He didn't want to be seen as just the visual, and I'm pretty sure people have realised how incredibly talented and hard working he is.
July 2021 was called Hyunjuly and for a reason. It was lovely to see how happy Hyunjin was to finally end the hiatus, and Stays' hearts were completely melted.
i really appreciate being mindful of not oversexualising anything, but you get it, he doesn't dance like this with his shirt damn near completely unbuttoned for people to say that he's not sexy, and i think a lot of us fans need to remember that sometimes lol. the piercing is unfortunately fake according to hyunjin himself, but my first reaction to it was very much like yours. this dance was hyunjin's comeback to the public eye after being on complete hiatus for 4 months last year, and what a comeback it was. i absolutely love the overall concept of it, in the mirror he looks like a prince (which was also his nickname at school btw) with his stunning visuals but as the dance progresses he throws that picture perfect persona that the audience has put on him aside and you never really get a clear view of his face, instead he forces you to see him for his skills as a performer. this man can do no wrong honestly, i mean what else is there to even say at this point.

Hyunjin is ethereal. It’s unmatched I swear he just hits different. As for more skz music things, I recommend Domino, Slump, Streetlight, and Red lights. But also...there are too many good ones it’s hard to recommend just a few! Love your reaction as usual x
Hyunjin is something else, such a great, skilled and hard working dancer Just some insights from my perspective, I truly believe he didn't showing his face (we saw his beautiful appearance only in the beginning) cause he wants us to "listen" to his story, he literally "burning" his Prince (called SOPA Prince) personality and shows us his artistry side, unbuttoned shirt is to me more showing vulnerability than being s!xy ... if you pay attention in that b/w part he burned himself as fire (you can hear crackling). That crazy smile, Hyunjin himself defined is as "reaching nirvana" ( I interpreted cause after dark days he finally could do what he loves the most, being on the stage, dancing). Sorry for being so wordy, I could do whole PhD thesis only on this one performance, it's really deep especially for people who know him for long time. I've watched that video 3 times. I only just noticed his shirt is open and I only noticed that right at the end this time. And that thought hurts my brain. So if you read this comment I challenge you (lunatic to doctor) to explain it.
Sorry for the long text. For me this was like his story of what happend to him since antis [haters] ware after him from years even before the scandal and accusations. Some people that don`t follow Skz never accepted his apology [for something that was essentially teens fighting something that happens every day]. Then other people trying to say he is only looks no skills despite him being with 0 background in dance or rap priorentering JYP and now being on this high level. Even pre debut people ware saying to him he can pass because he is pretty he don`t need to work downplaying his hardwork to be seen as more then prince [ I see that as the reason behind the clothes getting less and less royalty like during the perffromance ]. He always had fear of STAY leaving even from 2019 but I think even tho he got more confident all the hate and the hiatus affected him because as close as Day 3 concert in Seoul in his ment Hyunjin asked us : Why you love me? This performance is like telling that story, the story of bein trapped by people`s assumptions based on his looks,being trapped by people`s impossible to reach standard where mistakes from your teens mark you as evel, reason why he doesn`t look in the camera that much it`s like see me as dancer not pretty face at least this is how I see it. Also he progressivly acts and looks more and more unstable during the video too like all things happening drove him to insanity
