That's really cool David!! Great content. Thanks for showing us how to pick up a bee! I'm sure you got a lot of Sting's before you perfected your method. Thanks for all you do for us!!
Wow. . . Ken has the largest Varroa Mites on the Planet :Just kidding! Talented to make such a nice "No Varroa Here" Sign. Look forward to the Lighting it Up Show. 😎 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Happy Beekeeping 2023 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Serious question (or maybe a really dumb question)... can you start a colony with JUST a queen? Cage her up in a nuc or something with some lure and some way to feed her...? Never heard anyone talk about this possibility.
Hi, David and Sheri. (I know she has to be involved). Hope all is going great for you both and your bees this year. I have a question on banking queens, if you have time to answer? From what I understand, longer banking means less ability for queens to lay eggs. Is there any truth to that?
Hi Jane, great question for my livestream. Be sure and join me on Thursday nights at 7pm for my lifestreams where you can ask a question or hear answers I give to other people's questions. Here's the link: www.honeybeesonline.com/live/
David, in Queen rearing, it’s seems daunting to a new bee keeper. How do you hold onto the queens when you hatch them? How big a box do you keep a new queen in? Are they separate colony’s ? It seems a lot of resources are necessary to bank them and how long can you bank a queen for? . Sorry for all the questions but I find it all very complicated.I have 3 Beehives and they are in swarm mode now so it is all a bit bewildering. Regards Joe from Ireland.
David how are you doing? This is Charlie from PA I have a question for you I bought three packages of bees install them over a week ago between the weather not cooperating I finally got a chance to do I have inspection to hives are doing excellent each have three frames of brewed plenty of nectar and queens the third one probably lost half the amount of bees that were in there, and no queen would it be wise to give to try to purchase a three frame nuke with the queen and to do the newspaper separation to try introducing them. What is your advice on this or should I wait to the other two colonies build up a little bit more just pick up a queen and take a frame from each, I don’t wanna hurt Peter to pay Paul what is your suggestion? Thank you Charlie PA.
$40 for a queen? Hopefully those prices are for a mated queen. Here in WV it's $20 for a virgin. And $35 for a mated queen. The only way I'd pay $40 would be if she was a mated hygienic queen.

Thank you, David! Great tip!!!!!🙏🌈☀️🌻🐝🍯🌍☮️❤
So funny 😂how u grab a Bee you make it look so easy 😊 I Enjoy watching your videos Keep them coming
Great idea David! Like cattle at a feeding trough. I'll try this!
LOL tried this a few times now, it takes practice I'm usually 50-75% on not getting stung!
"Grab it by its BACK WINGS." LOL.. as apposed to its front wings....
I meant the very back part of their wings. When you are making a video unscripted it's impossible to say everything perfectly.
Actually bees do have a front wing and a back wing. (Forewing and hindwing)
Just the information I needed. How long can you safely bank queens before her productivity declines? Love the videos. Thanks David.

Nope, a swarm has their own queen with her own pheromone.
Hi. I found a bee hive in my tree today. Do I have to call a keeper to move it, or will they be ok on their own?
Where did you get your Verroa mite stuffed bug?

Hi David, if I'm putting a queen in a plastic cage like you have here, how can I make my own candy plug?
Powdered sugar and water
How do you get good drone genetics?
That's a great question for me to answer on my livestream tonight, Thursday at 7pm central time. Here's the link: www.honeybeesonline.com/live
Where did you get that “battery box”? You got me curious.
Mann Lake sells them
Thank you Sir.
This might be a better question for the live show, but how long after installing a new package should I wait to do the powdered sugar dusting?

I would do the later by seeing if you can share resources.

Have you seen the prices of everything else, like gas, groceries, lumber, insurance....when prices go up, it does effect everything else too.
How do you have so much energy? Id say youve had too much honey.
At 63 I exercise a lot and I work with several organizations so I keep my mind active as well.
Great video
Like watching your videos I'm learning at lot.
