The deep strike nerf is actually a pretty big hit to the damage of Sunforge Battlesuits because now they are neither in Melta range nor do they get the extra AP from Retaliation Cadre when they come down. You either have to Rapid Ingress them and hope you find a good spot where nothing instantly shoots you off the board, which makes an already quite costly strategy even more costly CP wise, or you loose a lot of potential damage.
@@TheShepherd2305 They should at least have made the Deep Strike strat 1 CP instead of 2. With only 6" range, there's no real reason to use it over Rapid Ingress. And reducing the cost with Farsight doesn't help much either, cause without the extra AP and the melta damage, you kinda want the 4 additional Fusion Blasters of a generic Commander if you're even trying a Fusion bomb.
Orks waagh on their own turn is definitely a buff. If you get first turn, it is functionally the same, if you go second the opposing olayer doesn't know if they will be facing a waaagh or not whereas it was telegraphed before. You still get the defensive buffs on your own turn and in the opponent's after yours.
exactly. i am amazed that they dont see the value of this buff (yet). before a good player could just measure your threat range, stay back and make your go turn obsolete. now they never know whats going to hit them. very pumped for my green boyz!
The miracle dice definitely needed a nerf, but now we're basically back to 9th edition rules, minus being able to use low dice to pass morale. This basically means that if you're a bit unlucky with the 1-2 miracle dice you roll per round, you could go through an entire game without being able to use your army rule, because 50% of the time, the result will be almost useless.
Yes but the army had so many more layers of abilities and army wide rules it could us also miracele dice could be used to so much more and for more impactful interaction. While 10th is overal weaker in what they can be used for, you get them from loosing units in your army not killing your opponets and is the only army wide rules. They also buffed the amount of dice you could get trhough nine since sister was struggling with winrate mid 9th Sister did not do that mazing well before this nerf so it feels more clear that the problem is that most people donät like the rules, it has nothing to do with balance. So they should just remove the rule for next edion complelty instead. For now sister will probably just play like they did during the index with less miracle dice and less units wihout the mechanics that made their index army strong. They have better units now but to a high price and with all infantery being something that will die as soon intercessors look at them, it will be rough.
Sisters are now in a worse place than there index. I'd be happy to go back to index rules and points. At least we had weight of units to get stuff done

I'm a bit tired of T'au catching nerfs as collateral damage when exactly zero of our units have access to the broken combos being targeted by GW. First Kroot (and my beloved Endless Swarm Tyranids) get butchered for the sins of Orks and Guard, now Retaliation Cadre's main heavy punch gets neutered because of a Guard unit with such obviously broken "buy this!" rules that I'm surprised they didn't get banned like 9th Ed Votann.
GSC change is good I think. Before it was quite swingy and based on luck but now you are assured a return and you get to pick what retuns. Returning 300pts.worth of an army for free !!?? That's pretty dope
As a Space Marine player I realy love most of the changes. The only thing that bugs me is why did they increase the points of Biologis, Eradicators and Fire Discipline if they were going to change the whole enhancement? The price made sense with 5+crits, but now it doesn't.
As a GSC player... i love this. It might be on the weaker side now, but last week we had a 70% wr, so that is probably for the better. Now Cult Ambush can actually be balanced instead of being 100% RNG. I love having extra resources and we can already bring back 400 points in the best case scenario now. In my regular games, I will probably be bringing back around 380 or less, depending on the detatchment, but now i get to decide what and when i want my units for secondaries, primaries, and whatever else.
I am not sure this is my favorite version, I would have perhaps prefered an assured return with markers and only markers. (And of course a healthy points boost) I just like the idea of the enemy having to engage with screening things a bit more. I am new though, so I don't have much experience. This is an improvement to me though.
Played last night Vs a Dark Angels player who didn't buy the codex. As a result, he doesn't use the app. In order for him to use the "free" app for his army only 11 months after it was released, he'd have to buy an obsolete €35 paper document for the code. And, because he plays Space Marines, an additional obsolete €35 paper document for the generic SM code. It's getting harder for GW to justify both publishing on paper and the cost of codecii that constantly change every 2-3 months. Bad form.
