    I grew up in a Pentecostal church and I love it. I wouldn't want it any other way. If you're in a controlling type of church then find a different one. The Pentecostal movement is biblical and it's a good thing. If people worship the way they are supposed to there's nothing about it. Read the book of Acts. It's all there. Nothing about a cult. Read the book for yourself. Build a relationship with God and not a set of rules and regulations.

    Her story is very similar to mine but backwards. I'm finding my way BACK to the Pentecostal church after relocating over 5 years ago. I actually had become depressed worshiping in a setting that my soul did not agree with. Not wanting to participate...skipping service, not interested in the sermons, and lastly falling out of love with God. So agree with the need to find the balance. Don't force yourself to do what's against your good!

    I myself am Apostolic Pentecostal. And every church is a very case-by-case scenario, so I cannot tell you what you have endured or what you have not. The church I’ve attended my whole life does uphold the holiness values but we do not turn away from those wanting to seek God. There are some standards to be a part of certain ministry facets, but we’ve always been welcoming to our community and pray with them that they be saved and discover the truth through fervent prayer and repentance. I’ve also been taught to never degrade another denomination. We’ve always strived to be respectful and loving to all. No one church is perfect. But I always pray for whoever comes and goes that they be blessed abundantly, and that they may find truth through their personal relationship with God. May God Bless all who read this.

    I was raised Pentecostal as well, my father was a pastor. Anyway, I had the worst experiences ever in the church and this constant beating into our head that we would go to hell for everything was horrible. Your video was in my recommended shortly after posting my own video “I was tormented by the Pentecostal church”. I think you’re very brave to come online and post a video about your experiences and your ability to walk away from the church. Religion is filled with doctrine and doctrine is all man made and man controlled. You definitely don’t have to be involved in the church to have your relationship.

      Sarah Jones You most certainly can develop a relationship with God when you are not in church. I haven’t been to church on a Sunday for over a year. I was attending a church, not Pentecostal, I gave up on them 10 years ago! But the church I went to I really thought they were lovely people, then this elderly woman befriended me, I mistakenly thought she too was lovely, then I started to notice things that she said, and before long I sussed she was ‘putting words into my mouth’ that I hadn’t said. She was telling this other so called ‘Godly woman’ that I was criticising the sermons, to name one of the things she accused me of. The woman she was telling these lies to, had been nominated as the person I should go to if I had questions or problems. This woman never approached me to clarify if these claims were true, and because I had only been with the church a few months, she assumed that the woman, who had been there for 3 years, was telling the truth. This matter resulted in me developing chronic anxiety and eventually panic attack’s. Thankfully soon after, we moved to a new area, and I don’t go to church at the weekend at all. However, I go to an Anglican church for a mid week, mid day communion service and remain friendly, but distant from the congregation, and thankfully there’s no after service ‘tea and cake’ get together, so to me it’s a bit of a Hi and a bye situation. But after my past experiences it suits me fine!
      But, every day I study the Bible for a couple of hours, I pray and I have a much better knowledge of the Bible now than I have ever had. And my relationship with God is the best it has ever been.
      One other point, recently there’s been a lot of conflict between the Saturday sabbath and the Sunday sabbath worshippers. I am praying about it, but I feel that if you spend both these days in prayer, study and worship you are treating both days with reverence. So, as I go to a mid-week communion service too, I feel that I am honouring God in every way I can. My relationship is not suffering for it.

      @@b.goodfellow465 I agree with what you said. You need to study into the Catholic Church. Also the original Sabbath day. Original Sabbath day is Friday from Sundown to to Saturday sundown. That is where we are to do no work and concentrate on God. It was changed by the Catholic Church to Sunday which is a pagan Sun worshipping day. All the holidays that we celebrate our pagan holidays that the Catholic Church brought in. They let go of their standards and allowed the pagans to come in and worship as they did because it increased the church's membership. That is the truth. You can find many helpful pages that talk about this history.
      Another thing that the Roman Catholic Church did was remove the one commandment which speaks on not worshipping false idols, graven images. They then took another one of the Commandments that was a lengthy one and split it into two cover the spot for the missing one.
      I had a conversation with someone who is Catholic a few weeks ago who told me that that is the Roman Catholic Church that has done all of this and that there is actually a form of Catholic Church that does not align themselves with the Pope and those teachings. That they actually believe in Jesus and do not go to a priest for confession. That surprised me. I will tell you though that I've been to many Catholic churches that my friends have invited me to and I've went out of respect because then I invite them and they come to mine as well. Every Catholic church I've been in has had graven images of all these other Saints that they pray to. I just did not feel in my spirit that it was right I felt as God was telling me that that was wrong.
      You're absolutely right though, our personal relationship with God on a daily basis is what it's about. The church is a place to hear preaching, but we have to search it out for ourselves and many have set on a church pew and only listen to what was preached. Everybody has their own idea have how things are.
      If we stay in Daily relationship with him and we received the Holy Ghost oh, God uses that to commune with us and lead us on the correct path. The Bible says not to forsake assembling with one anothe, it also says iron sharpens iron.
      I understand why people don't go to church now though, I have experienced the same things that you have and it's very hurtful. Some people think they are above others and have all the knowledge and they can be misled in the way that they speak and that they treat us. Gossiping in church as that lady did, is a sin and it causes division and it causes people to walk away from church, as it has me as well.
      God bless you and your walk with Christ!💞💖

