THANKS SO MUCH FOR WATCHING! Хобби
Thanks for watching! Comment below what you'd like to learn next!
OMG, now I need to re-edit dozens of photos. This might be your best tutorial!
Thank you Pye, for always giving the best information for free.
Learned a ton, thank you very very much
Really good tutorial! It would be interesting to see what editing techniques go into David Yarrow’s amazing black and white photography.
Really useful. Thank you so much.
Extremely helpful! Love to see more content like this. I never use the curve, seems too difficult to learn, but you made it easy to understand and how it can be applied.
Really good tutorial. Thank you very much. I’m gonna try to use the whites and highlights to brighten out my subject.
Very useful! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. Excellent video! 💪
Excellent video- thanks for the help
Excellent, Pye thank you so much for this tutorial. Your pace is perfect very comfortable to follow along with.
Love this editting techniques. I also bring clarity down, for soft highlight and better roll-off
Wow! Thank you so much.
Love this video, very helpful, clear instructions. Thanks!
Very helpful! I learned a bunch!!!
Fantastic. I've been doing some of this already, but your workflow here really elevates what I've been doing. Can't wait to apply this approach to some of my own images.
Excellent tutorial! I was adjusting exposure to the subject mask and with this, I learned how to do it better!! Thanks so much Pye!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I usually make initial adjustments in LR, then go into Photoshop and spend more time than I probably need to. From now on, I'll use the techniques you demonstrated for us. You made it look simple. You're a great teacher!
explained sooooo well
Pye, you are a great teacher, your instruction videos are always insightful especially for a newbie like me.
Masterful indeed. Bravo!
Thank you so much. Super helpful
Now I have to revisit a photo from a few months back in particular and try this technique. I was so upset when I saw it was overexposed. I’m just hoping I didn’t overexpose too much (one of those accidents of which I probably make too many despite how long I’ve been doing this and watching these tutorials)
Great video Pye.Thank you for sharing your amazing works and techniques.
Another fantastic tutorial with easy to follow techniques. Thank you!
Thank you, I found it so helpful to have the three stand alone/cumulative approaches separated out the way you did, described with clarity and compared with the virtual copies. I can see (more) clearly now....:-)
Love it! Such a great tutorial!
Thank you this helps
Just love watching your vid
Always such great info
Like the last method!
Love this! So what do you do if the part that is too bright is actually on the person's face, over exposed but not blown?
Great video as always Pye. So helpful!
Great video! I think the most valuable insight here is learning what individual tools can do if used properly and how to adapt them to other images and individual preferences. Thank you!
So much helpful
good techniques. Thanks.
Love the final result on the subject Pye but purely from a personal perspective I feel that the blown out highlight area in the final image looks a little dirty now.
Awesome ❤️ 🙌🏼
Pye always rock on
always learning something with you, man!
Download your "blown out" image ... why? I have thousands of my own!! Extremely helpful video, thank you :-)
Amazing
Nice relaxing yet very informative tutorial, thanks for sharing your expertise.
great tutorial
You are awesome sir
Your photography style and editing style very easy to understand
Thank you for the information
Your video here is one of the best I've seen. Great job.
Great video. Thanks Pye. Idea for your next video - show us how to do the opposite and recover a dark photo.
I find the subject selection tool often makes the edges of the subject too "crisp". It then looks like a bad cut and paste. I wish the next LR update adds some edge control. (I've used a brush subtract to soften the edge of the selection. Sort of helps).
Great video. Thanks. Have you one on dealing with crushed blacks ( just found out that is the correct term) as I like to shoot with black backgrounds which always show up blue, or is it correct that blacks will be crushed to keep the depth ?

A D O R A M A ! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Can you do this in Ipad LR?
Could u also add a light blue sky
Pye what mic is that?
Does Amorama sell smaller microphones?
A better technique is to shoot a clean plate background, This means the model is not in the first image. Set your exposed for the highlights. It is very important that both images are done on a stationary tripod. Then have the model get into position for the second image and adjust the exposure for her skin tones.
Now take these two images into Photoshop. An HDR image in Photoshop will produce an absolute superior capture compared to a single raw image. Shooting two 14-bit depth raw files will yield you a 28-bit final image that is superior in color palette and dynamic range it's a no-brainer. The trick is to remember when you enter Photoshop it defaults to 8-bit you have to change it to 32-bit mode and then blend your bracketed images with auto HDR by selecting the option Tone in Adobe camera raw. Then when you export you can export it as a TIF a JPEG or whatever you need. Avoid editing in Lightroom because Lightroom is only 16 bit. That's only two bits more than a single raw photo has.
