Great video! Its amazing how far IC fabrication has come. Maybe it would be a good idea to reach out to Ken Shirriff if you haven't already. He is very talented when it comes to reverse engineering chips.
I'm sure Ken would be able to trace it out in a few minutes (he's analyzed a few other chips that I've posted on Twitter) . I'm making good progress on a second chip and I think I'll be able to decipher what this chip is fro what I've learned. Once I have a guess I'll post on Twitter to confirm. 😁
If you loook at e-bay listings of Sylvania SG-42, you'll find similar gold packages with "SG-42" clearly printed on them. So I guess your chips are something else than SG series SUHL chips
Since I'm studying to be a librarian, I thought it'd be fun to at least check if there were any copies of newer Sylvania books anywhere, since you said you weren't able to find anything newer than the 1966 edition. Probably not too useful, but a quick WorldCat library search shows that the Leibniz Information Center for Science and Technology in Germany has a copy of a Sylvania Integrated Circuits data book in their library from 1967. Not entirely practical to get ahold of but...I guess it's out there for *someone* to get some use out of.
I am gonna binge your videos now, this is so cool
Very cool and informative video 👌🏻

You've got a good narrative. I find your video interesting and informative even though electrical circuits is not a topic I pursue.
Thanks! I'm enjoying learning more about them myself 😁
Hi, do you know if there was any concern that asbestos was on this board?

Great content. Found your channel from tiktok. What scope are you using in this video?
Knowing which incredibly talented people follow your Twitter... A post there would probably give you results in a few minutes..
I have no doubt you are 100% right that 😁
