I just don't know why lots of dealer do not order the LED light package for the 3 series. It's just $800 add-on package for the LED angle eye, but make a huge difference!
PHARAOH 4x thoughts? I have my eye on a 2013/14 328i x but it’s still a decent amount of cash ($17k with 45000 miles). Do you think it was worth it? How much did you get yours for?
I think these are the best combination of performance and economy. If I had to do it again I might have bought one of course the reliability is not the greatest I would imagine they're not that hard to work on. A 2015 with 90,000 miles goes for 11 Grand. My last two BMW is lasted 200,000 miles without much maintenance but after that they aren't worth enough to justify keeping them. If you want something newer a 2017 q50 with the 3 liter turbo can be had for under 17
One key statements from the reviewer that really hit the mark: "However with each generation the 3 seems to lose a little bit more of that super tight feel and feedback that we love so much". BMW I hope you are listening. This really says it all. I drove the new 2012 328, and it didn't feel like a BMW. For years carmakers tried to make their cars like the 328. Why are you now trying to make your cars feel like everyone else's? Please stop. If I want a boring car designed to appease the masses, then I will buy a Toyota. If I want a car designed to please a driving enthusiast, then I will buy a..... Well crap I guess I'm out of luck. Come on BMW. You are better than this. At least don't mess with the 3 series. Let the 1 series be for the masses, 3 for the enthusiasts.
matthew herrera plus my dad owns the f13 bmw m6 and my mom has the f12 bmw 6 series 640 xdrive convertible. Once again two entirely different cars. If you cant afford a m car and expect the "family" car to be enthusiastic then your stupid.
@Mike M and Matthew Herrera... you both are right. The 3-series has always been a family car, however it doesn't drive like a BMW anymore (unless you own/lease an M3... M3s doesn't have xDrive anyway) . I guess that the xDrive (all-wheel drive) has something to do with it. I had a 2013 BMW 128i, and it was a true BMW through and through. The steering was like the extension of my hand. Tight cornering and tight gripping of the road even at high speeds. It didn't have xDrive. Now, I have a 2015 BMW 335i xDrive, and it doesn't drive the same... too much body roll, and too much slack where steering is concerned. I think that if you stick with the traditional rear-wheel drive BMW, you won't go wrong, but if you go for xDrive, you are going to miss the true reason of owning a BMW. Once I am done with the 335, I am going back to the traditional rear-wheel drive Bimmer.
+matthew herrera so your calling someone stupid for wanting a car that handles well? I don't understand your logic, lmao of course your mommy and daddy own nice cars. Nice hair
This is the reason that after 5 years of owning a 2013 328i, I traded it in just this year on a 2011 335i. I wanted the hydraulic steering back that I hadn't felt since I owned a 2007 328i.
@sincere Yes, it's all new on the outside Anyway, I ordered a 2013 335i sedan with M sport package, black sapphire metallic with red leather. My 4th BMW 3 series but first brand new one. My 26th birthday present to myself. Soooo excited for this day. Work hard play hard :-)
It looks great but the real question is how it rides/handles. I drove an E46 330i and it was fantastic so hopefully this one builds on what made older models good.
the 3 is the best but i went for the Lexus IS in 2007 because of the shape and looks even though I respect the BMW i can't wait for my IS replacement coming next year. Love the bimmer but the Lexus feels right in every way.
I suppose that is why Cadillac's suspension was chosen by Ferrari and not the one used on the BMW. I suppose that is why Cadillac is LIGHT YEARS ahead of BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagon, and Porsche when it comes to technology. Quality? Cadillac is in the top 5 lately. Comfort? Cadillac is the ONLY luxury car maker, except for Rolls Royce, that uses leather on BOTH sides of the seats, the dashboard, and the door panels. On the XTS, premium Italian suede is used on the interior ceiling too.
Delphi, which was a subsidiary of General Motors, developed the magnetic suspension before becomming independant. Ferrari may have changed it around to their liking but, the FULL credit goes to Cadillac. German cars have NOTHING on G.M. when it comes to technology. Cadillac is ahead of them at this point and will remain to be in the future.
