As a preds fan, Kracht is great obviously but I feel like overall Knorp is the best player in the MLW. It’s hard to justify picking ANYONE over Knorp. If you had a redraft of the MLW Knorp would 100% be the first overall pick. His impact in all 3 phases of the game make him so valuable.
Honestly it’s hard to disagree on that, the only thing is that Kracht pitching is slightly better and his hitting was a lot better this year. However, if your picking someone to lead a team, then 100% it’s Knorp
Saylor in the previous years was arguably one of the best hitters in the league. I don’t know what happened but he just looked like a total different player
Man, I love this video. I love that you made it. It’s what we need. I’m going to give one criticism that’s also a compliment. You are great at baseball metrics… which is also a problem to me. Advanced metrics need a full baseball season to make sense. I love looking at stats, but with the number pitches and at bats you need waaaay more eye test. This is a clutch league. If you have 10 bad at bats to 1 walk off hit you are a .100 hitter but your WAR passes the eye test. Thanks for your effort.
Sorry to respond to myself but the point I was trying to make is that in such a short season A LOT of these stats come in games that are already over. Not a lot of impact on wins.
Thanks for your support! But one thing I look for a lot is consistency, and how consistent you can be at producing for your team. I’d love to take credit for the metrics, but that’s all Sean’s work. His links are in the description if you wanna check him out lol
amazing video, my second time watching it. ik it’s not much data but I’d love to see a follow up of big drops and improvements, as well as reviews of the new guys after slate 3 :)
I think your list is really really sound from an analytical standpoint! Like other ppl have mentioned, I am concerned about small sample size and volatility and how cold and hot stretches can essentially last an entire season, but I agree that consistency is what matters the most.
Great video! I’m a Mallards fan so I really hope Kolm and Carlington especially get more time and develop. Davenport is unfortunately probably the odd man out at this point :(
I need ur MLw playoff prediction before all star break I’ve got mallards and predators in the World Series and I think Robles might take it home what r ur opinions
As a preds fan, I’m happy to see Behen go out of conference. With that being said, I do actually think the gators are a threat again. I thought it was another bailout, but both Behen and Drew being on the pod makes me believe this was actually real. Jorgy really stepped it up last season, and I think Behen is going to bring some energy to that squad. I think literally everybody on that team is going to do way better than 2023 (I mean, it’s hard not do better.)
And the cobras traded for the 40th best player in exchange for the 23rd best player There must be something we don’t know because this is a horrible trade
For a list about the top players going into 2024 I really wish there was more appreciation on players trending upwards. Maybe you could do a video about where you think everyone will rank next year? Cool video with more people would make mlw vids
I try to do a little projecting, but I try to balance it out between 2023 and projecting for 2024. I could do a video about players that are looking to take the next step forward.
I do think Sawyer, Jonah Heath, and Blade are too low on your list (I keep my own list throughout the season and I had them in the teens) but other than that I was pretty spot on agreeing with everything. Awesome video!
Thanks! I definitely see where ur coming from with pitching. However, it depends on how you value like a tier 3-4 pitcher vs a tier 2 hitter which can be evaluated in many different ways.
I also think 13 is wayyyyyy too high for Warda. I value people who are able to be passable on the mound more so Sawyer, Cheetam and others I have higher
Crazy how the guy least known in the draft turns into the 3rd best, and became arguably the best hitter on his team. Pyszka gonna be a stud for years to come.
Agree with Kracht being 1 … he’s pitching is elite. I get it. But Grant Miller is far and away the best player in the league. That team won the series because of him. And you got to put Walgate as 3. Those two carried the Magic.
Might be a bias magic fan, but I would put Aigner a little higher than 33. His average wasn't good, but the power is there, and he can definitely fit as a 3rd bat for the magic in my opinion. If he goes into 2024 with the same fixed swing, I think he'll do way better. I would also switch Chadwick and Carlington.
I’d like to see a bit more consistency from Aigner, but he definitely outperformed my expectations. I could see him higher if he continues. With Matt over Chaddy, honestly it’s more that I just see a higher upside with him and I like his OBP capabilities a bit more. I would love to see Chaddy return to form tho
@@eck.sports I do agree that Aigner wasn't too consistent, but Caden Irwin played in 6 games throughout the regular season, while Aigner played in 14, and I think Aigner should have been higher, just for showing up.
He can't pitch, he can't field, he can't run bases/get an extra base, he can't hit contact for a high average, and he can't draw a lot of walks. Decent power is literally the ONLY thing he has going for him out of like 6+ attributes you'd want in a wiffleball player. I think 30ish is plenty fair.
Jimmy is the best player in the MLW. Been in the league for longer all the awards only team to win back to back championships. He wasn’t at his best hitting this year but was still a dominant pitcher crazy he isn’t 2 or 1 on the list. He’s like a one man show carrying that team. But Ryan is also very good only player in my mind even close to as good as jimmy
Calling Szerlag the worst manager is crazy. He has a WS ring, he may not have been the Gators best player, but he made the move to draft both Jorgy and Cheetam. He then had the self awareness to step away from managing (after this video was made) when he realized the Gators weren’t going anywhere right after he traded himself to the Cobras to play for the actual worst manager in Drew Davis, for Sawyer Behen so the Gators could have an ace.
I definitely thought it was a W for the Gators, but Behen/Baran didn’t work together since they have very similar skill sets and clearly there’s an issue with Behen/Drew so idk. Also I think it’s good that Szerlag gets a change of scenery.
@@eck.sports Bennett hasn’t done anything in his career and Ackerman literally just won World Series MVP also what has Jacob Pychka done to be that high
@@MatthewShapiro1006 Pyszka hit very well when he played, but i'd agrue Bennett is better at getting on base and providing for the team. We'll see how they do next year tho.
Solid, but I don’t see how RJ could be over Knorp/Grant/Robles considering that he was a rookie and only pitched. Grant only hit, but was miles better than everyone else while RJ was very comparable to Dallas and Kracht.
Any thoughts on the list?
quality list
Some small changes I would make but overall very well done!

Knorp had a down year last year.
Kracht is still the best. Knorpp is #2, but Kracht is the best overall player.
Dude he just spent a bidei justifyingqhy kratch is 1
Kracht is way better at pitching
Saylor in the previous years was arguably one of the best hitters in the league. I don’t know what happened but he just looked like a total different player
I’m really hoping he can bounce back this year considering he would’ve been a top 5 player the two years before
It’s his swing he changed it significantly
He was taking massive hacks the entire season he had flashes of his former self but it seemed like he was putting a lot of pressure on himself
I think I remember the boys on pipe it up saying that he’s done with baseball and that messed him up? I could be wrong. Saylor will be back I believe.
This last video where he played the D-Backs shows that he is definitely back
