    The Cambrian period, part of the Paleozoic era, produced the most intense burst of evolution ever known. The Cambrian Explosion saw an incredible diversity of life emerge, including many major animal groups alive today. Among them were the chordates, to which vertebrates (animals with backbones) such as humans belong.

      I would say if they were all bigger to a size that would be a treath to humans, the Hallucigenia would be the last I'd want to face.

    That must be a smaller Anomalocaris species, larger ones could reach 38 cm. Other large organisms were Titanokorys (50 cm), Laminacaris (78 cm), Ramskoeldia (possibly 90 cm), and Omnidens (150 cm).

      @@Prehistorica I heard that maximum size for any anomalocaris was between 60 to 72 in. Yes six feet is not impressive today, but don't think of that size would have seemed god-like in the Cambrian.

    • @Exquailibur
      @Exquailibur 11 месяцев назад +3

      @ugiaGuardian I think you mean cm not inches, I havent seen any papers saying they get over about 2 feet or maybe 3. Again 3 feet doesnt sound impressive but back then it was, I really dont think a 6 foot long animal would be able to survive as an apex predator, maybe a filter feeder or something could get that large then?
      If you have sources I am very interested.

  • @Abdullahgnathodus2
    @Abdullahgnathodus2 6 месяцев назад +5

    There are a lot of Trilobites, especially during the Cambrian. And there sizes vary from a few millimeters (Order Agnostida) to 30CM in Paradoxides. However most generally stayed in the smaller side of the spectrum. However, the smallest Trilobite ever was the early Ordovician Ptychopariid Acanthopleurella stipulae (>1millimetre) to 70+ CM (Ordovician Asaphids Isotelus rex and Hungioides). Basically it is misleading to put "30CM" as the Size for Trilobites. And the Anomalocaris is also fairly Undersized.

  • @bruh949
    @bruh949 3 месяца назад +1

    Anomalocaris reached 70 cm, that’s a tiny one.
    Also Omnidens reached 2 metres (bigger estimates) and others of its family was between 50cm - 1.5 metres. Also there’s Aegirocassis which lived in the end and into the Ordovician at 2.1 metres long.
    Also there’s tonnes of trilobites, so which one? Some were in the Cambrian up to 40-50 cm and very wide.
