it’s insane how stray kids outdid themselves YET AGAIN, and i expect nothing less from them. i love how groovy the verses were, which is quite different from their very explosive, powerful sound, however the chorus hits so hard, giving us that hype stray kids sound we all know and love. i really love what they did this time, and i’m so proud of them. they’ve worked so hard in the 2 ish years they’ve been in the kpop scene for, and they’re just getting bigger and bigger.
Actually,during their live unveiling,they said the song,"Back Door" is about how their fans(STAY) are the "authorized personnel" allowed to "enter through the back door".Meaning that they are always there for their fans/STAYs can come into their open arms whenever, wherever and for whatever reasons(be it for comfort,advice,or happiness).THEY LOVE STAY SO MUCH(""": The over-arching story is long and hard to explain,but basically they escaped from "District 9"(their debut song which represents society itself),a place that groomed them to all be the same and they went on a journey to find who they really are.(The story progresses over the music videos,so to understand it better,you might want to watch all their m/vs in order.)Now in "Back Door",they are returning to District 9 to free all the other inmates from society('s rules on who they should be).I speculate that the inmates are their fans(STAY) and they've come to rescue us and teach us that we are more than what society makes us/tells us we are and that we are free to choose our own path in order to find ourselves.(Hence another one of their songs called "Road Not Taken".) They don't even have a fixed music "genre".Their genre is their own which no one else can copy.(Which is one of the messages behind their last comeback song,"GOD's MENU"). this mv and song left me screeching stray kids really ripped my heart out with this one. This song felt upbeat and slightly explosive but chill all at the same time. Also jisung and felix parts were definitely my favs they really took this song for me!!
I got to admit, this comeback really made me pay attention to this group. Some of their previous stuff didn't catch me, but the musical direction that they are taking is super interesting.
I love this comeback dude. The mixture of genres get me. Like jazz, blues, funk, disco, edm, Stray Kids outdo themselves. All. The. Time. It may not be hip hop heavy and explosive the way God’s Menu is but the more you watch the video and look at the finer details it’s a work of art.