      I totally understand where you are coming from. Grew up in it. I've seen some of the responses you and others receive when you speak out about the cult of UPC. Believe me though there are plenty of people involved in this organization that want to turn it around and take the bad rap away but the hillbilly mindset and attitudes must die off first. If you can't have a normal conversation with someone without trying to hurt them, insult them or belittle them, then those people are not acting like grown mature adults. I used to defend them as well, but when you actually get into the word instead of allowing them to explain it to you there are a great many things that are man's rules that are incorrect interpretations. Such as the outward appearance of sloppiness that is put on the women. There are no goals for women to better themselves but to be under a dictatorship of their husband. I know that not all of them are that way but many are. Women's worth is far that above rubies. You can't come out at everybody every day with Hellfire and brimstone and without the love of Christ it births nothing, is nothing more than scare tactics to rule people by fear.
      I absolutely believe in modesty, everything in Jesus name, the Holy Ghost and receiving water and spiritual baptism by evidence of tongues. Not many places teach that so for that I am grateful.
      www.gotquestions.org/peculiar-people.html
      I think this right here is a good explanation as what it is Meant To Be A peculiar group of people as it was intended to mean in biblical times. I noticed that the UPC uses this to defend themselves when people make fun of or question the dress of women and all the other things that are put on women or any other strange Behavior. Pretty interesting how there's hardly any rules on man.
      I love how they have preached against the television for years. Not everything used to be bad on television although today, it mostly is and as well we found out it is a programming box for CIA mind-control. What is very hypocritical of them is the fact that they think it's totally okay to own a computer and have access to the internet. I have many family members in ups and in pastoral positions. I have watched them fall from the pornography they access from their computer and from pornography movies they watch on their computer through their DVD drive. I've watched my ex father-in-law who is a UPC pastor with a church abuse his wife mentally physically and financially as well as his Three Sons. I've watched him go out on his wife with a prostitute and buy her a home. I've seen him make his wife taken her children and raise them for two or three years. I've watched their sons one who I was married to never defend their mother and the abuse that she was put through. the one who received the most abuse was the first born son who was my husband and I was a good wife. But he and turn decided to cheat on me our entire marriage of 25 years and abused me like his father did his mother and himself. Another man who let his sexual lust lead him to other women. I dated this man for 5 years and never did I see what I did once I married him. his family is family to the mcclintock's. There is much abuse on his side of the family. His mother's father and mother were ministers and her father was a child molester. Never did these men have their licenses taken away from them they just continued on destroying lives as their wives turned their head.
      Absolute brainwashing. I struggled with doing what supposedly is God's word and not leaving my husband because they don't talk about abuse or food abuse for that matter. last time my husband laid a hand on me I still was caught up I'm wanting him back because I made that Covenant inside of a church to God.

      Even though the UPC claims that there is no out from a marriage there most certainly is for someone who is abused and has been cheated on repeatedly. I am now way from my abuser. I would not have been had I listened to them. You can pray all you want but you can't make the other person want to do the right thing. My ex had a degree in Psychology and he was very good at gaslighting. Gaslighting is also a technique that some church people use. I'm glad to see that you're happy where you're at don't forget the truth that you've learned, this may be your destiny to share that truth with others in your church. God bless you!

      @@GizzelleBrookes-vs5ec show me different denominations in the Bible please. The truth is, people want to please their flesh so they try to label the Apostolic Church as a cult(ad hominem), rather than give scripture. It's all to suppress the truth to live in unrighteousness
      (Rom. 1:18).
      Sincerity is good, and we must be... But it's not enough. Cain was sincere in his offering to God, but God rejected it. She said in the video people can find their own way to worship God, I'm still waiting for the Bible verse that says that!
      The Bible says Jesus is the savior of THE CHURCH, not any old church(Eph. 5:23). You must be apart of the Apostolic Church to be saved, it's the only true Church in the eyes of the Lord(Eph. 4:4-5, 1 Tim. 3:15)

    I am Pentecostal but not apostolic. I have notice that apostolic Pentecostal you have to shout when you go to church. Sorry but I know people and went to a couple of apostolic churches. It seems like they are trying to work up the spirit. Something is wrong if every time you go to church you have to shout. God moves in many different ways not just one. As far as having to wear a dress all the time because of people then your under bondage. The bible says to work out your own salvation. A pastor is not suppose to dominate your life. You are suppose to have a personal walk with God. A pastor is suppose to lead you in the ways of what the bible says not try to work everything out for you. I pray that God leads you to the right church where you can have freedom to serve God as he leads you and go by the convictions that God gives you not man. Everyone convictions will not be the same (unless it talks about it in the bible) because everyone is different. Also if you need to repent all you have to do is ask Jesus to forgive you. Paul did say to " stir up the gift that is in you" ( meaning the Holy Spirit).Sadly, most professing christians have never been baptized in the Holy Spirit, so they don't have the gift to stir up.When we pray for, and are being filled with the Holy Spirit, it is impossible to be baptized in the Spirit(" born of Spirit John ch.3) if the believer refuses to yield their tongue, to the Spirit, so that He can bear witness, verbally ,through their tongue, that they are " born of the Spirit". He does this in His language which is refered to as " tongues"( one heavenly language). This yielding also triggers the overflowing baptism and the Spirit joining with your spirit, to dwell in you forever.

    I left all charismatic doctrine and “ worship” behind after I did mine own research and study.
    When you learn to tell the difference between “ descriptive and prescriptive “ scripture and how sound biblical exegesis work, then the truth come out and the error of charismatic doctrine is quickly exposed.

    I've been watching you for awhile now and I'm very glad to see that you're in a better place! I will say this though, I am Apostolic Pentecostal and I lead worship at Life Restoration Center in Greenville, SC. I believe in one God, being baptized in Jesus name, and being filled with the Holy Ghost is the truth. I wear pants, cut my hair, wear jewelry, and love makeup! Just because you're Pentecostal doesn't mean you have to follow "man made" strict standards. None of those standards are required to go to heaven as most Apostolic Christian's believe. There are Apostolic churches that do not preach that you have to wear skirts and you can't cut your hair. I pray that when you're seeking God's word, you stick to the truth! Upci or any other organization that preaches strict standards may focus on those too much, but they do preach the doctrinal truth! Please stick to the word of God and don't trust that you just have to love God or believe and you're saved....there's so much more! He loves you so much and wants all that you have to give Him, believing isn't enough! 🙂 God bless and Merry Christmas! ☺️❤️

They told me that if a person is not baptized in both water and spirit, then they are going to hell. One man said his little rural church had no baptism tank so they did the baptisms in the river, but in the winter, of course the river was frozen. He said he was terrified he would go to hell if Jesus returned before the river thawed.

