The first US radio station to reach out to a Black audience - with 50,000 watts of Goodwill - was right here in Memphis, Tennessee. 75 years later, it’s still going strong, with on-air personalities who connect to their community and keep their fingers on the pulse of the mid-south! I grew up in Gobler,Mo.use to listen to WDIA, during the time of Rufus Thomas, Muha,Nat D Williams,in fact when I was in Vietnam I sent Rufus a blank reel to reel,He recorded His Show for me and returned it to me, Everyone on the Ship won't to listen to the tape.Ship USS Ticonderoga CVA-14.around 1965-66.😢😅😊😊😊😊😊😊
