Been listening to this song for over 40 years, it never gets old. Barry is one of the greatest singer song writers I’ve ever heard. Thank you for taking the time to teach us this wonderful classic song.
Happy New Year Mr James and Family! Amazing lesson, simple, and effective ! Wishing you and yours a heathy and successful 2023 ! Keep on Rocking ! Thank you for all your work and dedication here ! Culver City, Los Angeles
Thanks for the lesson! I think I got the chords: Intro D Dmaj7 Gmaj7 G/A Verse D F#m7 Em7 B7 Em7 F#7 G/A D F#m7 Bm7 Em7 G/A Pre-chorus Gmaj7 F#m7 Em7 C7/9 F#m7 G/A Chorus D Dmaj7 Gmaj7 Gm6/9 D C B7 Em7 Gm6/9
Thanks as always for your amazing lessons. It’s great to see you do The Bee Gees songs because so many didn’t seem to have guitar parts but you make them sound so wonderful on guitar.
my niece was playing this earlier and I thanked her for giving me a new project because somehow there's some chords that didn't sound right. Dude! you're the man! The way you simplify the chords and teaching fans chords you don't even know is pure genius. I can definitely relate, I play the same way and listening to the fine details of sound and chord progressions that somehow sounds weird but beautiful and don't even know what they are called. I'm definitely subscribing. Thanks! =)
There is a guitar part in How Deep Is Your Love. It's the quick hitting jazz chord stuff. Listen for the quick hits. It's back in the mix a bit, but it's there.
Oh my god your guitar sounds so wonderful. Absolutely amazin. Im shocked! Thank you for your lessons. Found your channel as I was investigating on slade cum on feel the noize and later on I saw your explanation on "too much heaven". You are a great guy. Thanks for your effort.
Super lesson sometimes it's fun figuring out songs that don't have a guitar if you want to put one in kind of like I did with Foreigners Tramontane from Double Vision which is pretty much heavily heavily synth driven with lead fills only and a instrumental but figuring the guitar up is pretty fun to match synth
That Cmaj during the chorus on "fools" sounds off. I think it sounds better with an Am6 or Am7. Just a suggestion otherwise everything sounds wonderful!
The chord on “fools” in the original is a Db6 in the key of Eb, but since this in D it’d be a C6. It sounds fine as C but it’s missing the A note, so it makes sense why you’d think it sounds better voiced as Am7.
John Frusciante played a cool version of this live with the Chili Peppers (John unaccompanied) in his Hendrix-style and it really works. Even the vocals which sound... not so great at first end up working in that context. Just a fun little song with a great progression that everyone knows.
The Bee Gees may have borrowed from Frampton, but Frampton borrowed from the intro to Willin' from Little Feat... Probably Lowell George borrowed from someone else before as well.
@@jamesjames9275 I actually founded🙏🙏 but it took me a while. I actually saw this video again, and in the end I you play the whole song.. I'm stupid. Thanks for everything JJ
You could do a C9 in the "G Shape" that is essentially the same chord, except it doesn't have the E String Fretted. The Chord would be E - 0 A - 3 D - 2 G - 3 B - 3 E - 0

Kool bro. You made it kinda simple
Great chord sequency...obviously.

Haha JJ you went full Justinguitar mode at that part (4:00 to 4:11) where you sang the chord names. Cracked me up a bit. 🤣

Gibson builds some great acoustic guitars.

The second chord is Dmaj7.
I’m not hating!! Good job!!!

grazie !!!!!!!!!
Sounds like Frampton’s Show Me The Way lol

Your beginning sounds a little bit like Show Me The Way, by Peter Frampton. :-)
The Bee Gees may have borrowed from Frampton, but Frampton borrowed from the intro to Willin' from Little Feat... Probably Lowell George borrowed from someone else before as well.
My error... the Frampton song that borrowed the intro from Willin' is "Baby I Love Your Way".
Mark My Word that's right!
Mark My Word Yep, they both go D to Dmaj7
The chord that you play after D is D6
D maj 7. A D6 would have the B string open.
Hey!, who's that on your t-shirt?
Noisy Bar In Avalon Looks like Martha Quinn from MTV
I was waiting the whole video for you play the whole song and you didn't arrgghhhhhh
And you didn’t bother to search for my demonstration video. Aaaarrrrrgh.
@@jamesjames9275 I actually founded🙏🙏 but it took me a while. I actually saw this video again, and in the end I you play the whole song.. I'm stupid. Thanks for everything JJ
Outstanding ears you have to pick this out!
The G over "A minor looking chord" is a G Maj 7
The open E makes it a G maj 13, if you play the open E (Hi E)
this fingering really nice fits the song.
I can play right up until the c9. I cant see how that chord is even possible lol. Is the an alternate chord that sounds as good? Great lesson james
You could do a C9 in the "G Shape" that is essentially the same chord, except it doesn't have the E String Fretted.
The Chord would be E - 0
A - 3
D - 2
G - 3
B - 3
E - 0
Is this Andys part?
Thanks for to talk a little before you play! Thanks
speak so much!!! just play. you make me dizzy. I could not see the full video because you talk a lot !!!
But the thing is, I don’t care what you want.
He needs his sip of coke
