    I actually did the math on initial game states when the game was on kickstarter. "For significant changes in setup of Tiny Epic Zombies I decided to leave out placement of stores in the mall, and only consider which side is face up, as well as scenario combinations and player character choice. There are 9 scenarios and each game we choose 3 which means a total of 84 possible combinations. For a 1, 2, and 3 player with a zombie player there are 816 possible combinations (since they all use 3 characters). 4, and 5 characters give 3060, and 8568 possible combinations respectively. Finally choose of stores is an either or on 8 different stores which is 256 setups. For 3 character roles (the 1, 2, and 3 player with a zombie player) that gives 17,547,264 initial game states. (4 character roles gives 65,802,240, and 5 character roles gives 184,246,272)."

    Like the idea of the portable aspect of this game and that it can be played solo or co-op. Zombies are not my favorite theme but definitely will add to my library.

    I don’t have any friends,so a tabletop rpg you can play solo is AMAZING!

    It's a very good game, even on solo play, very enjoyable.
    The problem that I've got is that those splash prints on health tokens and prints on bullets token are coming off really easy. Also, cards, especially board cards, are quite slippery so if you're playing on normal dining table they will move around a lot, so I would suggest investing in play mat.

    A magician? Glad to know I'm not the only full time magician that's a huge gamer!

    Great review, too. I played the game tonight!

    Actually, in a nine scenario pool you have 84 different combinations possible. Still a lot, but not 504.

      Oh, man, as far as bang-for-your-buck goes, it's a fantastic game. Relatively quick and easy to learn, but there's a lot of strategy to be had once you know the rules. I absolutely recommend it!
      (And you should do a review, too!)

      I have all of the Tiny Epic Deluxe Editions (getting Tiny Epic Mechs when it comes out). If you're very limited on space, they're a fantastic way to increase your collection. I rank these higher than some of my other bigger boxed games, which I might sell to make room for more Tiny Epic games. They're *that* good (IMO).

    I backed this game and follow the forums on BGG for it (haven't gotten an opportunity to get it to the table yet)... you say the rules are tight but I've never seen so many rules questions (BGG) for a game that isn't in general release. I certainly hope your impression on the rules is more correct.

    • @TheLatestRetroBoardGameShow
      @TheLatestRetroBoardGameShow 6 лет назад +1

      Rob Kanngiesser I guess I just didn’t have a problem with it yet. I played a good bit for the review too. Then again maybe I did something wrong without knowing, but I guess check out those posts too. That being said I think we can all agree that sometimes rules questions make me ask, “how did that even come up in y’alls play?” Lol

    (9 x 8 x 7) / 6 = 84, because each choice can be arranged in six different orders. The formula for "n choose k" is n! / (k!(n-k)!). Look up 'binomial coefficient' in Wikipedia. But multiply by 4 if you like for competitive/noncompetitive and zombie player/automaton. So 336.

    • @TheLatestRetroBoardGameShow
      @TheLatestRetroBoardGameShow 6 лет назад

      majkus this is amazing! I’m totally down with this formula, but why is it 6 you divide by? Is it because the leftover choices?

    • @majkus
      @majkus 6 лет назад

      There are six ways to order three items, all of which are identical 'choices'. So if you have goals A, B, and C, 'ABC' is the same scenario as 'CBA'. To enumerate those orderings, there are three possibilities for the first one, two for the second one, and one for the third - with n items, then, n! ways of ordering them. (k! in the binomial coefficient formula above).

    Math Nazi here. The 504 reference isn't accurate. When you use 3 of those cards you are using the whole card. In 504 you only use part of the rules from each module you pick. So in 504, 8-9-7 is different from 9-7-8, but in this, both would be the same.

    • @Straddllw

    There are actually 84 possible variations of the nine objectives. There is a combination formula that certain web sites will do the math for you.

    • @KristopherMiller0
      @KristopherMiller0 6 лет назад

      I thought you were wrong, so I wanted to find something that verified the actual formula.
      Wouldn't you know it, you're correct! I love learning new things, and I especially love being corrected on stuff I have wrong. :D
      For those wondering:
      Yes, there are technically 504 combinations of the cards (9 x 8 x 7). However, since the order of the objectives doesn't matter (i.e. having objective 1, 4, and 7 is the same as having 4, 7, and 1), you would do an additional calculation, basically dividing 504 by 6, which gives you 84. Pretty interesting stuff!
      Here's the website that I learned it from: mathcentral.uregina.ca/QQ/database/QQ.09.07/h/mike10.html