New Recruit is awesome! They recently underwent major updates to make it MUCH more mobile friendly, and it's really all you need to play most games if you can find a scan of your detachment rules/strats page online.
buying a codex in Australia currently is $98 when 11th comes around will most likely be over $100 that's a lot for a book that becomes obsolete real quick.
I buy codices but not just for the rules. I love the art, the lore, painted models, the whole deal. Sadly they put less and less effort into it lately.

But when I heard it changed to that, at this point I'm just too burnt out to be interested in them anymore.
Other way to look at GSC in a positive way... You pay for a unit of 10 aberrants, And then you get them twice guaranteed. If you look at it that way in a vacuum it's actually quite strong. Your opponent is either going to completely ignore them because they know you'll bring them back or they're going to put everything they have into them and have to do it twice. I don't know this is something you can work with at least
What do you guys think the changes to deep strike will do to the T'au Retribution Cadre? (Not dropping within 6" meaning no free AP on flamers and burst cannons, and not within Melta range..) The T'au sphere is all doom and gloom, but I am a Kauyon scrub who was only starting to think of getting into RetCad lists and I am not sure if we're really that dead in the water?
RetCad already struggled on objectives and secondaries because it was an elite detachment, now it got its main damage threat absolutely neutered. I don't see it making many tourney showings anymore, which means we're essentially down to two viable detachments barring a Grotmas miracle. I run Kauyon myself, and have found some success with it, but it's frustrating that our detachments keep getting their guts ripped out for the sins of other armies.

Yeah, the point increases are going to hurt, especially for us Mech Guard players. Just when you get the “perfect” 2000 point list, GW goes and forces you to toss it in the rubbish bin and start over. But we are very used to this…
Tau retaliation cadre just had their rules made 50% obsolete. They can't deep strike within 3" at the cost of 2cp to get their benefits now, which means +1S on battlesuit weapons from Star Scythe are now not going to happen, no one is going to run S4 flamers anymore even if they are Ap-2, and Sunforge can't use the melta rule for deep striking within 6". This is a proper nerf for the Tau main detachment. the whole stratagem won't hardly be used anymore.
Games Workshop needs to get on a standardized schedule for these changes. These changes are happening too quickly for new players, like myself, to research a decent army we like, buy all the figures we want, paint them, and play them before all of our work is rendered meaningless due to the various types of changes.
I wouldn't start an army for the main reason of chasing the meta. I would start an army that you like because of the models, lore and general playstyle.
That's absolutely approaching the hobby from the wrong direction. Build something you're proud of and speaks to your unique playstyle. NEVER chase metas unless you have thousands of dollars to burn.
Just get an army you like the playstyle, lore, or models for any just vibe with them. Nothing beats winning when your army is in the dump, but if you don't want to play a bad army just paint through your pile of shame until the balance light shines on you.
The sister's definitely needed a nerf but what they did is definitely too much, genuinely i think just the 1st miracle dice change was enough (-5/game). But both is absolutely brutal. And add in the fact that there were 0 point decrease to accommodate (like why is triumph still 250 points??) I'm concerned about sister's being able to do much of anything for a little bit. But i guess we will wait and see
Yes, this definitely a “nerf too far”. We have known for a while now that GW was gong to mess with MD, but yikes…this was way too much of an over correction. SoB armies have always been fragile and the MD rules were meant to help mitigate this. The reduction of MD to only getting one per phase regardless of how many units were lost is insane given how easily SoB units can get wiped out especially since most are only T3. On the flip side, the massive drop off in the number of people who will be playing SoB armies after this change will mean that GW will invariably course correct in a future balance update. As always, what GW giveth, GW taketh away…only to eventually giveth back if it means a major hit to sales.
Grey knights had a wild ride. New detachment comes out, its 'acceptable' doesnt have 3 in deepstrike and True silver, so the detachment was sorta dead on arrival, then core data slate changes make those abilities meh, thus making the new detachment good. hillarious.
You completely missed (edit - or more accurately under represented) a rather significant change to the Gladius Taskforce…Fire Discipline got changed from crits on 5+ to reroll advance roll! And they kept it at 40 points! 😮
You missed out on that Astra Militarum’s Leontus now can’t order Bullgryn, Ogryn, Ratlings etc. The super heavies are of course affected but the hit on orders for Bullgryn and Ogryn is more important.
