I'm not sure if you've covered it at all but there is a lovely lightweight game called Skogen my partner and I got a hold of a little while ago, which I would say is in your wheelhouse. The game is in Swedish but they provide English rules on the website, although we enjoyed learning the Swedish words for the various plant and animal life as we played. A very simple but enjoyable game.
