The Canoe is my favorite Case pattern, I have six of them so far. This is the most special Canoe I've seen, what a wonderful combination of materials. Fantastic!
that is my favorite shape in a Slipjoint :). it is a nice price for something with those materials and a limited edition tanks for showing us that beautiful knife
This is just awesome, I can't get over how cool it is that the handle scales are actual ivory from a Woolly mammoth. It's a drag I can't afford something like this right now LOL
I like it but just to have it does not work for me. I just like the idea of having a really well crafted traditional folder in my pocket that I can use.
What a classy piece brother!.... I seen GP scored a couple last week and it just really stood out even compared to a clip point damascus case on the same page...... Plus there's just something about holding a dinosaur tusk in your hand! Thank you, for showing!
Very handsome knife, on a side note i agree that everyone should have one classy knife. I just bought the Spyderco UK penknife titanium; though it isn't as gentlemanly as the canoe i do like it for the classy look. It's kind of collectable too, as they are as rare and hens teeth in the UK. :)
I read the page that you put in the description, What is Damascus. It's a very good reading. It's written there: "It was said that a Damascus sword could cut a silk scarf that was dropped over its blade with only the weight of the scarf pushing it through.". I wanted to know if that is possible a long time ago. Thanks.
Yes, Case has really tightened up on their "core knives" too. I just bought a "Smooth Chestnut bone SS Trapper" that the quality is just as good as my early 70's Trapper. I'm debating on investing in either a Mammoth Ivory pattern from Case or GEC. I would have to stop buying a few lesser expensive knives to do so. Decisions decisions......
Congrats on such a beautiful & fine collectible. Case went through an awful lot of legalities to obtain the Mammoth Ivory. It was taken from permafrost. And actually, this particular type is called the "bark" ivory because it's from the outer edges that were exposed. That explains the "tree bark" like appearance. Totally smooth is known as "interior ivory".
I'm just glad someone has watched this and commented! This is one of my least watched reviews LOL, I guess people don't like the older fashioned designs as much :[
The price is listed in the information under the video. That way, if the price changes, I can keep it accurate, however this model is discontinued now.
its like bringing out the fine china for dinner. when someone hears you are into knives they want to see the best knife in your collection. they want to see something like this to impress them. they dont give a shit about s30v's cutting performance. they want to see something fancy. that case is a fine blade.
Not to turn your awesome vid in to an advertisement, but other project require me to put mine up for sale. Same exact knife as shown in the video - $300 to the first buyer. These are sold out everywhere and you'll only find them in circulation. Any serious collectors want a chance to own one, I'm your guy. Thanks.
Say Heah Israel I think all of the Canoe patterns are in carbon steel (CV) Large CV Canoe, and I have one, but not a damascus, just a plain jane, but in the same color box as yours. my Fav's is my Large Case Stockman CV, but I just got a Bokor Tree Brand Honey Bone 2blade Hunting Knife but I got it in the High Carbon Steel, I think it's 440C made in Solengin, Germany, I got the Bokor because my very first knife I ever bought myself was a Bokor Tree Brand, I was underage but the guy must of thought I was a nice guy and sold it to me at a hardwear store and boy was it sharp, I know Oouch. but also the Case Hunting Knife is a Saber or hollow grind, and I wanted a flat grind. and I will use it for food prep, and it's going to be mostly in the case except shooting the bull around the fire. Yeah a little whittling with it too. but then I just got four Case, (2) Large Trappers one S.S. and the other one in CV, the Case Large Canoe CV, abd the Yellow Stockman CV, I thought I would give my Camillus it look's like a Large Canoe but with three blades, it's a Silver Sword, in excellent shape, and some of my other single blade Western lockback all were U.S. made.
Oh I am sure that there are some channels and collectors who specialize in Case or Slipjoints in general, they have quite a history. But yeah, enjoy this one because mostly I collect daggers, swords, machetes, and folders of death LOL
I really didn't buy my Case for collecting reasons and I bought it from my neighborhood pawn shop for around $20.00 I wanted a large two bladed hunting knife and I saw this Case it's a X X Tested Big Trapper although I really wanted a hunting knife style this trapper is big and the blades look a little different than most trappers, I seen my knife on Worthpoint and I was surprised what I bought they said only 125 of these were made, I guess I got lucky Eah ?
I'm pleasantly surprised to see this on your channel. I love your vids, and a good traditional slipjoint along the way. I hope there's more where this came from!=3
Why is the name of this video “ The most expensive case knife” when there are knives made by case that are worth tens of thousands of dollars.. for example a Case Winterbottom Congress knife made between 1920 and 1940 is worth $17,500.. and that’s just one of many many others.. how much was this knife here a couple hundred bucks…???
It was only the most expensive Case production knife that was widely available at the time, I’m sure there were more expensive ones somewhere, and if you’re going to count the secondary market then of course those are very expensive. Hey, no one is detracting from your collection or preventing you from showing it off, by all means, please share and contribute, I would love to see a video of a $17,500 knife. I have to warn you though, the internet is a cruel and heartless place, and if you do post some pricey stuff, people can and will talk crap and tell you you wasted your money - I would advise you to approach things from a historic/informative angle, rather than a snobbish angle, and take great care to sound humble and friendly - I only say this to help you get started in a positive way, since RUclips says your channel is very new.
Waht a beauty. You are too young to have one of these and I am too old to afford it. Doesnlt that tell you this country is upside down. LOL Grreat buy. But come on a gift like this to the father-in-law. Nahh, I donlt think so. It is more appropriate as a gift to a beautiful strawberry blonde lady with superb physically endowed measuments. I guess I am officially a male shovanisitc pig. At 63, I earned that title. You still got a long way to go.
Say Heah, I always wanted a good Barlow, We'll last weekend I went to the Pawn Shop and even though I'm not much into folders, I bought a few all similar in size. I got a Buck 112 X which is a 1990 they made them that year in the 425 Mod. Then I got a Diefenthal in the box with original papers a Camillus Jim Catfish Hunter #4, and a Sharp tm made in Japan, all in excellent condition and even in mint. Oh yeah and a Schrade 2 blade Scrimshaw Barlow in the original box and papers. I'll trade you.
+Pinche Pendejo I agree pre 1979 case are the real deal and every knife since is not made of the same quality the blades are thinner and the shields are glued not pinned like pre 1980 case
+Mark Holm also the price is ridiculous I would rather go out and find older case knives in antique stores and pay in the same price range as what they charge for new new case is extremely over priced
Thank you for sharing. This-is a very rare item! The rest of us would never get to appreciate it without this video.
The Canoe is my favorite Case pattern, I have six of them so far. This is the most special Canoe I've seen, what a wonderful combination of materials. Fantastic!
WHAT THE HELL IS IT WORTH!!! I watched the whole thing waiting for the value!! aaagggghhh
I'm not huge on traditional knives but I've always liked the canoe design. Beautiful knife.
Thanks JWC!
Thanks, bro! It is my first ever Case knife, too.
Thanks, Col!
Thanks for the new upload! I always learn something new each time you feature a new knife, bro!
Thanks! Glad they did so much for me :]
that is my favorite shape in a Slipjoint :).
it is a nice price for something with those materials and a limited edition

