    Great thanks - been looking for a clear explanation of this and here it is! To be safe on an older SIM probably a good idea to merge contacts (see 'settings' menu in contacts)

    I have a iPhone 7 with a sim and I am about to upgrade to a 11 pro max. But I was wounding when I move my sim to the new phone, would I keep contacts, phone number, and some messages. Before you say do a data transfer, I can’t because the screen does not work on the iPhone 7.

    Mifi devices and old dumb phones still use SIM cards so I can't see them going away completely or anytime soon

    Do you need a SIM card in your phone?
    When I purchase phone (circa 2018) it did not have a SIM card. My existing carrier took over the original my phone provider. They and now are asking that I insert a SIM card. I have yet to do that. Am I missing something if I don't?
    Your thoughts would be appreciated.

    I hear some apps use the information on your SIM card to identify the owner of the phone. True or false?

    Someone took my iPhone and I am aware if they try to turn it on, I will get notification but what about my SIM card? Can they do anything with it? I had an iPhone 8 and then switch the SIM card to an iPhone 12 before reporting it lost a few days. I know the individuals who I think have my iphone12. Am I in danger of anything?

      They can take that SIM card and put it in a different phone but it’s not likely there is any information stored on it. Just have your wireless carrier deactivate that sim if you haven’t already.

    Thank you for your content. My T-Mobile cell phone is saying that I need to reformat my sim. Then when I go there it says to be careful that I will lose any data on there. Will that mean that I will lose all my contacts and their information? How do I transfer this data to my computer before I reformat the SIM

    • @jeradtech
      @jeradtech  Год назад

      Reformat the SIM? I’m not even sure what that means. These days the your contacts should be saved to your phone through the email service you use such as Gmail. I would make sure your contacts are saving to your email provider so nothing is stored only on your phone. You want cloud backup because if the SIM fails or you lose your phone, your contacts would be lost.

    My carrier recently switched me to esim from hard sim because the sim port had stopped working. But I forgot to keep my hard sim while at the store. Can a bad employee misuse my hard sim?
    Secondly, I continue to get no sim card error message presumably because the sim slot is now empty. How can I get rid of it?

    • @jeradtech
      @jeradtech  Год назад +1

      No, SIM cards are deactivated immediately and it’s highly unlikely any data was stored on it.
      Your phone likely has the old SIM card still enabled. Go into settings as I show in the video and remove the old SIM card. If you’re not sure which one is witch you might want to go to your carrier to have them do it.