    Thank you for these videos Destiney. They are really helping me in my recovery out of Apostolic Pentecostalism. My story is this. I was born June 9, 1995 in Corpus Christi, Texas. My mother Sandra was the daughter of a Baptist deacon who at times would travel to area churches that needed a minister. My father Candelario grew up in a Catholic family but rarely attended mass. He then was invited to a Baptist church where he learned of the Gospel and gave his life to Jesus. My parents met, got engaged and we're married within two years. Four years later, they had my sister. But it was a whole seven years before I came along. When I was born, my mom's father has just passed away from a while long battle with Alzheimer's. I was born with my brain sticking out of the back of my skull and if long term damage was to be avoided, I needed to have surgery immediately. The consequences were also not clear, as to whether I would be able to see, speak, hear, or be in a wheelchair. The surgery was a success and I only have a scar in the back of my head, although I do suffer from poor concentration and social anxiety. Because of what happened to me as a baby, I was overwhelmed with care growing up, one would even say smothered. My mom and dad were good Christians who enjoyed going to church, praying and meditating on the bible. We went to a trinitarian pentecostal/full Gospel church that preached about the gifts of the spirit. Then when I was about 2, my mom began to question her salvation. She had been a huge football fan to the point where she would miss services, and feel guilty about it. She also started praying and reading her bible less. She begin to question whether her salvation was real, and if she had to confess Jesus openly, would she deny Him as Peter did? Then one of her girl friends from the Baptist church she grew up in, this friend had a large family with many brothers and sisters, began attending a different kind of church, because her marriage was falling apart. Soon her husband started attending and his life and the way he treated his wife and children drastically and dramatically changed. Soon after, half of her siblings started attending and started changing the way they lived too. My mom started noticing they were not cutting their hair, not wearing makeup, not wearing jewerly, no longer wearing pants, jeans or low tops, but only modest blouses and skirts. They also were all throwing away their TV's or at least not turning them on. My mom was shocked by all of this, and she wanted to know the reason why this was going on. She asked her friend about it and her friend told her, Do you know all the things we were taught was all a lie? She then proceeded to tell about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and how she had received it and her brothers and sisters and their families who had gotten in had received it, and it has changed their lives. So my mom decided to go to a service and check it out. So we went to a special service with my mom, my dad, my 7 year old sister and my 2-year old self. First off, the pastor was so nice caring and gentle. He was one of those people who would do anything to help you. He would come and wash your car, mow your lawn, anything to show you he was a servant and never pushed us to join his church. He wanted to pray for my mom, who was holding me in her lap. He asked her to hand me to my dad so she could be free to agree in prayer. Then her friends and other ladies in the church began to gather around and place their hands on her back, as he placed his hands on her head. She claims that as he began to pray for her, she felt a sensation she had never felt before. She begin to shake and quiver, she began weeping for no reason, and began to stammer her lips and tongue. She truly believes it was her first encounter with the Holy Spirit. Over the next 6-7 months, she would pray every day to receive this experience again, while was occasionally visit the church, and she began to negate any time with football and soap operas, the two things she loved the most. During that time, my father visited his sister's church and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speak with tongues. A few months after that at our home church convention, my mother finally received the baptism of the Holy Spirit that she so desperately craved. She thereafter began to only watch Christian television, listen to only Christian music, and read her bible and pray several times a day, as well as not miss a single service. She then began to attend Bible studies and host them in our home with these new "Pentecostal" people from our friends church, where they began to enlighten us about the Oneness of God and how the Trinity was a false doctrine. It was long before my parents "saw the light" of if you've seen Me, you've seen the Father, and I and my Father are one doctrine. They're eyes were opened and they saw that the church we were part of didn't preach that. They also became concerned that our pastor was not preaching and stressing the importance of the experience of speaking with tongues, and that so many in our church were being held from this glorious revelation. But my Mom was a treasurer, and my Dad was a longtime Sunday School teacher, so they were anxious to leave so easily. Our friends were certain we were just stubborn people that would come around soon to the Truth. After 3 years of going back and forth about changing churches, the pastor that was in charge was leaving to South America to become a full time missionary as he had previous roots in missions work, and there was a new pastor being installed. This one was a little more stern, not as gentle and carefree and liberal when it came to modesty and Holiness standards as this other pastor was. This new pastor was more conservative when it came to upholding Holiness standards and stressing/enforcing them. He was emphasized greater, more emotional and louder worship, with running the aisles and dancing as a way to praise God, something that wasn't not done in that church. But the church was so excited about this pastor and his different new style, that they went all in with it. This is where we come in. We decided to leave our church and spent months visiting different churches trying to find the right one/buying time before the decision we knew was coming.1 month ago•

      So then we learned where we could go to obtain the books needed for school. But it would be a three hour drive to and from. So once a year we would drive 3 hours to go get my books, and come back. This continued until my Mom who had stopped working before I was born, decided to go back to work to help pay for the mortgage on the brand new house we had recently bought. So now I had to stay with my grandmother 8 hours a day, which was fun cause I loved spending time with her, and my schooltime was changed to after 3 pm when my sister got out of school. Then things got really crazy because my sister was in her senior year, my mom was working hard, and no one was really paying attention to my school work, so I slowly started to slack off. I also began to habit of watching television at my grandmothers house, which was a reopening of a pleasure that was missing from my life for a few years. From simply watching cartoons, to watching soap operas and grown up dramas, I slowly became addicted to television and I never wanted to leave my grandma's house. I would throw a fit with my mom arrived to pick me up, and I would ask her to let me spend the night at my grandmothers house. Some times she would say yes and sometimes no. By this time my sister was finishing senior year of high school and approaching graduation time. I was 9, going on 10, and at this point I was being pressured for at least a year or so that my time of innocence was over, and I needed to understand my need for baptism and seeking the Holy Ghost. So I would regularly ask my church friends to help me pray and seek the Holy Ghost, but something about it seemed so pressure filled and I just could never break through no matter how I cried. So after a little while I gave up on seeking the tongues. Then I started getting bored with church and Sunday School, I hated learning verses for each week and doing homework for Sunday School. As discussed, watching TV at Grandma's house was a much more exciting experience than going to church and being told that you're not saved until you complete the plan of salvation.