I never knew these type of scales existed either, until I saw a video last year :]
On my Victorinox Mammoth executive, the scales have lifted off. Do you know how it can be glued back made flush again?
thanks :]

P.S. as long as you're buying stone age stuff like mammoth ivory, you should buy a flint knife. That would be a cool review.

Gorgeous

Beautiful knife, thanks for sharing
I watched the whole video expecting to get a price, but it never happened. Very misleading title.
The price is listed in the information under the video. That way, if the price changes, I can keep it accurate, however this model is discontinued now.

I did LOL. There was some kinda $24 discount and shipping is free, I was on that sh*t like Rosie Odonnel on a cheeseburger LOL
You so do no superstition dictates if you give a knife as a gift it cuts the friendship. Unless you are given a coin in return.
"THEY ARE NOT MAKING ANY MORE WOOLY MAMMOTHS".....
LOL... AMEN!
ok, so what's it worth???
beautiful. probably worth over $500 now
Nice to see. I sure can't afford much more than their Sodbuster.
How much is that knife

There is someplace that has an age limit on knives?
Oh I am sure that there are some channels and collectors who specialize in Case or Slipjoints in general, they have quite a history. But yeah, enjoy this one because mostly I collect daggers, swords, machetes, and folders of death LOL

Case makes there knife to much to pay for!!!!! Y?
Michael Fedeli It is because of the mammoth bark, and the damascus is real, not acid-etched.