You also missed that Triumph of Saint Katherine no longer grants a free miracle dice. It's now a 250 point never include. I really think you guys undersold the devastating nature of the Adepta Sororitas nerfs. We are heading for a sub 40% winrate. We were already sitting at 50% after october's points update. This was pure overkill.
Good changes to Assimilation Swarm, this is the detachement im going to play for the next months, so the timing is wonderful. I would have personally changed it to, Harvester units heal flat 3 and endless multitude units heal D3+3, but not having to be on an objective is massive. Idk if the Norn Assimilator with the healing keyword is now worth it. but it makes sense that he got it.
You got the tyranids changes wrong. The biggest thing is the one sentence that was eliminated, which said that you need a harvester IN AN OBJECTIVE YOU CONTROL in order to regenerate in assimilation. Now, they are released of that and they no longer need to stay in the objectives to be able to heal. We'll probably see a bit more assimilation
Just a quick question completely unrelated but what model did you use as a base for your Darnarth Lysander model shown at 36:48? I'm keen to convert my own but unsure where to start.
I like the changes to GSC. The rolling randomly to bring back units either did nothing, or everything came back and it is very unfun for my opponent. However, resurgence points really just means GSC have extra points which means their units will probably end up being more than they should be. Hopefully next codex they just move away from recurring units and find something else for them to do
As a GSC player I was initially super happy hearing that it's less random to have your units return as I have super bad luck with dice, after seeing I can only get 1 single unit back in an entire game... honestly not a great change, doesn't change much for me personally as I usually only get 1 back at most due to my back luck, but I do like the IDEA of being able to get more than just 1.
@ yeah anvil siege force might be a great way deal with to elite infantry armies, Votann, world eaters and maybe custodies or Ca’tam. The massed bolter fire at damage 2 could just defeat good saves and FNP through weight of fire.
Sternguard+combi weapons on an oath target are going to do some serious damage. How will reivers interact with the new sticky objectives? Also I feel that they will become the best form of anti light/medium infantry due to their strat versatility and new AP values
feeling positive about the waaaagh change, it means I'm more likely to get two phases of waaagh combat out of units. Removes the signposting for opponents that allowed them to focus fire down units and screen/position to deny waasgh charges. potentially a huge boost to the damage output. Trusting on the invul for defense with how I roll dice was always a fools game.
Annihalator needed the buff. Some of us only own 1. The dread talons did not need that weird debuff. A unit of raptor within 6 inches could cause battleshock at -2 now what's the point of even bringing raptors in screaming descent. Meltas aren't gonna make up for 3 pistols and another CP to reroll hit rolls
GSC. "A bit of a headache army" Can't say it more clearer. I missed a lot of game because of trying to get this army tabletop ready. That being said I also improved a lot on the painting side when it came to getting these ready. So give or take there is a plus to it outside of the constant change of rules. Also now I think of it, keeps the game a bit different each time. Just sad that my codex book just keeps on becoming worthless with each change 😅
Just when my friend got rid of his Imperial Fist army all this buffs to his used unite come out The Tyranid Detachment change is quite interesting but i’m too deep in Vanguard Onslaught ^^
I've been collecting Genestealer Cults since about 2018 and frankly playing them is becoming such a headache. The constant whiplash of changes to core mechanics is so discouraging. I don't even care if I win or lose, I just want to enjoy my army and understand how it plays. Might be time to shelve them until 11th.
Having played since 2nd, I would rather have 50 pages of errata to deal with than go back to years to decades of having stuff broken, or obsolete. Although I to think they should just have a pay for subscription every month and have the rules digital. They can still sell books for collectors (I would still by mine for my top three armies) but it is annoying that I can't review other armies rules on the app unless I buy a $50 book I don't need.
Im really unsure about this update. Some really good things got adressed but there is alot of stuff that needed to happen or got mis-updated in my oppinion. Like Dda's, Votans , Thousand Sons being less Magnus focused and by far my biggest concern... Knights. Why of all the things to change, would u let the big cool knights that got never taken be untouched and THEN BUFF THE ARMIGERS/WAR DOGS.