      So after a while I checked out, my body was there but my mind and soul wasn't, or I would make up excuses for not going to church. Then after I had turned 10, and my sister had graduated high school and started college, I hit my parents with a bombshell. I told them I had received Jesus into my heart, and even though I didn't speak in tongues or was not baptized, I truly believed I was going to heaven. They laughed at me, saying it was a phase and I was just trying to avoid doing what I was supposed to be doing in order to be saved. This went on for about a year and a half, and I gave up on it, because I was still in the church and I knew in my heart that I was just playing with God. So then I told my parents I was ready to be baptized, and they were estatic. I went to my pastor and said I was ready to be baptized. He scheduled a date and got the water ready. Unfortunately the day I was to be baptized was the Sunday before Christmas 2008, and the water would not warm up. So I had to be baptized in cold water. I should have known that I shouldn't have done this. But I decided to do it anyway and I asked God to fill me with the Holy Ghost through water baptism. So I got in, he declared to the congregation that I had professed my faith and obedience to the Word of God, and he baptized me in the Name of Jesus Christ, and I was to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. I went down under the water and came back up hoping I would begin to speak in tongues, but after a while I was not getting it. I even tried jumping up and down in the water to try to get God to give me the Holy Ghost but it didn't work. So after a minute or two, I just opened my eyes, dried my face and body and got out of the water, without the experience I was hoping for. I was excited that I completed the step of water baptism but I was dissatisfied with the fact that I still had to seek the Holy Ghost. So from December 2008-June 2009, I regularly sought the experience of speaking with tongues, each time to no avail. I was told that I was holding something back, that I wasn't truly repentant and I was not giving all to the Lord and yielding my tongue to the Holy Spirit

    • @luketorres2863
      @luketorres2863 6 лет назад

      After June 2009, I gave up and only sought less and less as time went on, and I was not able to break through. Again I was told that I was not told I was yielding and surrendering all. Then came the scare tactics from my naturally pessimistic and negative mother. She would tell me what would happen if the rapture happened, and I would get left behind. She began make plans in front of me of how I was to survive after the rapture during the tribulation period because I hadn't received the Holy Ghost and I was going to be left behind. Then the pastor preached that disobedient people were not allowed to be in any role of ministry. If you were going to be on the platform, you had to speak in tongues and already have the experience of Jesus name water and Spirit baptism, pay your tithe regularly, men were only allowed to wear white shirts and ties with dress pants and shoes (a suit was preferred), and the ladies had to wear modest clothing. Also if you were a YOUTH, YOU WERE TO SUPPOSED TO SIT IN THE FRONT ROW. THE BOYS SAT ON THE LEFT AND THE GIRLS SAT ON THE RIGHT.
      Now I am a musical person. I have been singing my whole life and I learned to play the piano when I was 7. I also loved to pray for people and witness to people. But I was not qualified and therefore not allowed because 1. I didn't speak in tongues and had supposed character flaw for not feeling the urge to seek it. 2. Didn't always want to wear a white shirt or wear a tie. Sometimes I wore colored shirts and no tie, and felt out of place because of it. 3. I didn't want to originally sit in the front pew, and my pastor had to confront me and by just asking me to do it, I gave in and conformed. 4. I didn't always make sure I kept my hair cut and I let it get a little long (for legalist standards long) and again the pastor asked me to get my hair cut, and once again I gave in and conformed. 5. I wanted to keep my money. I had a small job babysitting and I didn't want to give money up for tithe. But when I lost jobs I would feel guilty about it because I thought God was punishing me for holding back His money

    • @luketorres2863
      @luketorres2863 6 лет назад

      So even though I conformed to sitting in the front pew and keeping my hair short,. I still would not seek the Holy Ghost or keep the other standards for being on the platform or serving in ministry, I was not allowed to serve in ministry at all. I felt I was not allowed to pray for people because I hadn't received the Holy Ghost and for that reason I could not witness to others, because if I didn't obey the Gospel, how was I expecting anyone to listen to me and believe the Gospel?
      So after a while, I got tired of church and I felt like leaving several times. Each time the assistant pastor who was part of the big family that my mom knew growing up, would prophecy that someone was considering leaving the church and that they would lose out with God. So each time I would repent and ask God to forgive me and I would recommit to staying in church. I was always so jealous of that big family. Of 13 brothers and sisters, 6 were members of their church, including nieces, nephews and cousins, and the other half were still Baptist, and we were so invested in their family life, because half the family was part of our church, and we were part of the outreach program to try and bring in the other half of their family. I was also jealous because half of the youth group were part of that family and they had so many relatives in the church, and my parents, my sister and I were the only ones in our family who were Apostolic. Also because of homeschool, and the fact that we didn't associate with any area homeschool groups, I felt alone and isolated because my only friends were from church and my whole social structure revolved around the church. From there my social anxiety developed, one I still suffer from today. We also didn't have a lot of money growing up, so we were not the cool outgoing types because we didn't go out to eat with everyone after every service. My mom was not confident in her cooking skills, so we would never invite the pastor and his wife, or anyone from the church for that matter. I was also sickly as a child, suffering from regular colds and asthma, and my mom also suffers from asthma and chronic coughs that linger for months on end, so we would miss church sometimes growing up. All these things have led us to be just one of their members, not being the ones the Pastor calls on for help, or not being in favorite status with him, and being passed up for specific positions in the church. Then there's the worship of the pastor. The church body strives for excellence in pleasing their pastor, so regularly for Pastors appreciation, birthdays and anniversaries, the pastors and his wife are rained upon with gifts of appreciation. The pastor has been on three cruises so far, the church has gifted him with numerous vacations, expensive gifts like a brand new freezer and instruments for home, and it is considered a blessing on the church that he and his family drive nice cars and live in a nice home. But what is frowned upon is if you refuse to give a love offering for them, or question if they have been gifted plently. If you do that, you don't appreciate the man of God and you better check your spirit.
      Then the assistant pastor had a falling out with the pastor and a side note, was teaching things in youth group that the pastor didn't approve of, so one Sunday after the assistant pastor showed up late for service and did not sit with the pastor, it became clear that something was wrong and the pastor announced that his assistant was not longer to serve in ministry and was not allowed to have any authority in the church. This caused him and his wife to walk out with their children, openly declaring that they did nothing wrong. We were then asked as a congregation to declare (the man's extended family included) if we didn't agree with was going on, we could freely leave. We of course stayed quiet in our seats and no one got up. 1. Because we were afraid and 2. We thought we were right and he was wrong for walking out. The family returned the following Wednesday and openly repented. But it took a few family prayer times before they started acting back to normal. But they were still never allowed to have any role in ministry unless approved by the pastor. So he would have guests come from miles away to preach because he no longer trusted his ex assistant.
      This was a pivotal moment

