Natural nutrients are best for the plants. Cow manure is excellent. Also prayer over your crops, the Lord gives the increase.

Salla sugarcane fertilizer is the best, if you can get it . The animal fertilizer burns the crops when the sun is very hot which is so great

Try throwing soil in the top of the maize stock. That would discourage insects from laying and hatching in the leaves. if they do , the larvae will feed on the on the corn.

Kim how is your poultry project doing?
Do you still raise chickens or you abandoned the venture?
I think chicken manure can also help to increase on yields on the farm.

Love the garden. Just a suggestion it will be good to plant some other short term crops that you will normally use like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, herbs etc

Why don’t you split the land so that you grow vegetables to balance the meals for the children

Glad to see this comment because I had just commented something similar. I think planting other types of vegetables that they can use in other meals all year round that way they can ensure their diets are more balanced