Someone who’s only ever played Orks on this game I’ve been begging for this waaagh change the entire edition, never once have I called a Waagh defensively, it is a go mode ability and my opponent having able to respond to it if I go second has been the least fun interaction of 10th
And squats….just in time for their re-introduction. Will be interesting to see if this is addressed in the new codex or if this was already patched out.
Don't like the Oath of Moment change, like all the other Space Marine rules changes, but then the new points are a bit whatever, Guilliman is 345, Calgar is 200 and Ventris went up, as well as Heavy Intercessors and Sternguard, and I get why but it feels counterproductive to buff Marines just to hit them with more points, I'm not sure how much this will do to help them but I'm looking forward to trying some stuff out
Doubling the damage on heavy intercessors and the shots on regular intercessors seems like a worthy increase on points. Infernus marines getting an ap is going to cook alot of stuff. Anytime ap is put on flamers, they get nasty.
Anihilators were amazing clear back in 3rd. They lost their punch as time moved on and abilities effecting infantry models and what not. As for insult to injury I'm no longer buying any more book material from GW. I'm over invalidated rules at the printer. I'll stick to models that aren't invalidated once I snip the sprue.
Ok i know its such a small thing , but i loved the little Ding sound to let me knpw some text was on screen because they missed some wording , such a nice little touch well done ❤

But i guess we will wait and see
they had a 51% win rate and only with a single detachment and specific strategy.
How does that constitute needing a nerf?
Thank you for time stamps and energy, it's a BOOOM from me
should the t'au stratagem go down to 1cp since there 3" deep strike was changed to the 6" like every other version of the ability?
This is by a mile the best gaming channel on the planet for 40k love it love it love it
The Eavy Weapon team of the new AM Battlesector, sounds just like Spider
Grey knights had a wild ride. New detachment comes out, its 'acceptable' doesnt have 3 in deepstrike and True silver, so the detachment was sorta dead on arrival, then core data slate changes make those abilities meh, thus making the new detachment good. hillarious.
You completely missed (edit - or more accurately under represented) a rather significant change to the Gladius Taskforce…Fire Discipline got changed from crits on 5+ to reroll advance roll! And they kept it at 40 points! 😮
Fun fact: In the lore the forge world that made the land raider turned traitor during HH so only space marines can use it.
As a GSC player who've had games where Noone comes back, I love this
You can also increase the pool with characters
Where do you see this?
@znorman23 the balance data slate? On gws website
Just a quick question completely unrelated but what model did you use as a base for your Darnarth Lysander model shown at 36:48?
I'm keen to convert my own but unsure where to start.
Damn tau not even in the description lol
I like the changes to GSC. The rolling randomly to bring back units either did nothing, or everything came back and it is very unfun for my opponent. However, resurgence points really just means GSC have extra points which means their units will probably end up being more than they should be. Hopefully next codex they just move away from recurring units and find something else for them to do
Absolute kneejerk reaction to sisters. hurt one or the other, but not the detachments and the miracle dice. rip
Titus has found a place leading my Sternguard.....
Bro idk they didn't use the resurgance points to give you a re-roll on your army rule. Like you're an ambush army, LET YOU AMBUSH.
You missed something the heavy intercessor heavy bolter also hits on threes again. So its a heavy bolt rifle with (sustained hits 1).
They mentioned it but didn't discuss. I'm laughing at stationary HINTs hitting on 2+ across the board.
@ yeah anvil siege force might be a great way deal with to elite infantry armies, Votann, world eaters and maybe custodies or Ca’tam. The massed bolter fire at damage 2 could just defeat good saves and FNP through weight of fire.
GW is just now getting into the “create problems we can then promise to fix in 11th” stage of an editions lifecycle.
Sternguard+combi weapons on an oath target are going to do some serious damage.
How will reivers interact with the new sticky objectives? Also I feel that they will become the best form of anti light/medium infantry due to their strat versatility and new AP values
As a Salamanders player... I am so happy right now. Firestorm is relevant again. Sisters finally nerfed, GSC nerfs... It truly is Christmas month.
feeling positive about the waaaagh change, it means I'm more likely to get two phases of waaagh combat out of units. Removes the signposting for opponents that allowed them to focus fire down units and screen/position to deny waasgh charges. potentially a huge boost to the damage output. Trusting on the invul for defense with how I roll dice was always a fools game.