    • @luketorres2863
      @luketorres2863 6 лет назад

      It was then when I was turning 17, barely doing any homework, and questioning a lot of things. I begin to question several things, which lead me to question everything. I liked that assistant pastor, and because I knew him from before we joined the Church, and he was older, he had a lot of influence on my life. So I began to question.
      Was what he did so bad that he can no longer be trusted in ministry? Why is what they disagreed on so hush hush and not discussed?
      Are we not allowed to disagree with the pastor on anything? Are we just supposed to say yes to everything he says or does?
      We cannot question any authority of what he says? Come to think of it, no.
      Is everything he says true or not? Is there a possibility that he is wrong?
      What if everything we have been taught is wrong? What if we aren't saved just by water baptism in Jesus name only or speaking in tongues?
      What if all our family and friends are really saved? What if everyone I tried to witness to and pressure to believe this "Gospel" was already saved?
      Why does it seem like everyone outside the church who are supposed to be not saved and lost, bound for hell, seem to be happier than us or happier than people in the church? How are they more loving and giving and caring and more joyful than us?
      Why are people who don't have the Holy Ghost, more joyful and loving than those that claim to have the Holy Ghost?
      Why are people outside the church giving and caring, and our church family is selfish and judgemental?
      Why do people who are not supposed to be saved have better character than those who are supposed to be baptized and filled, and yet are hateful, mean, envious gossipers who like to act one way on the platform, and act totally different after church?
      What if baptism does not save you? What if the Holy Ghost does not save you?
      What if salvation is through putting your faith in Christ alone, and the finished work on the Cross?
      What if God is not just one entity appearing different times under different titles, but works in unity with his son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit? What if the Oneness doctrine is the heresy and we are not in the Truth?
      What if our works of Holiness and tithing does not save us or make us better looking in God's eyes? What if we are made the righteousness of God only through Christ Jesus, our Redeemer?
      These things entered my mind continously for a year. I started staying up all hours of the night going to sleep at 3-4 am and waking up around 12-1pm because I was afraid to fall asleep for fear of Jesus coming and I would be left behind. This traumatic fear, lack of sleep, in addition to being in a legalistic church, caused me to develop anxiety, depression and a symptom called Depersonalization Disorder. Something I have dealt with since April 2011. I often feel as if I'm in a fog, seeing things with my eyes with a glass mirror sensation but not feeling part of my own body and difficulty registering things in my brain, feeling numb to the world around me and not being able to relate to anyone around me

    I love any avenue people use to find God, whether Pentecostal or whatever, but I find it very strange that people speak in tongues in church and Pastors are not only ok with it but encourage it.. 1 Corinthians 14- Paul very specifically forbids this for obvious reasons- ppl look crazy to newcomers and will quickly turn them away from God.. I haven’t spoke to Pentecostal preachers about this but I wander if they just skip this chapter of the Bible? What happened when the disciples spoke in tongues on the Day of Pentecost, they were actually speaking the languages of foreigners that were there traveling for the festival, what they were saying was understood by the people, turning 1000’s to Christ in 1 day.. It says this in the Bible, that they were speaking in foreign languages, not spiritual rambling that wasn’t understood by anyone.. It goes onto say in 1 Corinthians 14 that when we speak in tongues, do it in prayer when you are speaking alone with God, for that is a one on one connection between that person and God, so that you don’t turn newcomers away from God thinking that church is full of crazy people!

Please be advised that you are special to God & remember He will not quench a smoking flax or break a bruised reed (Is 42:3). He has ordered your steps (Ps 119:133), sees your end from the beginning (Is 46:10), & is acquainted with your feelings (Ps139:3). You have the most beautiful spirit of anyone that I've known that has left pentecostalism. (Probably because you didn't grow up in it; believe me that's a whole diff ball game.) Which Pentecostal Church did you attend? Where they a Oneness Church? Did they quote Acts 2:38 a lot? Did they stress getting saved? Or do they stress receiving the Holy Ghost?
    There are Biblical Pentecostals.
    The UPC and Apostolic Churches are not.
    It is more important to love your neighbor than to speak in tongues.

      The UPC and Apostolic Pentecostals are the biblical church founded by the apostles of the Lord beginning when they were baptised in the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2.They were there because the Lord commanded them to go there and wait for the Spirit. After be filled with the Spirit, Peter preached the gospel message and then answered the question "What must we do to be saved?".That is foundational church doctrine. The book to the Romans on, was adressed to congregations of christians that had already followed the command of Acts 2:38, that not only were instuctions on how to be saved from eternal damnation but how to be " born again".The strict holiness standards of past years have been revised in UPCI churches and Pentecostal Assemblies of the World because they were discouraging seekers from serving the Lord.As far as their saying they were the only ones saved, it is not because of arrogance or of being a cult but biblical assurance that they had followed the Holy Spirits' commands through Peter in Acts 2.Jesus said " Narrow is the way and FEW therebe that find it".

