He probably drove old school manual cars before moving to automatic, older cars do not need the clutch down to start, it wasn’t a common feature before keyless.

In HK, we don’t need to clutch down to start the engine but car in Europe needed to do so.

My Car driving test is finally booked for 12:28pm on Friday 20 September 2024 at Mitcham (London)
Let’s hope nothing happens to my test slot.. i still have bad experiences in taking a uk driving test.😢
i only gotten the confirmation email at 6.54 am 😂
i was so confused on where this was.😅
Thought i given wrong email for example.
It’s a massive relief to have a test date in as my phone isn’t allowed to book a test slot.😮
Definitely can learn a lot from this mock test video
Was Lovely to talk to Rayan and euphoria in the live chat a little ❤
Well done Steven on passing this.😊
Wonder when i could take a mock test with Aman.😮

Congratulations Steven, we love a pass!! I'd just say, with the Pedestrian, there is a new Highway Code Rule about giving them & bikes right of way at Junctions. Also, remember they're 80 KG of flesh and bone, we're 2 tonnes of metal it's only going to end one way if we hit them.

Binge watching this now as an American driver of 18 years in an automatic! I am on my way to the UK soon and will be learning manual, pretty excited. Manuals are SO uncommon here I don't know anyone who owns one to even attempt to learn. Love watching these to try and get a feel for road signs and seeing someone driving on the other side of the road/car, normalize it for myself.
Side note: Bit crazy that Americans are legally allowed to drive manuals there with their license ... even though most never have. Not that I think many would casually attempt.

Omg you see that traffic light situation? I had similar happen on my test day and it was the safest option. I got to the test centre excited in me that’s I had finally passed on my 4th attempt and guess what, examiner said I failed for that. I am still in shock 2 plus weeks on… I could have stopped but it means harsh break and stopping on the stop line and a possibility to be hit by the car behind 😢.
Anyway, I’m going again to try this week hopefully I pass if not I’d just take a break cos the last one broke my heart
    Well done Steven ❤

Perhaps Steven has not read the HWC since its revision two years ago:
Rule H2 - Rule for drivers, motorcyclists, horse drawn vehicles, horse riders and cyclists
At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.

Hi Aman, I have a question, in the book know your traffic signs under the double white lines section it says you must not cross a continuous white line to enter a hatched area but underneath that under the section overtaking lanes it says you must not cross a continuous white line to enter a hatched area except for the reasons mentioned for double white lines (turning into or out of a side road or property, avoid a stationary vehicle, overtake a bicycle horse or road works vehicle travelling at no more than 10mph), which one is correct?

    • @wrightwoodwork

No . In a real emergency with a child or car pulling out in front of you, you only hsve time to slam on the brakes. Saying that as you are driving you should have an awareness of what around you.

He also got a bit lucky around 5:15 as he entered the yellow box junction before it was obvious that the vehicle in front could clear it. Later on, when he merged into the 40mph dual carriageway, what was the classic car that overtook?

Is engine breaking a thing or is it considered bad ?

    • @matcha-corgi
      @matcha-corgi 6 месяцев назад

So engine breaking comes in when you drop down a gear, it's better for your breaks and using both engine breaking and the foot brake can give you better control of your speed. There is a video on this channel of a lady learner who used engine breaking unsafely, forced the gear stick into first approaching a large roundabout in traffic, the engine breaking slowed her down super fast without break lights on, that was due to her forcing gears that the car didn't want to go into though, Im not sure if this helps but as all controls in the car, they need to be used safely and legally

Another mistake in my opinion is that he is often holding the steering wheel with only 1 hand, and the gear stick with the other. This is not safe, and it can also damage the car when you hold your hand on the gearstick.

No don’t agree on two counts. Firstly inviting the car into the road could have caused an accident if any other vehicle had been approaching. Secondly you now have to give way to pedestrians crossing the road, especially as that one wasn’t even looking, but perhaps I’m being a bit harsh.