Love this channel!
Blood angels outriders are gonna be godly
Lots of cool changes, but I'm sad that Hounds of Morkai didn't also get the -1 AP buff.
Ahhh Morty is even better now. Blessed
My imperial fist where allredy super nice to play. Now i feel op!
Great vid guys
MY STERNGUARD ARE BACK BABEEEEE!!!!!! YEAH
Dilemma. Fletcher would like to paint Lawrence's Emperor's Children. But Lawrence wants to paint Lawrence's Emperor's Children too. Hmmm.
Guess who are back? Imperial Guard. They really got taken out the back, jeez.
Guard will bounce back, we always do
@@Mercenary0712 but no orders for superheavies at all is sad(😢
@asrieldreemurr6693 I suspect it wasn't the super heavies' fault either. It was the ogryns.
Hardly
Thanks mates! Come on baby! That will do great for my next game this week-end, I will be happy to burn some Nyds with my pyroblasters!
WAAAAAAGH change is a pretty big buff to them.
What does MSU mean? When they talk about unite
Multiple small units
I notice not much to grey knights, hopefully that means a new codex or range refresh
50:59 Don't make those sort of promises about GK, Beard! Don't get my hopes up, I've been hurt before!
What does the deep strike 3 rule change mean to the sanguinor? He can deep strike strait into engagement range.
Just when my friend got rid of his Imperial Fist army all this buffs to his used unite come out
The Tyranid Detachment change is quite interesting but i’m too deep in Vanguard Onslaught ^^
Thanks guys, I was waiting for an excuse to drink at 7 am
I've been collecting Genestealer Cults since about 2018 and frankly playing them is becoming such a headache. The constant whiplash of changes to core mechanics is so discouraging. I don't even care if I win or lose, I just want to enjoy my army and understand how it plays. Might be time to shelve them until 11th.
There is no reason for codex release anymore but i do like having them
Having played since 2nd, I would rather have 50 pages of errata to deal with than go back to years to decades of having stuff broken, or obsolete. Although I to think they should just have a pay for subscription every month and have the rules digital. They can still sell books for collectors (I would still by mine for my top three armies) but it is annoying that I can't review other armies rules on the app unless I buy a $50 book I don't need.
Iron Warriors do ALWAYS need a Linebreaker squadron. Iron Within!
I'd like the ability to buy a codex unlock code through the app, but cheaper than a physical book
Would love to hear Chef's opinions on these changes!
Miss a good Chef rant
Do SM core chapter chaplains get +2 to wound in melee against Oath targets?
yes but it would only matter if the opponent had a -1 to be wounded effect since you cannot modify a hit or wound roll greater than +/-1
Im really unsure about this update.
Time to put GSC away till 11th where we will get a new army rule which isn't unbalanceable. I want blips and crossfire back. Got some Drukari to build
A think a genestealer enhancement that is a character who gjves you 1 point per turn would be interesting enough.
Someone who’s only ever played Orks on this game I’ve been begging for this waaagh change the entire edition, never once have I called a Waagh defensively, it is a go mode ability and my opponent having able to respond to it if I go second has been the least fun interaction of 10th
I'm torn about the Inspiring Commander bonus for Darnath, Imperial Fists. Just because he's an ollllld model.
Wooohooo! Marines are back BAY-BEE!!!
With the screamer they use to be known as a flying melterboom
You forget that not only do Baneblades can't get orders but Abhumans like ogryns and Bullgryns can't get orders at all
And squats….just in time for their re-introduction.
Sometimes I think GSC should be made in to exclusive to Necromunda faction only. As GW has better feel of what GSC is in Necromunda identity.
WAAAGH is back on the menu boyz!
Defensive waagh was not a thing, ork win rates going second where below 40%
Oh my god, nice things for Codex compliant non-Ultramarines chapters!? I think we stole the Sisters' miracles 😅
Good coverage
Reivers with -1 AP knives was not on my bingo card for 2024. I thought they would just stay a meme forever.
