Is the greenhouse covered at the top? (Ceiling to avoid rain or hash sunlight) if not, why and if so why?

The top is covered using a polyvinyl sheet. To avoid rain, excess heat and pests and/or diseases.

Yes, our altitude is 1,574m above sea level. However, we have semi-arid kind of climate here