      @Grace and Truth 1611 too much grace preached and nothing about living holy and walking away from the things of this world to follow Jesus is why so many churches think that God is only Love and grace and end up doing whatever they want. Believing in Jesus and trusting in God grace is essential in our walk and should be foundational for our life. However the bible instructs us also to live a life separate from the things of the world which wage war against the soul. Without holiness u will NOT see the Lord. God told me this a year ago. There is too much confusion. People throw the baby out with the bath water. Being Holy is not works. If u think its just about grace then u are already missing the mark. God bless u

      I bet you're one of those pastors that interpret the bible in their own knowledge. That accepting Jesus is the way to be saved when it's not. I know few people who are believers in Christ outside Pentecostal. They experienced death and still went to hell. So you're interpretation and saying things like that about Pentecostal is wrong and you are wrong. I grow up Catholic. Went to a lot of non denominational churches yet no one can satisfy my spirit on the questions I have been asking this Pastors. This Pastors make up anologies which are not even biblical. But when I went to Pentecostal UPCI,they answered most of my questions they even showed me in the bible. I may have stopped going to that church but I'd rather be in Pentecostal church than anywhere else pastorart1974. So no thank you and I dont appreciate your comments about UPCI Pentecostal church.

      That wasn't a church...that was a "Power Trip Center", with some "Nutjob" having somehow got it in his head that he can control people's lives, act as if he was "God", and feeling therefore, that he could pull your strings like a puppeteer pulls the strings of a puppet. Glad you got away from that evil influence! I know what you're talking about, because that very same thing happened to me! However, when I saw discrepancies begin to pop up, such as preaching against certain things, and having no Scripture to back up what they were preaching against, that was strike one. When I saw two guys one evening, at the altar, crawling around on their hands and knees, barking like dogs, that was strike two. The final thing that happened was that some of these "good people" were involved in gossip, backbiting, and gathering information on people, so that they could use it against them, and could use that information to hound people, as well as follow them and know what they were doing (in other words, they were playing "God" with their own parishioners), that was DEFINITELY strike three! I left that church (or should I say, CULT!!!), and have never gone back...and I never will!!!

    I’ll say this. I am a proud apostolic Pentecostal. Not the proud you maybe thinking of, but so glad I’m here. You can’t have the Holy Ghost and not understand holiness. You didn’t just leave, you left a long time ago. You stopped praying. You said so yourself. You can know the scriptures back and forth and quote them blind folded, but that doesn’t make you member of Gods Holy church. It’s spiritual. Everyone who says you have to jump or shout because we make you. Wrong. You are the people that kill a church service where the spirit of God wants to work. God put shouting and dancing in you for his glory. Don’t say you can’t. When you start going to the casino and gambling, I bet you’ll jump and shout then and you will be so liberated. And your new church will say all you have to do is “believe”. The Bible warns of strong delusion, and God himself will give it you because you refused the truth. Not satan.

    I was raised Catholic and now I am a PCG licensed minister. Religion will never save us. The only way for us to receive salvation is by believing that Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God. Once we believe, the desire to build a relationship with God will naturally grow in us. This is done by reading The Holy Bible, Praying, and putting God's word into action in our lives. Church is a place where we build supportive relationships with other believers and a place where God's elect watches over those believers God has put into his or her care in case our adversity tries to lead us away from God. It is an organized way for believers to put to action their love for God through service, praise, and worship. When someone is looking for a church for any other reason, they will find that which is not of God; a religion. If anyone relies on anything other than The Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation, they will not end up saved. 2 Timothy 3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

    There is a lot of different ways to find God but one way to heaven .God was pricking Robs heart into searching and that’s ok that is great but we need a preacher to hear . When someone ask the pastor to pray over them it’s sincere and that person believes God can fix the situation It’s called faith ,there is a sweet spirit of God there is a sorrow spirit and there is a joyful when people shout they are joyful cause what God has done in there life .No one can remove you from God not the world only you .God does not leave us we leave him . So Im tell you my story similar to yours .I was Catholic all my life til I came to an Apostolic Church one day .When I was 26 my husband was in church seeking the Holy Ghost at the time I saw something different about him and wanted that pureness he had ,so I started reading the Bible then going to church with him and it was like nothing I ever felt before it was a feeling I would never forget ,so I repent got baptized and then filled . I loved living for God it was easy bc it was in my heart the harder you serve God the easier it is, so 5 years went by loving my life til one day my heart was waxing cold bc I stop praying and stop being obedient to God that ended up with me backsliding .so I went back to the world like a dog goes back to his vomit when he throws up . I was back out in to the world and it was worst then before I was 7 times worst then I was the devil brought me further then I wanted to go .I got my self on a roller coaster for 15 years now crying a lot during the time thinking about God still remember the life when I was in church but couldn’t break free the devil had a hold of me again .Then one day my husband and I ran into someone from the church and invited us and it was so good to see that person so we went and it was like the same feeling when I first walked in I could feel God again and God was pulling me back we started going again then in one week I was filled with the Holy Ghost again and now today I’m 44 it took me 16 years to get back to God so plz don’t be deceived listen to your heart pray follow God don’t let worldly things get in the way of your love for God it’s isn’t worth it .I would never change my life now I love God and there is nothing worth getting out of church for ..Amen I’ll be praying for you God bless

    Destiney, I believe you have done the right thing. I did not grow up Pentecostal, but I have been to a few of their churches and have Pentecostal family. I also have been divorced because my first husband was having an affair that he refused to turn away from. I'm married again for the second time and my current husband grew up in Gospel Assembly churches his whole life. He shocks me sometimes with his very narrow minded view on things. The overwhelming focus on outward appearances, claiming that all other churches other than his own is wrong and have no truth, all the while he shows no more signs of bearing good fruit than I do or anyone else who grew up Baptist or any other protestant church. His sister and kids have basically shunned him because he went through a divorce. They believe he will become a part of "Mystery Babylon" if he does not get back into that church and that anyone outside of their church cannot be saved. I've done some of my own research on Gospel Assembly and their background is full of pedophilia, sexual abuse, controlling leaders and so much more. I know how you feel just from what little bit I have seen from the outside looking in. I will pray for you that you are able to let all of that horrible control and false teachings go and continue to move on. Love you dear sister in Christ. Keep your head up!

