I hope the winning program of the 124 Abarth Rally in the last two seasons will not be closed at the end of the production of the 124 Abarth. It would be a real pity.
I want the rally exhaust sound on my street abarth.. how can I do this… anyone? And how did they get the wheels to change from a 4 bolt pattern to 5? Is there a conversion kit?
Sorry, I'm unable to help you. Have you tried asking your Abarth dealer if there is a sports exhaust system? I also think that on Facebook, there are groups dedicated to this car to ask for advice.
The rallye Abarth uses a totally different engine (1.8 litres compared to the street version which has 1.4 litres). The engine is from the Alfa Romeo 4C in the R-GT. Rallye cars are almost strait piped. I believe they have a sport catalytic converter (100 cell, made from metall). No mufflers tho. They also have an anti lag system, which keeps the revs from the engine high even if you are not in gear and even if you are not on the throttle. They do this to prevent turbo lag. So they can have a large turbo and still a responsive reaction from it. All of these mods are likely to be not legal for the street in your country. Except maybe a motorsport permit, so you can drive your race car to the track or to race events (but nothing more!). Anti lag systems, which you can buy/program into your car, will destroy your OEM catalytic converter and will likely have an impact on your engine. The Abarth 124 comes with the "Record Monza" exhaust system, which has a very cool sound for a 4 cylinder car, and it is street legal. You can also open the flaps permanently (not legal).
A shame. It would have been a nice complementary competition vehicle to the Mazda MX5 used in circuit racing , sprints and hillclimbs to see Fiat use the car in rallying. Each to their own heritage :) Ah well, A110R it is then …
I entirely agree. The production car, sold to the public, has finished the production. We hope the rally's 124 R-GT sports program can continue for a long time to come, it's currently a winning car, and it would be crazy to let it all fall.
Hard to call these FIAT Spiders. Other than the boobs on the hood it is mainly a Miata (cool cars). The 79 Spider I have is a real FIAT. Doesn't run but it's real! I think a Ford 289 V8 might fit....
Even if its hardly a Fiat, they are very good and fun sports cars which are nicer to look at than a Mazda. The Miata ND is a very capable platform. Very lightweight and stiff. The Abarths are also different enough from the Miata to be sold as a different model. Its not just the looks and the engine. Its also the steering for example. Lots of small differences. I like my Abarth. I know a lot of you guys who own the old one are looking down on us. But I think this is bullshit. The new car is very rare and it needs enthusiasts to keep them up. They are also new cars for anyone who hates new cars. They are puristic. Just a steering wheel, pedals and a shifter. The ESP can be deactivated with a single press of a button next to your steering wheel (it hardly even does something when its activated anyway, even if you are on a race track). The ABS is also very sporty (it will react, but only very late when your tires are already locking up). The Abarths all come with a mechanical locking slip differential from the factory and an adjustable suspension (camber, toe).
It always does suck to see manufacturers leave certain championships or forms of motorsports all together. This car will be missed by some

I like it as a rally car. 👍
Yeah, it's cool and fast too 👍
