It's difficult to describe how amazing this place is and how excited we are to arrive here on our floating home.. but you can probably hear it in Allison's voice while she simultaneously laughs and cries while Dal's porpoises surf Uintah's bow! Seriously the best victory lap into the Broughton Archipelago we could have asked for..
Ps. Allison edited this episode entirely on her own since I am currently stuck in NZ, double the work so give it a big thumbs up if you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching, cheers!

A very nice episode. And timely for me as I will be sailing though the Broughtons in just over a month. Looks like this is from Fall of 2022, is that correct? All the marine, birds, and animal life photography was awesome.

Thanks Peter, perhaps we’ll see you up there! We’ve been in the broughtons since September 2022 and decided to keep our boat there over winter so we can keep exploring this spring :)

@@AllisonandJamesSailing I've been enjoying all your episodes. Your photography skills are impressive. I'm based in the Seattle area and will be in the Broughtons in May on the way to SE Alaska. Any tips or favorite "don't miss" places would be appreciated; if you don't mind sharing any secrets :)

Apologies we didn’t show more of Sointula in this episode! We sort of arrived and took off to Gilford island and the rest of the Broughtons pretty quick. More to see of it in our Shakedown episode in the latest season and likely again in future vids :)

We weren’t able to sail much coming North up Johnstone Strait in the Summer

Please, do not hype this area too much. We don't want it becoming a "thing" on the cruising circuit as it will face risk of damage and over regulation - endless hassles for the locals. So please, just enjoy and carry on. "Nothing much to see here" is the safest approach.

    • @AllisonandJamesSailing

Hi Coleen, James and I are ‘locals’ and care deeply about the Broughton Archipelago area. Having a ‘nothing to see here’ attitude is not going to serve or save this beautiful place we call home which is already severely at risk. Colonial extraction activity in the form of unsustainable logging practices, the near extinction of wild pacific salmon as a result of the fish farm industry etc. have all but devastated its fragile ecosystems. We need ‘all eyes’ on this place. We need people to see/know/learn/care and come to love this place as much as we do so that it can be restored, honored, respected, protected and enjoyed by all for years to come.

@@AllisonandJamesSailing hmmmm... Good points re: keep it quiet vs get eyes on - I get the point. And I like your channel and boat, however, what I say next may come across as though I do not. Not sure that it is in as dire a situation as you described. And ease up on the "Colonial extraction" descriptions since, as a white woman, I am tiring of listing the all the virtue signaling that comes from middle aged white women almost entirely. (sorry, but "white women complaining" is becoming a pet peeve across North America and, frankly, it is getting embarrassing). Canada's forests are not only maintained sustainably, they are the world's largest, and the Canadian government that you no-doubt voted for has done one of the better jobs world wide on this issue re: forest management. Also, Canada is easily the best country on earth at managing fisheries - that is for sure. I wish they managed the entire ocean. If, however, you insist that you are "colonial" and, as a white person, are the enemy to this country, or that you stole the land of some tribe, then what shall be your punishment be? Get my point?
