Sizes of Cambrian Animals

The Cambrian period, part of the Paleozoic era, produced the most intense burst of evolution ever known. The Cambrian Explosion saw an incredible diversity of life emerge, including many major animal groups alive today. Among them were the chordates, to which vertebrates (animals with backbones) such as humans belong.
Which one of these prehistoric animals look more terrifying?
I would say if they were all bigger to a size that would be a treath to humans, the Hallucigenia would be the last I'd want to face.
Opabinia, probably
Lagania
Habelia!
habelia, imagine a mantis shrimp mixed with the golsipod poke
on and mixed with a giant isopod COMING STRAIGHT AT YOU LIKE ITS BANZAI CHARGING😟. THAT SHIT IS TERRIFYING
That must be a smaller Anomalocaris species, larger ones could reach 38 cm. Other large organisms were Titanokorys (50 cm), Laminacaris (78 cm), Ramskoeldia (possibly 90 cm), and Omnidens (150 cm).
I must have included those as well. Gonna make a larger video on those animals and publish in the coming weeks
@@Origins_Evolution The maximum size of Anomalocaris canadensis was roughly 68 centimetres.
@@Prehistorica I heard that maximum size for any anomalocaris was between 60 to 72 in. Yes six feet is not impressive today, but don't think of that size would have seemed god-like in the Cambrian.
@ugiaGuardian I think you mean cm not inches, I havent seen any papers saying they get over about 2 feet or maybe 3. Again 3 feet doesnt sound impressive but back then it was, I really dont think a 6 foot long animal would be able to survive as an apex predator, maybe a filter feeder or something could get that large then?
If you have sources I am very interested.
And none of those *Genera* were Anomalocaris species. Do you mean Radiodont?
Hallucigenia is cool, but in real life the Pikaia was the one that kept moving forward.
Pikaia ss the most sea anmla😂👀
hallucigenea just keeps moving forward
Hallucigenia is a stem-panarthropod; its close relatives would go on to produce, among other animals, the arthropods, including insects, maybe the most successful lifeform ever to evolve. I'd say they also kept moving forward, lol
Apparently the relatively big Laggania used its appendages to filter water and sediment on the sea floor to find food. It was like a mini-whale
Anomalocaris was bigger than most trilobites in its time.
There are a lot of Trilobites, especially during the Cambrian. And there sizes vary from a few millimeters (Order Agnostida) to 30CM in Paradoxides. However most generally stayed in the smaller side of the spectrum. However, the smallest Trilobite ever was the early Ordovician Ptychopariid Acanthopleurella stipulae (>1millimetre) to 70+ CM (Ordovician Asaphids Isotelus rex and Hungioides). Basically it is misleading to put "30CM" as the Size for Trilobites. And the Anomalocaris is also fairly Undersized.
Anomalocaris reached 70 cm, that’s a tiny one.
Also Omnidens reached 2 metres (bigger estimates) and others of its family was between 50cm - 1.5 metres. Also there’s Aegirocassis which lived in the end and into the Ordovician at 2.1 metres long.
Also there’s tonnes of trilobites, so which one? Some were in the Cambrian up to 40-50 cm and very wide.
then there is omnidens with a titanic 150 centimeters
the size difference between cambrian animals is insane
you go from "oh, fairly large compared to the others in its period" to "thats like a fucking fighter jet"
I don't know why "trilobite" is included when all the others are specific genera; there are hundreds of known trilobite taxa and they range from an inch to a couple feet long. Maybe you just mean average size but this should be clarified
None of these prehistoric animals are terrifying to me because instead their beautiful 😊
I hope u see this,i would like to know where did you find the video from the start,or if you made it,how did u made it and how long it took
Hallucigenia☠☠
Anomalocaris is bigger than a trilobite
excuse me would you make devonian, carboniferus, permian and mesozoic animals please
Wait until you touch the hallucigenia with your spine
The laggania looks like a metal mechanism
Canadaspis got me good🤣💀
The anomalocaris is bigger than the trilobite
People today: Humans are strange.
Meanwhile:
nah humans are still fuckin weird.
Pikaia is just a glorified flattened worm, humans are bipedal four-limbed landfish that feed their babies skin secretions, I'd say that's weirder
0:45 HEY, IT'S MY GREATE GREATE GRANPA (Pikaia)
IT'S PIKAIA RICK
In reality, omnidens was the largest, over a meter in length, 4ft long
halluigenia is real and I can turn into a titan
Joke or nah
Joke
So you didn't even include the apex predator omnidens
Superb
Where is the cambrian creature Omnidens Amplus??!
0:49 Oh Shit I Must Not
let It Touch My Back.
Anomalocaris averaged around 2 meters, and you're putting them in here at around an 8th of that size?
1:38 can a anomalocaris eat a trilobite that big
can anyone say whats the real size of that trilobite
@@OaabasicReal 10 cm long on average
@@thatwolfensteinguy8954 ok thanks
@@OaabasicReal There were trilobites ranging from about an inch to over 2 feet long, there were probably many thousands of species over the course of geologic time and there isn't one size. I am not sure what species that is, but that does seem like a pretty typical size for most species.
El trilobite no vivió en el cambrico vivió en el ordovidico saludos desde ARGENTINA
Anomalocaris could reach 2 meters in lenght
Anomolocaris was 3 feet long! Not 25 cm! I’ve seen the fossils.
Music in this video is unpleasant.
Same anomalocaris was predating on trilos those sizes may be alittle off
Realise that anomlacaris grows up to 2 feet😂
Nectocaris crying in the corner
Anomalocariss were native to British Columbia waters.
Bro the anomalocaris is bigger than the trilobite
Oh, cool, number 2 is Corb?
i left a dislike because i feel like you could put more stuff that's under an inch. stay true to yourself and don't make the same mistake. cambrian explosion is very serious
* cough cough _Omnidens_ cough *
so many seafood!
noooo
But those are extinct
@@thekikie03 but imagine how they would taste. I wouldn't eat them tho. I'm not that big into seafood. But hell, shrimps are good. But other than that, i don't really eat it. Dish also just rarely. But who knows? maybe a Trilobite tastes like beef.
@@genesis209_gdyou must be in the wrong generation my brother.
@@genesis209_gd Why not imagine how they would look and sound and move and just exist? I've seen this idea come up so much in paleo discussions, it's genuinely weird. Shows humans haven't changed much from the days we killed and ate every new species we found. If I had the magical privilege of going back to that time, I would never even think of disturbing any of these animals. They are our ancient ancestors, they are our creators, what a sick thought.
I LOOOOOOVE ANOMALOCARIS!!!
OPABINIA FOR LIFE
The
Trilobite is bigger it’s not bigger then there amlocrens
this is BS, Anamilocaris literally preyed upon the trilobites.
first of all, didn't prey upon the trilobites. Second of all that is the largest trilobite species from the cambrian.
