    Hey everyone! I just want to point out here that I made a mistake in my initial thoughts on Telekinesis. TK as FREE wouldn't actually allow you to make a RANGE object action as it's worded in the power it just allows you to take a RANGE object action as if you were holding terrain within range and LoF. You would actually need to have RANGE as FREE to do that NOT TK as FREE. Apologies for the misunderstanding! That's what I get for speaking from memory lol but I just don't want to spread any misinformation!
    Update: I edited the video slightly for future viewers so hopefully hopefully that helps.

      I have been playing this game for 20 years and I am here to say that wizkids is out of control. Rebalanced 2019 ish was definitely a sweet spot and I was fine with some of the big changes that made sense like ditching pushing damage and removing the move restrictions on hindering... but they made a big deal about charging more to produce bigger, better sculpting and painting and blah blah blah. WW80 was absolutely riddled with printing mistakes and terrible paintjobs. It's ok to love this game and pretend wizkids is a shitshow!

    If you have two things that resolve at "Beginning of the Turn" can I choose the order? For example, if I have a character that returns to the sideline at the "Beginning of the Turn" can I still use it's leadership which also resolves at the "Beginning of the Turn?"

    • @HeroclixHeadquarters

Of course a few spawns would be sweet, but Shadowhawk was my jam, I still have the full single issue runs, love that guy! If i remember correctly the OG indy set just had Dark Horse characters, which made sense b/c it was under DC comics...guessing Wizkids would need a new license agreement to roll out Image content, but it would be supa sweet, IMO.

      Shouldn't change him at all, he can take a FREE action to use the effect of an equipment that's equipped to someone until your next turn and they can't use its effect during that time. New rules let you start equipped so it's faster if you want him to use your own friendlies equipment effects since you don't have to take the time to equip first.

    I dig the format of new cards, but not in love with the graphics as much. I use card binder storage and I hate having to pull cards out to see stats and point value. That being said, will have to do the same for traited powers if the list is long enough…I feel like seeing stat/point lines are more relevant when window shopping down binder street for a team. TK/terrain update is awesome, can’t believe they ever removed the ability to damage with TK, glad it’s back. Also feel like reducing map size is connected to initiative/map roll…I’m assuming w/ 12 less squares btwn you and opponent, makes the decision of 1st move vs map a little heavier.

    • @HeroclixHeadquarters
      @HeroclixHeadquarters  Год назад

      Good point about the cards, if you keep them in a binder I could see that being better. I keep mine in boxes so it makes no difference to me, and that's probably why I never would have thought of that.

    @roryzaugg8351 Год назад +2

    Pretty much agree with everything you said. While I am also disappointed in losing ttpc, I understand why they are getting rid of it. I think their assessment was correct that most of the time it was used was to ensure that an initial alpha attack was sure to cripple an opponent. Since they seem to be trying to make alpha strike teams a bit less relevant (and I agree that would make a healthier gaming environment), making an alpha strike move way more risky that might not have prob support, will make sure that entire teams start mixing it up sooner.

    • @TheTMNTurtle
      @TheTMNTurtle Год назад +1

      I don't know, TTPC could also be used defensively when attacked by an alpha strike, still just as risky. Now, theme teams can't protect themselves against Big Meta OP teams, like the 2022 Champions team that had 0 theme. Now, theme teams best chance is to go first but let the Meta team decide the map or pick the map but give them the 1st turn to setup.
      Personally, the map change, turn order, and placing 3 terrain at start was a big enough change to help counter alpha strike And turtle teams. But I'm glad some recent pieces will now be more useful competitively for a short time.

