From a peak of 400 + mgs of oxy/day and now I’m down to aprox 24 mgs of hydromorph/day and my step off day is two weeks away! For over five months I’ve been “tapering” - every step down has brought days of pain, loose bowels, nausea and anxiety. It’s been going on for months! I’m sooo invested now, I can’t quit quitting ! My dream of freedom from opiates is within reach.

I shot Heroin for 20 years. What made me stop was 2 overdoses in the same day, due to Fentanyl in the Heroin. My dealer that I had known for 15 years told me Fentanyl was in the mix and to be careful as he always did. So I did a tester shot that was very small, but it still caused an OD. I left the hospital and did an even smaller shot, maybe 10% of what I usually did, and still it put me out. So I switched to Medical Marijuana and Kratom to get through the withdrawals symptoms that was 15 months ago. For the 1st time in 20 years I don't crave heroin. It feel good now, but it is still weird to me.

You’re partially correct. Bc I believe it depends on what’s the particular addict’s drug of choice. Some drugs are ver expensive, but in case of heroin, I think an addict will always be able to come up with enough money one way or another to get his/her fix. She said some other things in there that are dumb, stupid and have nothing to do with the reality and actual life of an addict, from what I’ve seen so many times for so long all around me in actual real life and on the streets, being a guy living in and around people from many different walks of life.

She’s lucky she had the will power to stop 🛑. I sincerely doubt that she wasn’t addicted. Just wise enough to kick it when her money ran out. Power to her. She made a good decision. Shame she’s still using every other drug 🤦‍♂️

The problem must be cultural in nature. We are not physically different from the rest of the world so it has to be the environment we live in. The extreme pressure to be successful in the way media has taught us that we need to be successful. In the process many fall by the wayside. I wish we could define success in a more healthy and sustainable way that doesn't leave so many people feeling like failures. Kind of explains all the mass shootings.
