This made me cry so hard. Of all the things that have happened at blizzard, the team that makes these animations are still absolutely phenomenal.
I agree!! I cant stop watching it!! x
True. But MOST of the OW team was not involved in a lot of that :(
ive watched this a thousand times already and counting.......... cant stop crying.

It’s the best cinematic they have ever done (in my opinion) and I cry every time! It’s just so beautifully done! X
@@SnowyZoex I agree.. the best.
ayy nice pfp
They need to turn overwatch into a movie 🔥
6:37 let the kitsune guide you.
Man this one just grabs your heart strings like a puppet and pulls. So good and she's amazing in game as well.
Pissed Kiriko gives off chills
You know that voice they do in animes when a character, specifically a good person, powers up and gets pissed, and they're voice has a deep dark demonic voice along with their normal voice at the same time? I SWEAR i heard that the first time I saw this cinematic but I just imagined it. I got goosebumps during the pissed kiriko scene.
It’s the best! Kirito is going to be my new Main ❤
I love the bait and switch. You see Kiriko walking in in that costume, and you think 'Oh, she just got back from some cosplay festival she's talking about'. And then like five minutes later you're going '... no, she's an actual magical shrine guardian.'
Another fun bait and switch they do, is when she first goes out into the hallway, right before the "Face Kicking Time" clip comes up, she's got her head down, because she's still trying to hide who she is. So she kills the lights, stands in a pool of shadow, and looks down so that the fox eyes on her hat, are what are actually looking at the badguys. Using deception to hide her identity, pretending to be the fox spirit, to try and intimidate the thugs. But then at the end, when they finally, genuinely piss her AND the fox spirit off, and you see the fox spirit come to the foreground of her persona (with the increased glowing of her eyes, and the outward manifestation of the spirit power in the hallway, making the torrii gate/path, she's not hiding anymore. It's BOTH of them looking out through her eyes. She's got her back straight, head up, eyes forward, openly declaring who she is. But again, it's still the enemy looking at the fox's eyes, just this time it's REALLY the eyes of the fox spirit, not just Kiriko tricking them. And then, like any good canine, the fox spirit claims her territory, openly declaring that Kanezeka is under HER protection. This is MY area, and if you mess with it, you mess with ME.
And it's why, at the end, the old man and his granddaughter are initially scared of her. Because that entire time, they still haven't seen her face. The hallway was on emergency lighting, also filled with gas from the extinguisher, further masking visibility, and they were huddling down, hiding their faces to try and avoid the bullets. When Kiriko heals the old man, the little girl doesn't have time to see her face, and is entirely focused on fear for her grandfather. Then when she empowers them with the fox spirit's blessing, they aren't looking at her, and are instead driven forward. When they finally do look at her directly, she's at the end of the hallway, still veiled in shadow, until she teleports right up to them. So naturally they flinch. And again, to try and further protect her identity (and also likely out of fear of the little girl becoming permanently scared of her), she hides her face behind the cute plushy, and waggles it at her, to try and further defuse any fear from the girl. Then she nervously looks around the side of it, scared of how they will react. Then the girl lunges at her in delight, and she relaxes. Only to again become the scared girl when she ports back into her apartment, to confront her mom. Like she did something wrong, and got busted.
It's a great way to convey the difference in her personality when the fox spirit is slumbering within her, and when it's more forwardly present.
Kiriko would 100% listen to babymetal.
34 yo now, I didn't realize I could be in tears watching this shorts.. this is by far one of the best shorts in overwatch for me..
A three year old can throw an axe harder than my 6'4 self. And I've split firewood my entire life.
Guess you just need some fox spirit in your life then :P
whole point of her ult, the arches, is it increase move speed and attack speed so yeah the axe would go flying.
One thing I have never seen a reactor notice. When the leader knocked his mask off, you can see a mark right between his eyes where Kiriko's kunai penetrated. She went for a kill shot and that mask's the only reason he's still breathing.
moral of the story
you mess with grandad, you get the little fox
Ive watched this and reactions to it so many times now absolutely amazing and thanks to think ive been practicing as kiriko so much, i wish i knew the music when kiriko was mad using her ult
No need to worry anymore mom.
I am a dude who never cry and even i was crying lol , this cinamatic blowed my mind!
Amazing reaction! ❤ This is one of the best cinematics that Blizzard ever made. And ur reaction was HUGE, you felt all the emotions. Thanks a lot for making us cry haha
few fun things ive read in comments on other vids. kriko's mom is the person who trained hanzo and genji. aswell as the hashimoto are the goons from the "dragons" cinematic.
also the fight scene music is called mfs-bow
the best reaction , nuevo suscriptor 🇵🇪
After that short, I'm gonna make Kiriko my main
Shes insanely good once you master headshots on her right click.
The short's are always amazing. My favourite is probably still Mei's one. But this was awesome, hit strong in the feels and had tears in my eyes. It's one of the best things about when they add new heroes, we might get new shorts. :D
The reason her mother says "Maybe I judged your doughnuts too harshly." is because a main indicator for humans possessed by a kitsune (fox spirit) is that they crave sweets. That is all. Carry on.
I saw this for the first time today, and I'm not at all ashamed to admit that I cried. 33, going on 34, and I cried for Kiriko and that little family she protected. I rarely ever cry, so congrats Blizz, ya might be one of the scummiest companies around, but you still have that magic touch when it comes to these beautiful shorts. Also, your reaction was a thing of beauty, keep it up. :D
A magic touch indeed! Thank you for your kind words! X
@@SnowyZoex You're welcome! :D And as I said before, keep up the amazing work Snow.
SO DAMN GOOD
I'm sorry the what just went live? The "Kairo"?

this was rly cool but the last part after the fight could and shouldve been left out its just unnecessary
I think the point was missed, friend. Every cinematic short-and every story, for that matter-has a conflict and resolution.
For this one, the conflict isn't the fight with the Hashimoto. It was Kiriko's mother not believing her daughter is capable, or that a literal Fox spirit protects Kiriko.
The fight with the Hashimoto was the answer to the question "Are you?" when Kiriko claims she's stronger than her mother thinks she is.
The resolution at the end was that the question posed by Kiriko's mother is answered, and she saw her daughter in a different light.
It's a mother-daughter relationship story. So, yes-the "bits after the fight" weren't unnecessary, but core to the short
It’s the best! Kiriko is going to be my new Main ❤
