How to Embroider with Drizzle Stitch | Tutorial

  • Learn all the essential tips, tricks and techniques needed to get started with drizzle stitch with embroidery designer and author Lorna Bateman. Lorna shows you how to use drizzle stitch to add 3-Dimensional elements to your embroidery work. This cast-on stitch is ideal for creating flowers like the lavender used in this sample, vines, leaves and more.
    You will need a milliners/straw needle, embroidery hoop and stranded cotton.

    I’ve come back repeatedly to watch this video. I do great then my fingers forget the movement and I need to watch again, and again. 😖

      @@DRoche911 hi Dlynn. It is one of the more difficult stitches so do not feel overwhelmed. Just keep practising once you have the knack of the stitch, so that it stays in your head 👍💕

      Its a lovely stitch and very diverse as you can use it for a number of varied effects. It is a Brazilian embroidery stitch. They are all lovely 3-D stitches in this type of work and great for surface embroidery. Enjoy experimenting. 👍❤

    Oh my goodness, i sew and knit so this looks easy to do! I love lavender and have many plants in the garden to harvest. I make lavender bags too so this is perfect. Thank you for sharing

    Thanks so much for adding these Lorna. I have some of your lovely kits and your book. I’m a visual learner to watching a demo helps makes sense of what I read and is super useful

      Pleasure Terry - I definitely want to add more as so many people are visual learners as opposed to working it out from a book. Slowly getting there as I now have help in once a week fro the orders which have been overwhelming!

    Just found you! My no spend March won’t last. I love the drizzle stitch although I’m so bad at threading needles with wretched eyesight. I’m definitely going to buy your book, some threads and a kit. Roll on pensionday! 😊💐

      Yup it's a pain but so rewarding. Use a bigger needle size if you battle to see or to thread it!👍💖