    ST. pauL says
    1 Corinthians 14 :4-14
    4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. 5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.
    6 Now, brothers and sisters, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction? 7 Even in the case of lifeless things that make sounds, such as the pipe or harp, how will anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a distinction in the notes? 8 Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle? 9 So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air. 10 Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning. 11 If then I do not grasp the meaning of what someone is saying, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and the speaker is a foreigner to me. 12 So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.
    13 For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.

    Real apostolic churches like mine are not like what she and others who left churches like this are like . The ones she described and the ones who are on youtube described sound like the Pentecostal churches I dont visit . Real true apostolic Christian's love everyone and except everyone and we dont force anything but if poeple ask why we do what we do we explain but its ultimately there decision to do so or not . The way we believe is we do everything the Lord has in his bible to do even if its necessary or not .. heaven or hell issue or its not.. I do what I'd o because I love Jesus and I want to follow scripture to the T .. because either love Jesus that much to do that for him . and it's not my place to tell u how u should live . Its Gods place. Nuthing wrong for living modestly when u doing it for Jesus. Not for the church not for people but for Jesus. But I wouldn't be in this if it weren't for the experience I got when i was 13 And got the holy ghost . And no not everyone who gets the holy ghost goes crazy . Actually getting holy ghost is Gods spirit in you . When Poeple shout, jump, run , ext it's not because we loose control of our bodies .. those are signs of praises and worship for God that are explained in psalms. And other books of the bible .. there is just so much to explain but .. the churches she talks about and others on youtube talk about .. sound like fake apostolics .. they believe what they are doing is right and good but still haven't come to the holy ghost to discern what is God and what is not .. that's the difference.. between real followers of Jesus and the fake poeple . Ice seen videos of what people think all apostolics are but when I seen those vids they look charismatic and I can feel that they are demons mocking God and making true followers of Jesus apostolic Christian's look bad . Poeple need to understand that's u are gonna find that in every denomination . My church believes in to never scream or argue or fight with poeple and end a conversation with you are gonna burn in hell .. that's not my place to say that . Look I love everybody and I'm sorry so many had bad experiences with fake Pentecostal churches.. I'm sure not every single person in there was fake but majority has the hate in there heart . I love everybody praying for yall and them . Please dont think that we are all like that . Yall have a blessed life

    You were a Pastor and could not find GOD (vid Time 6:14). So it's sound like to me you had head knowledge, but not revelation? How can you be a pastor then? Your spiritual body must be on fire to preach and you could not find GOD? Did you have him in the first place? What is the issue to leave a church, it seems a lot of Americans are finding it hard to leave, do I see legalism? You have to find God for you. Church is not the place to define your soul tie to GOD, its you.

  • @taliah02

    It is not required to worship, it’s a choice, the Bible says you need a church you need a pastor. Becoming saved has nothing to do with rolling around and acting “crazy as you said” you don’t need to try to mimic how the Holy Ghost works in people, you cannot be in the faith on your own, but God is using you. You didn’t ordain yourself to do this, God put you there and kept you there, so trying to “research” won’t do you any good, because God did not ordain you to teach or preach, don’t stray people away from God. If your church was doing things wrong find a new church, the church is the body of Christ it is Gods house, if you knew the Bible as well as a pastor minister or any other ordained leader who preaches truth, you would know that in order to be saved you need a church. It’s no coincidence that I stumbled upon this video. No one should be able to take you out of truth, because people didn’t create you God did Gid is your sustainment, so to depart from him is like a kick in the faith, no one forces you to backslide, it is your choice.

    • @taliah02
      @taliah02 5 лет назад

      Short version, don’t misguide souls None of us are God. Leaving the truth to go be in false worship is easier because now you can allow yourself to sin and in the back of your minds, you know what your doing is wrong. Good things come to those who are willing to work hard for it. So if your not willing to sacrifice your sin for truth and salvation.. then the lake of fire will surely be ahead of you. People of God I’m no angel, I’m a 16 year old who knows what God has brought me through and what he has brought my family out of. Worshiping in trough isn’t just an experience, it’s a life dedicated to Serving God. So when people are crying out, there not putting in a show to entertain you, they couldn’t care less about you in that moment, they are expressing their joy and their thanks to the Lord by crying out

      If you feel that standing quietly and just trying to use your worldly mind to try and “interpret” scripture and not being in a church to hear the word of Hod by a God given pastor or preacher your saying “God I’m to good for this or God it doesn’t take all of that” so next time you want to claim that your praise is sufficient remember who gave you life, who gives you new grace every day, who allows you to wake up and still be able to speak, who forgives us every time we mess up, who laid his life down for us to be able to live under the grace period. Who manifested himself into flesh who stayed away from temptation and was belittled mocked and ridiculed, so that his word would be done in heaven and on earth who shed his blood for us. And all we have to do is choose to follow what he has in store for us, live holy, and if you stray away, he will accept you back, but soon grace will be done and judgment will come and there will be no time to ask for forgiveness or to want to be saved

First off, you don’t know her or what she has and secondly, you’re beating in the same ideology as the doctrine that causes distress to begin with. This whole “Oh you’re following the devil and I have met THOUSANDS like you” you’re so full of yourself. A righteous person doesn’t tell another person they don’t have that relationship and that they will forever be tormented. You’re self righteous and you need to stop attacking others, you clearly should stay within the walls of your own glass house.

