Why We Don't Teach Readings (yet!) As mentioned in the introduction video to this series ( ruclips.net/video/RKWrWRFyfYo/видео.html ), it is my philosophy that it is a WASTE OF TIME to learn the readings for each kanji in isolation. I explain WHY in that video. To learn how to read kanji, I think it is best to learn WORDS that contain that kanji in the context of SENTENCES. We WILL be doing that in this series, after learning the meanings and writings for the 118 kanji in the JLPT N5 and Kanken 10 tests. So fear not! You WILL be learning how to read them in the near future. 😊
Wow i was just trying to get started with Kanji but felt overwhelmed by the lists and sources. Following this video series will make it so much easier. I can't express how grateful i am.
Quick question. Can you also add the Japanese pronunciation for each as well or is that in a different video?? Thank you for spending your time to make these videos.
@@ToKiniAndyworthwhile for a kanji series! there's no one else teachin these, im sure it'll become a valuable asset for japanese learners for years to come.
Thank you for this. i've been taking Japanese for 9 quarters through continuing education at a local community college (had to have a covid hobby - mine were learning Japanese and to play the Harp). Because it is a continuing ed class, it meets for 2 hours once a week - we go very slowly and we hardly cover kanji at all. This is SO helpful and i'm looking forward to expanding what i know with you.
This is outstanding stuff. I appreciate you making learning materials like this freely available. Not only does your content help with learning, but it also helps me stay motivated and inspired to keep studying and practicing. Keep up the great work! And to my fellow learners, keep at it! You got this!
Your Genki and Quartet videos are the most important additions to the books in my opinion! It was visible that the more the level got difficult, more people gave up. But you still kept going and helped many people out! @@ToKiniAndy
This is perfect for people who also want to write in Japanese. I actually gave up on that, since I focus more on listening and reading. But this course is so much fun that I want to give it another shot.
あの大口の二人が四国の三一侍であるはずがない。Not sure how grammatically correct this sentence is but it a pretty good way to remember these 5 kanji. Plus it has got Samurai in it so that always spices things up.
It certainly does spice things up, although if the learner can read all those other kanji, they probably don’t need to worry about the 5 in THIS video. hahah
I've just started learning Japanese, which will be my 2nd language. I think your videos will definitely help me out. Especially with the Kanji. Thank you for teaching us.
Andy, you're my last hope. I had given up on learning Japanese. Remembering the Kanji (RTK) was too frustrating for someone with little to no time who actually wants to read something. Despite having learned over 1200 kanji, they rarely appear in texts, while others show up much more frequently.
I really appreciate the effort of showing both calligraphy and standard handwriting examples for the kanji. The calligraphy looks beautiful but unrealistic to how the majority of us will write
I find it a little confusing that while showing the brush versions we're seeing curved lines and strokes that cross each other. In the workbook or printed version (mouth, for example) it's no longer a curved stroke but straight line segments. I assume most people will be entering or using these digitally, but if one needs to write, assume it'll be OK if you learn only the handwritten and not brushed/stylized versions.
For the work you are doing I cannot understand why not more people are subscribed to your channel. Sir, you are making learning japanese so much more affordable and accessible. Thank you!
This series is going to be an incredible tool for many people. This would become perfect if Japanese pronunciations were included in the introduction of the Kanji. Like learning any English word, we learn the words, then it's definition, and come up with synonyms on our own naturally. I think this approach would elevate the series drastically; however, even without this addition, this series is still going to be great as I have not seen other channels taking the hardcore brute force approach of actually teaching each individual Kanji. Especially in this free format
I cover why in the first video in this series (Kanji 101). We won’t learn readings. We will learn WORDS that contain each kanji within sentences, which will teach us to read them. 😊
Hey, should I use character AI chat bots? Im chatting with an AI called "Easy japanese" I started a conversation and managed to learn 4 kanjis in 10 minutes. should I continue doing this to learn kanjis?
Thank you so much....I love your teaching style so please continue. Btw, I don't skip the ads so I can help you making more contents especially how to learn kanji step by step😊
I look forward to this series, im currently roughly half way through with the kanji for the JLPT5 and Kanken 10 but only now started learning how to write them. I really like the clips where the kanji is being written. Thanks for making this series its gonna help me and a whole lot of other people to learn kanji.
Finally got around to starting this series and am excited to learn! Thanks for keeping it all simple - I got a little notepad sized whiteboard to practice the stroke order on first and some squared paper for when I feel ready for an actual pen lol
あのさ、そのレッスンはどこまで行く?常用漢字の全部を教えるまで?漢検レベル4を終えるまで? Up to what point are these lessons gonna be taught? Until all common use kanji are covered or until we've reached kanken level 4?
@@ToKiniAndy hmmmm that seems reasonable, since there's quite the amount of kanji and it would take years to cover all of them (depending on the video format of course)
Makes kanji easier to learn. If you ever write them they will look better. If you ever read handwriting, it may help you read bad handwriting. Those are just a few reasons. But as with literally anything, it’s completely up to you in the end. 😊
Hey, as somebody who knows hiragana/katakana, and SOME kanji, where would you suggest that one starts learning with your videos? It's crazy how much history is in these little characters. Since I lack originality, most of my Kanji stories were pilfered from Kanji Koohii though
