Glad you liked this one! As someone who appreciates lyrics a lot, it always makes me grin the way they introduce the image of the pyramid early in the song in the guise of a metaphor for class and then tie it all up so perfectly when they remind you in the final line that pyramids are, in fact, graves.
Du skulle nog digga "Livet är en fest" med Nationalteatern och "Hon kom över mon" med Contact. De är lite samma stuk som Keops, dvs monumentala progglåtar😃
The song is like a typical Swedish folk song up in the north. And yes They where politically to the left, like the whole Swedish music movement was at that time, until ABBA came and f…ckt it up 😂 The singer is Mikael Wiehe and the list of songs with him and Björn Afzelius (Also in the band) would keep you busy for a a year. But pick Titanic, you will like that one a lot.
This is so very swedish, the proggsound with sounds from the swedish folk music as well, typical 70s. They were very anti ABBA and the commercial music industry, in Sweden in the 70s there were actually demonstrations against melodifestivalen! Hard to believe today. Anyway, this is really good and classic. I have suggested before Ikaros by Björn Afzelius, I hope it ys on your list.
Haha! Great reaction. The weed reference was on point! I get Jefferson Airplane vibes, specifically White Rabbit, which has a similar marching feeling.
Glad you liked it, damn sometimes you surprise with good taste. Holabandola made a lot of working class songs, and were almost accused of being communists. Which of course in Sweden was not quite as bad as being accused of the same thing in the States.
I don't know if you've done Flickan och Kråkan yet but I would really love to see your reaction to it (Mikael Wiehe did the original but tbh Timbuktu's rendition is good too).
The Hives - Walk Idiot Walk En del skulle säkert rekommendera ”Hate to say i told you so" men för mig är ”Walk Idiot Walk” den ultimata The Hives-låten. Gitarriffet gör mig så lycklig.
Lyssna gärna på fler låtar med Hoola Bandoola Band. Jag älskar deras låtar och tycker namnet är hur bra som helst. Coolt. 1:37 Mitt namn är taget med inspiration från dom. 😅
Grym video, som vanligt! Hade varit jättekul om du tittade på Veronica Maggio & Håkan Hellström, "Kärlek är ett brev skickat tusen gånger - Live på Ullevi". Ett helt otroligt liveframträdande!!
Please do, would love to go to your show and show my gratitude for your videos, it happens i rewatch your eddie meduza ones, since i am från bruksorten i'm born with his music practically . Have an awesome day! :p@@JonathanRollinssthlm305
approximate translation of the first verse: I am one of those slaves on the Keops pyramid we are the ones who work down by the foot. And we toil and we sweat, so as not to lose time. It's a pity for those who don't fill the quota Once you come here, you will never be free again. If you end here, you end in the pit. But people speak of the king that he is a son of the sun. Behind fifteen double bars, behind fifteen double locks, holds rich parties in the halls of power. Here there is nothing threatening, here there is nothing disturbing. And if someone must die, or some shall be beaten, there are others who can enforce the decisions. The cry of anguish or howl is never heard here.
Great song, but I think I have to say there are better versions. When I think of this, I think of a more stripped down version with more emphasis on the lyrics. Perhaps it's Thåströms? And it's no surprise at all that Thåström have made a cover of this. Progg is the predecessor of punk so it definately makes sense. In fact, one of Imperiets biggest hits is a cover of an old progg song, "Staten och kapitalet". And when you talked about this as an epic song, it reminded me of Kjell Höglunds Häxprocess. It would be awesome to hear you sink your teeth in that one. It's a mouthful. And perhaps a bit hard to chew, which makes it all so much better. :)
To get the core of this song, which by the way feels more current than ever, imagine living in todays Ukraine, trying to be Bob Dylan adressing the russian regime while singing the songs masters of war and it's all over now baby blue.
Do Horgalåten: It's a true neverending classic. The song is probably to old to definitely find a certain artist, but you should react to it nevertheless.
Have to say I'm disappointed you've only listened to one song by Ola Magnell. PLease listen to Min häst har blivit sjuk and Rulltrappan by Ola magnell. Or even När jag dör or Kliff by the same

It's such a good metaphor, and tying the tower of Babel into it too, just cleverly done all around!

Tack Jonathan🙏💞
It's my pleasure!
Amanda Jenssen - Amarula Tree
Tidlös klassiker🎶 Om du vill reagera på fler ut av deras låtar så rekommenderar jag "Herkules" eller "Victor Jara"

Thåström have made a fantastic vesrion of this song with Wiehe on the stage... It's on YT
i actually never heard this, really cool working class anthem

Almost? Neither Wiehe nor Afzelius has never denied their politic standpoint to my knowledge

A favourite of theirs. Try "Jakten på Dalai Lama" and "Juanita".
”Juanita” is a favorite for me. The other song i haven’t heard what i know.
Yes one of my favourite band in my youth...and creedence too thank you!