      Oh shut up. I've been to church since I was a kid and had a "relationship" with God at a apostolic Pentecostal church. The Pentecostals are a cult that take advantage of folks and twist the scriptures, take it out of context or misunderstood it. You guys are always involved in lots of scandals and when called out on it, you claim to "don't touch the anointed". Also, there needs to be order in the church and not holy rolling, screaming, glossolalia, etc. I've seen people get punched in the face and hurt at the altar. All the well known preachers left the apostolic to start their own denominations. There's a lot to list but this is some of the few things that I saw and experience which justified leaving that cult.

  • @colonalklink14
    @colonalklink14 4 года назад

    You can only really have a relationship with God after you are born again. God is one Spirit being eternally present as three distinct centers of consciousness within God (hence the godhead of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). One being, one essence, one God(Jehovah)
    We are all born spiritually dead. We are all born in sin. James says that if you follow the whole law and offend in one point you are guilty of all. God says that all of our good deeds are as filthy rags before Him. We all are sinners totally deserving of eternal separation from the love of God in a place called Hell.
    God's standard is absolute perfection. Not even one sin is allowed to be in Heaven.
    That's the bad news.
    Now comes the greatest news.
    Jesus name means Jehovah Saviour. Jesus is the Son of God, also called the Son of Man (God Himself clothed in unfallen humanity, born of a Virgin, lived a perfectly sinless life, was crucified, shed His innocent blood, physically died, was buried, and physically rose from the dead).
    Thereby Jesus Christ paid for all the sins of all the world (past, present, and future).
    That payment is put to your account when you have believed on Christ alone for salvation.
    Jesus gets all the glory for saving anyone and as such He will not save anyone who is trusting partially in their good works and partially in Him.
    False gospel messages include : make a commitment, promise to follow Jesus, repent of your sins, surrender your will, make Jesus Lord and Master of your life, give your life to Christ, repent of your sins and give your life to Christ and get baptized in Jesus name, etc.
    To be sure these are all great things that already saved people should be doing. None of them can save anyone, much less contribute to saving anyone, or even prove your salvation.
    We are saved unto good Works, not by them, or kept by them, neither can they prove our salvation.
    The true gospel : admit that you are a hopelessly lost sinner and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before and trust Jesus Christ as your only hope of getting to Heaven. You are trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone. Period!
    Once you do that you are born again by the Spirit of God. You have a new Spirit living inside you who gently urges you to follow Jesus. You have immediately and irrevocably been made a child of God. You have Everlasting life.
    Salvation is an absolutely free gift.
    As God's child, you can choose to be obedient or not.
    If you choose to be obedient, then God will bless you in this life and you will store up for yourself treasures in Heaven.
    If you choose to be disobedient, then rest assured that God Himself will Chastise you in this life, you will have little to no rewards in Heaven, and you will be ashamed at the judgment seat of Christ.
    Your choice.
    John 3:16 promises eternal life to all who believe on Christ alone for salvation. That's eternal life, not temporary or probationary life dependent upon your performance.

      Rod1842 Only those who have left know that what you’re saying is unrealistic. It takes many, many years to “just leave it”. The doctrine is engrained in you and the mental struggle is real. You have to live it to understand it. My videos help those transitioning and talking about/updating year to year, shows those that have left that life does go on.

    • @Rod1842
      @Rod1842 4 года назад

      like I said, "If you keep talking about it, you haven't really left it." I beg to differ, it does not take many, many years to leave. If life does go on, then just go on. Leaving the UPC is no harder than leaving a Baptist, Methodist, nor any other Church. Your just distraught over something that happen to you, and this is your way of getting even. Usually those who feel that way try to get a circle of friends to feel the same way, which is evident by those who have commented. By your opening sentence to my comment proves that you are unrealistic. Do you really know how those who have left UPC feel, or are you putting everyone in the same boat with yourself. If you are, you make yourself no different than what you are trying to bash.

    Go to the wikipedia page of R.E. McAlister. He invented oneness pentecostalism in 1913. That heretic will send millions to hell because of his heretical "divine revelation" that he had about Acts 2:38. Faith is the only thing that saves. "Jesus and" is another gospel. It's not Jesus and baptism or Jesus and works or Jesus and anything else. Just the blood of Jesus was a sufficient payment for sin. The thief on the cross is proof.

      Ambz D thank you for watching and your comment! Yes I am involved in a great church & have found peace in my heart on the doctrine I am being taught. This church was an independent pentecostal church not affiliated with UPC in any way. They believed in different levels of heaven based off what you do here on earth and preached personal revelation over what is said in the Bible. It was just a very unfortunate situation with a twisted fundamentalist church. However, I know there are people there that get what they need and are doing what they feel is right to be closer to God. I cannot condemn anyone for that, as that is what I am doing now. I do miss it to a certain extent. I miss the sense of community and feeling like God was on my side. However, I do not miss the standards. The skirts were a burden, to put it bluntly. I still dress modestly in my opinion, but I’ve thrown away all of my jeans skirts. That phase of my life is over.
    I still enjoy your videos! Do you miss wearing skirts? Did the standards bother you? 😊💗

    • @ModestlyBeautiful

      Hi Deanna! Sometimes churches can distract us from the personal relationship with Jesus. It takes time but you will get to a place where you feel like God is on your side still & the right church will come along in His time. I do not miss wearing skirts everyday. I remember dreading getting ready for the day because I had to wear a skirt. I still find myself having a sigh of relief when I can go to my closet and grab a pair of jeans. I enjoy not having to worry about what rules I may be breaking by my skirt being too tight, too short, or my tops too flashy. The standards bothered me greatly because I was doing them out of the requirements for my position in the church. I despised my separation and I knew my attitude was not pleasing to God. I am grateful for where God has lead me now. I know without a doubt I am closer to Him than I've ever been before and am more sincere in my actions for Him. God Bless you and thank you for watching.
