Half these bands will never be forgotten; the other half we really never knew in the first place. It's too bad we didn't; they all looked very promising to me.
Great that you included singing groups with the garage bands in expressing what these acts meant to aspiring women, the whole point of giving them a category at all.
.....overlooked Reparata & The Delrons - "Captain of Your Ship", is an absolute late-60's GEM (and The Flirtations' COMPLETE catalog, is just GREAT.....)
Suzi Quartro opened the door for both The Runaways and Vixen, who should have been mentioned. She kind of got forgotten over time. Agree with your view of vocal female groups over actual musical ones.
Fanny played their own instruments, and I think Joan Jett did too, but it's notable that many of these girl groups were successful b/c of the songwriting of other people, like Gerry Coffin and Carole King
You left out the GTO's! They had an unforgettable song called "Circular Circulation." How could you have omitted them? They stand shoulder to shoulder with Fanny.
Girl Groups were not bands-they didn't play instruments and their bscking bands were generally male. Not saying they weren't great-just that they really don't qualify as bands.
Why is that distinction relevant? The human voice is the original "instrument", both for rhythm and melody, and it requires years of practice to refine. The product is the same...great pop music.
Liver Birds??? as in offal? it's pronounced Live=r as in live music, I know the place is Liverpool, but their biggest monument is the Liver Building as in Live (music) R
The Daughters of Eve from Chicago were a pioneering all female band. All the girl singing groups mentioned were fabulous, but they weren't musicians in an all female band. Hats off to all the ladies of rock-n-roll
There is a difference between bands and singing groups, and its pronounced Lie-verbirds not livverbirds lol, you completely omitted Girlschool, and Fanny were bigger in Europe than the US.
When I think of bands I think of instrument playing along with singing. I would not include The Supremes, The Shirelles, or Martha and the Vandellas and The Ronettes in this list.
No one has forgotten the top 5, this is a nonsense list, including groups of female singers that were backed my male musicians and groups that played all their own instruments.

FANNY and THE Supremes are not forgotten at all!
FANNY 🤘 rocks 💯. The Runaways were and still are 1 of my favorites. And long live Suzi Quatro
Half these bands will never be forgotten; the other half we really never knew in the first place. It's too bad we didn't; they all looked very promising to me.
You can hardly call the Supremes 'forgotten'.
Birtha. 2 brilliant hard rock albums in the early 70s. Like Fanny but more bluesy, almost Southern rock ish.
The Vandellas and the Ronettes. Are far from forgotten
Great that you included singing groups with the garage bands in expressing what these acts meant to aspiring women, the whole point of giving them a category at all.
For a fan of sixties music, these singers are not forgotten
Loved the Supremes. They sang great and they were beautiful ladies.
.....overlooked Reparata & The Delrons - "Captain of Your Ship", is an absolute late-60's GEM (and The Flirtations' COMPLETE catalog, is just GREAT.....)
Bowie loved Fanny
They were great
What about The Chiffons,the Shangr-Las,The Crystals,The Velvelettes,The Royalettes
Those were singing groups not bands
@@syrsknight

How can the Runaways be forgotten? Joan Jett, Lita Ford🤘❤
Yea, rite, I had forgotten about the Ronnettes. Duh!
Bertha , fanny And the?
Runways are my favorite all time girl bands
Thank you for the great job and superior explanation. I agree the #1 is The Ronettes even they did not play instruments.
Jian Jett and Leda Ford of The Runaways are still performing soli. Sandy West of the group died of cancer.
I saw the Runaways once at a club in Topanga Canyon, CA
Yeah, I saw them at The Frontier Auditorium in Pekin IL. 1976.
Michael Steele who was a member of the Runaways went on to join thr Bangles
I never heard of the Runettes. They sound a lot like the Ronettes.
Fanny! ❤
Missing Out on Isis the Band that grew out of Goldie an the Gingerbread is a great Flaw of this List.
A band plays instruments, the girl groups of singers only should not be on this list
What? Do you want to include the Go-Gos?
Hear hear
@Hillbilyou darn skippy ly001
Great job my dear. Ciao a tutti.
You left out the GTO's! They had an unforgettable song called "Circular Circulation." How could you have omitted them? They stand shoulder to shoulder with Fanny.
Wonderful indeed!
I'm pretty sure l can trace my hearing loss back to the Runaways concert in 1976.
Yeah, I saw them in Pekin IL the same year and they were LOUD!! Great show too.
So much hotness combined with immense talent.
Seriously, you can't not love them all.
Liver Birds??? as in offal? it's pronounced Live=r as in live music, I know the place is Liverpool, but their biggest monument is the Liver Building as in Live (music) R
The Luv'd Ones, another all female 1960s band from Michigan, should have been included on your list!
The Daughters of Eve from Chicago were a pioneering all female band.
All the girl singing groups mentioned were fabulous, but they weren't musicians in an all female band.
Hats off to all the ladies of rock-n-roll
I knew Fanny and the Runaways would be in this. Wasn't sure of the rest.
Liverbirds is pronounced Lie-ver-birds. And Fanny where never taken seriously here in the UK, for some reason.
THE LIVERBIRDS SINGER EVEN MOVES AN SOUNDS LIKE JOHN LENNON
Pretty girls!
Supremes were never a forgotten ban.
Runaways weren't a forgotten group.
Martha and the Vandela were a super group, too.
There is a difference between bands and singing groups, and its pronounced Lie-verbirds not livverbirds lol, you completely omitted Girlschool, and Fanny were bigger in Europe than the US.
Girlschool may have formed in 78, but they were more of an 80's band. Serious jams though.
When I think of bands I think of instrument playing along with singing. I would not include The Supremes, The Shirelles, or Martha and the Vandellas and The Ronettes in this list.
Where's Birtha?
It's pronounced, 'Lyver birds'..
Agreed
I wonder if The Pleasure Seekers got what they were seeking. 😄
A lot of these weren't bands or forgotten
Really..The Supremes are forgotten????
Not Liver- Lie ver birds!
Certain members of these bandswent on to have solo careers or formed other bands so that doesnt constitute as vanishing
The were not "Liverbirds". lt is pronounced LYver. EVERY Liverpool resident knows this basic fact
Girl groups - singers only - were great but not the same as a band, where instruments were played.
The Toys?"
I love the girl bands. Despite their talent it's always about feminine sexuality which is the axle on which everything turns.
👍
groups of female singers aren't really bands in my opinion. Bands play instruments. My favorite all female band is Klymaxx.
Guitars not "slung low"!
The Ronettes???? Forgotten???? It's a JOKE???????
You definitely mislabeled this video!!
These were g Super groups.
Forgotten?
Liver Birds - pronounced Lie-ver Birds
Except the chantels weren't a band but a "girl group"
Vadellas NOT A BAND. get your terms correct
Again not a band but a group
No one has forgotten the top 5, this is a nonsense list, including groups of female singers that were backed my male musicians and groups that played all their own instruments.
Ummm....aint forgot none of these....y'all think we're a bunch of backwards trash...
Forgotten because they didn't matter.
Supreme NOT A BAND
Ronetts NOT A BAND !!!!!!!!!!
Some were not Bands at all
Clout
About to mention them as well.
