Not that it changes the verdict but teens, in fact, often are mentally unable to process or consider consequences. Which is why it is illegal for them to get tattoos, carry a weapon, etc.

This guy snuffed out the life of someone's mother. Someone's daughter. Someone's spouse and even grandmother because she did her job. She paid the price for his short comings as well as his inability to control his emotions. If this is how he reacts to a bad grade, imagine if a little kid made him drop his phone, or someone cuts in front of him in traffic. This is why emotional control is important and you don't just go into a flying rage everytime you're upset.

When absentee or undisciplined parents are too comfortable or best friends to their children this is one harsh example of how those children end up learning life lessons the hard way. They say it takes a village to raise a child, well we have the judicial system to raise them now since discipline at home and villages no longer exists. Due to greed, self centeredness and pressures to survive in a lopsided economy now make it every man woman and child for themselves.

Probably not the friend aspect. People often said that about me, but I didn't see it that way at all. My kids didn't get away with a thing. But I remembered Maria Montessori said she spoke to four year olds like adults, like people. There must be respect both ways.