    In many ways I mixed feelings about the many rule changes; a little annoyed at the new card style (I prefer not to know my opponents characters dials), I have always thought that theme team probability rolls were a semi reward for being more thematic but I digress, I like that Super Strength was improved, I am very happy about the change to Spider Family moving away from a similar wild card team ability (way too strong to give them Green Lantern Team ability or anything else that is able to be copied), the map change is my least favorite (give some characters have 10 + range is makes such figures OP on smaller maps, yes it will speed games up however strategy will be sacrificed, larger maps require more thought process in how you will attack and defend simply because there are more squares to take into affect, for a simple example I will use the new Aquaman and Anarky= being able to put bombs or water terrain on a smaller map will make it nearly impossible for your opponent to navigate but that's just me. I think if you wanted to use smaller maps for battle royales or sealed tournaments or even another format then of course play on a smaller map with perhaps smaller build total.) Bringing Knock Back damage was long over due, the addition and reduction of quake was interesting but I removing it from being used in conjunction with Flurry makes sense. Adding terrain is interesting; however, I think unless is in relatively inexpensive it will be become yet another thing for competitive players to pursue which gives me pause. Removing the lore or quotes from characters feels like a let down, a relative simple thing to add text to why characters have the abilities they have or humor or serious words or what heroes and villains stand for is something like MTG had once upon a time with the lore and corresponding books, removing the lore and text to me is just cheapening the game. All the abilities going to a minimum of four range makes sense if wizkids intends for everyone to play on the smaller maps, the change to pulsewave range I thought is a good change as it simplifies it. I do like characters that can't fly being at least able to move to an edge of higher elevation and then being forced to stop, but I see how abusive this could be if your can't fly and your opponent has and keeps the high ground. I think I will go over the rules again but those are my thoughts so far.

    These new rules, for the most part, absolutely suck. They're dumbing down the game and removing any strategy involved in game play. No value to themes at all. No value to map selection. Objects now totally useless. Rules actually make alpha strike teams even more powerful and broken.

    • @HeroclixHeadquarters
      @HeroclixHeadquarters  Год назад +2

      I don't think so, there's a ton of strategy for choosing to go first and choose side or second and and choose map, as well as placing terrain at the start of the game cause now you can bring your own elevated, or blocking, or maybe even hindering for stealth or water for dolphin symbol characters. Objects are still about as useful as the ever were, especially as long as sakkarian Iron man is around. We'll just have to see about alpha strike teams though, I've heard good arguments for them being better and worse, time will tell.

  • @cobraviper11

    What about those characters with insane range and movement? Are they just going to shoot your characters before you even move with the new maps? meh...I don't know. The rules seem to be aimed to make the game easier....again. Why can't the new and young players adapt? Why dumb down the game? Some old pieces like Shuma or the Living Tribunal are basically out for being to OP to these small maps.
    Also making minimum 4 instead is going to make everything clustered, all pieces concetrated in one area, reducing tactics.

  • @gameoftriples
    @gameoftriples Год назад

    I still think the bigger sculpts are dumb. The new cards suck. 10 point hencmen can leap onto building tops and jump over lakes. We might as well just play on blank grids. Quake smashes whatever couple walls the tiny map might have had while super strength picks up a piece of flame barrier and invisible force fields? Theme teams don't mean crap. Barrier is garbage now. Incap continues to remain garbage. Bringing back knockback damage is a positive- but taking it away in the first place was stupid. As was taking away TK object attack. I wish everyone would stop trying to make dinner out of these crap sandwiches. Wizkids needs to get their poop together before they put themselves out of business again

  • @Michael-og7js
    @Michael-og7js Год назад +1

    Absolutely love these changes, the game keeps it's complexity but these rules clean it up. I've never been more happy to have knockback damage back, outwit their def powers and enjoy. Super strength finally won't feel useless, in fact it's going to be VERY strong. People will have to change the way they set up barriers, especially with only 4 range. Smaller maps are going to be great. Quake has great utility now. No theme team prob is a good thing imo, it was hard for newer players to remember and was just another thing to keep track of for them. Tk is more balanced, and having object attacks again makes so many old figs playable.
    The only thing I really wish they added as an alternative style of play is objectives with victory points in a competitive format. Still hoping and praying they release something like this
