    oh dear Irene, you started crying through the video... 💦 because you miss Italy so much... I can so, so understand you! I've seen a few videos of you, being surrounded by your family, and the glorious south Italian landscapes... 🌄🌻🌅 ... you are like a fish in the water there 🐟...
    I think its good to leave, what we love and are used to, even if its only to experience, how much we value, what is our home ground... 💖
    Here's my story: I left my home country of Germany more than 20 years ago, and I'm now living in Scotland... although I can miss my home country, relatives & friends there, I'm so happy up here in the north - I just have, what I call, a northern soul, and that is what counts to me: my soul needs to feel home, where I am, and in my case, its in this land of rainbows 🌈
    My feeling is, that you will eventually return to Italy, because I think that your soul is most happy and satisfied there, but maybe you are still in the phase to explore living abroad (...and as you currently study French, I guess that you might want to move there next!)... enjoy it!
    How exciting it must be to stand on the moon, and see the earth in a distance, but the longing and gratitude for our blue planet will also be at its absolute peak then and there! 🌜🌍
    We are explorers, adventurers, who have to leave home (like Frodo & Sam), and only then can value truly, what we left behind...
    ...looking forward to your summer videos in Italy... I know already, that you will look soooo happy!!! 😎

    Nothing wrong with having moved away and seen another part of the world, but, as you say, you also have to consider your quality of life. London's a big city, and probably very exciting, but do you want to grow old there? I moved from a rural state in the US to "the big city", and over-all, I enjoyed it, but I think I stayed too long. In my 20s, 30s, and 40s, it was great. Now that I'm in my early 60s, not so much. Now I want something quieter. But my family is gone. I never had any kids. It's just me. And my bffs son who calls me "grandma". I like that. :)

    I'm originally from Iran and have been living in the u.s for 36 years, I miss a lot of things about my culture and lifestyle, so different than the American culture, just like Italians, we prioritize family and friends, relaxation over work, to little things like how we take 50 items with us for a picnic, no wonder so many people have anxiety and depression in the u.s, lots of people live too far from their families and barely visit each other.sundays most stores are open and it doesn't really feel like a different day, it seems work and working to pay bills is what we have to do here.In the city where I live, like most American cities, there are no squares where people and families can walk together in the evenings (unlike Iran), city parks are empty by 9 or 10pm, restaurants close at 10pm, the city feels dead and life becomes boring.An exception is probably New York city, it's more vibrant and lively. I wish the city planners thought about places where families can gather in the evenings instead of being in front of TV or a game console.

    The Italian government needs to make it easier for people of Italian heritage to gain citizenship, so that we can come to Italy and enrich their culture and simultaneously enjoy all of the benefits of being an Italian citizen. Right now, the Italian government has their priorities backwards.

    • @thomasjpuleo8112
      @thomasjpuleo8112 3 месяца назад +1

      I understand your perspective but what you propose presents a number of challenges. If you are working age, you will have a hard time finding a job here unless you speak perfect Italian and have a needed skill, and even then it will be difficult. If you are retired, you are ultimately going to place a burden on the healthcare and other social systems, which are already strained. If you want to come as an entrepreneur and start a business with your own capital, you will have to navigate a complex bureaucracy, again with your perfect Italian and cultural savvy. Also, no matter who you are, Italy is still a socially and culturally conservative country and you would have to conform to it to have any success. If you did not grow up here, that is going to be harder than you think. And as for the idea that immigrants enrich a country culturally, that is an American model of immigration and cultural assimilation that might not fit Italy very well. Again, I get what you are saying, but achieving the Italy you imagine would be pretty hard, and not all that desirable or conceivable to a lot Italians and Italian institutions.

      Middle Eastern not so much. African and Eastern European migrants provide very low skill labor: caretakers for the elderly, agricultural work, factory work . . . and even they complain about the low pay and hard conditions.

I've never been there, but I've heard the weather is miserable, and the food, at least on youtube, doesn't look very good at all. If you want the lifestyle of Italy, and the opportunity available in the UK, perhaps there's somewhere that offers both? Leaving home is hard, but maybe it doesn't have to be SO HARD haha.
