agree on Sauvage. It reminds me of being a kid and walking into my dads military barracks. Its not bad but everyone and their grandad has it
You shouldn’t have to try to be positive. That sounds sad, someday you’ll learn to be less shallow. Some learn far later in life or never learn at all unfortunately
