Nice video! I reckon number of actuaries in China was underestimated by a fair amount cos Chinese Actuarial Association has suspended its examinations roughly 2-3 years ago and also Chinese actuaries students keen to follow US or UK track, thus its interesting to see a large proportion of actuaries practice in China are actually members of SOA/CAS/IFOA/AIAU, etc.
Around 10 fellow actuaries are working in Saudi Arabia and only one of them is Saudi cetizin. In my opinion, considering the actuarial candidates, in the next 5 years the number will increase significantly
You are correct regarding Pakistan. We register for either soa or ifoa, since our society (Pakistan society of Actuaries) does not conduct their own exams
Sorry I am asking an irrelevant question to your subject. Can you tell me if there is a universal mathematical formula for calculating CETV for DB (defined benefit) pension. What are the main variables? How do they interplay so affect CETV particularly when it is close to normal retirement date and whether the absolute long term gilt/bond yields are less important than inflation index linked yields. Apologies actuary is not my profession. I am just trying to understand how my CETV comes about. Thanks.
Hy @MJ. Did you take into account the distortion due to Actuaries being members of 2 or more Actuarial bodies. Eg I can be a member of ASSA, IAI and IFoA
Good question! I did that for the Consulting Societies in America and the UK. (Didn’t include them). I didn’t do it for the others cos most people won’t want to belong to many as the annual membership fees are incredibly high and the marginal benefit isn’t worth it. So while there would be some double counting, I don’t think it would be a significant number.
It is important to consider the percentage of the number of actuaries in relation to the work population of the country. In Portugal there are many actuaries, and some of them even senior actuaries are not part of the Portuguese actuaries institute.
@@MJtheFellowActuary In my opinion, it is due to the fact that they do not know the advantages of belonging to the Portuguese Actuaries Institute (IAP). We are currently looking for ways to reverse this situation. In your opinion, what has the Institute of South Africa actuaries done to have so many actuaries?

This is such an actuarial thing to do haha... I love it!!!
Would you ever be willing to give us a tutorial on how you put that map together? Im in a research field myself and could make good use of such a tool
How your skills are amazing. Please teach me your excel skills

True, even in APRIL 2020 attempt the seats of CS2 centers (IFoA) is filled up in India

@@MJtheFellowActuary Thank you very much for your response.
It was a great analysis in the video.
Can this spreadsheet be shared please? Thank you so much!
Majority of the Actuarial Aspirants in India, register for both IAI and IFOA as we can get Exemptions between the two.
Don't know about Pakistan though
They are stopping the exemptions next year.

In kenya we opt for the British professional papaers (Ifoa)
Is Actuarial Science a good course in Kenya?

Hello I am an actuary from central america (Costa Rica) we exist
Ah awesome! Glad that you do!
What does it mean if my country is not part of the I.A? How would that hamper my future prospects? Kind Regards Bud
Australia has around 23mil people and has 4% of actuaries. Actuaries per 1mil population very high compared to others (USA and China omitted).
AMAZING 👌
I have a question. When we graduated from university major actuary, can i be a CEO soon? Sorry for a bad english
best way to become a CEO is to start your own business. Otherwise its a long climb up that corporate ladder!
Correlation is not causation!
But for sure, there is some sense in it.
Is true that 99% of actuaries use Excel to perform statistics?
hicham boukharsa depends.you don’t just use excel. You use a combination of SQL, Toad, GGY Axis, R. But the Bakou part is excel. That’s true
Argentina present!

First
about Taiwan, actually your government, Nelson Mandela to be exact, also changed the policy since 1992 to recognise Taiwan as part of China.