I am a GM guy, we've owned 4 GM vehicles, we still have two of them, but we've replaced the other two with two different BMW's and the difference is night and day. And as for your slave labor plea, give it up. You can't hold an entire company for what happened long ago during a war. I'm sure that is a chapter in that company's history that they wish they could have changed.
The ONLY other car with that feature is the Rolls Royce. It IS a selling point. Along with the fact that Cadillac is the most technologically advanced car ever produced at ANY price.
EVERY historian has indicated that the first automobile was from France in 1799. That was LONG before Mercedes. In 1860 Étienne Lenoir used an electric spark plug in his first internal combustion engine and is generally credited with the invention of the spark plug. Americans HATE smelly, noisy diesel engines. Historians seem not certain who invented four wheel drive for cars. John Hedrick, USA, U.S. Patent No. 2,649,311 for the airbag in 1948.
The current ESP system on my Cadillac is a waste of money and is VERY discerning for the driver. I don't want my car making corrections at the same time I am making corrections. It is confusing.
ok, so are u saying bmw is the only company that does that? audi is starting to do that, hyundai is now doing that, honda is getting a start on that, merc is about to lauch the new gl which looks alot like the m but bigger, so....... i dont see the problem.
I know.My mistake.Of course 100mph=over 160km/h. But I can go on our higways with this speed.I have movie on my channel where I was driving behind BMW and I went 208 km/h without consequences. Of course if Police measure my speed I'll get a ticket and points(after 24 points everybody must pass driving license examine again). But 100 mph I can go without problems.
Automotive companies borrow and adapt technology from each other all the time. I bet you're getting that Ferrari stat. from the commercial. GM developed that in 2002 but never really utilized it, Ferrari however refined that technology. And as for Cadillac being light years beyond the German automakers is a complete fallacy. Take a look at the S class or 7 series from ten years ago, most of that tech is just entering GM vehicles now.
Cadrolls, you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. I would go on and on to explain the flaws to your argument but I won't waste my time. I will say this however, the quality, the ride, the technology, the research and development that goes into all BMW's triumphs over many automotive companies: Cadillac and Buick included.
Germany invented aluminum? How is that possible? It is a naturally occurring substance. Because of the work of Charles Martin Hall in 1885, a process for refining the metal inexpensively from ore made it more readily available. Hall was American. The first steam powered motorcycle, the Michaux-Perreaux steam velocipede, can be traced to 1867. ESP is for incompetant drivers. Mine is useless on my car. I am quicker than it is.
those bmw dissipointed me those cars all lock the same 3.5.7 series just the size its diferent and if i want too buy a 7 series i wold like a lot more then the 3 and 5 series not only in gadgets but in styling too like it was in the previuos generation
In my country-Poland- I can legal go with 100mph speed on higway(140km/h). But many people go faster 110 mph,120mph,sometimes 130mph. Police on the highway almost never see.Sometimes they patrol on unmarked cars with radar and videorecorders.I was doing 300 or 600 kilometres by a week on the highway with 100-130 mph speed and police never stopped me.Americans do not buy this cars-they are not for you.
U.S. is not a free country,so citizens do not need car with this possibilities. My friend was in US and said:"Unbelievable. They buy car for example Audi R8,Lamborghini or Ferrari which can go 250 or 300 Km/h and they never try out all the possibilities of this car" Maybe on racetrack 3 times in all life." Americans need car which can go 75 mph max speed only.
Buick happens to be the best selling import in China right now from the USA. The Chinese LOVE them. I do too. Buick is a WORLD CLASS automobile now. Wake up.
I live in San Francisco and everyone drives a bimmer. Annoying as fuck. I'm actually considering getting an S5 now instead of a 335xi or m235i. If only BMW would step up it's fucking interiors.
German cars are over-priced. They cost more to purchase, insure, and up to 4 times MORE to repair too. The average BMW owner will pay $2,900.00/year to be insured compared to the $1,200.00/year that is charged to the typical Cadillac owner. For a car that came from a company that used slave labor during the war? NOT IN MY DRIVEWAY!
Not at all. I'm on my 9th. Cadillac, live in a 23 room house, and could buy a BMW if I were stupid. BMWs are over priced both to purchase, insure and up to 4 times more to repair. BMWs are too plastic compared to the all leather interiors of GM's cars. Verano REEKS of quality and maybe that is why they're America's number one auto export to China. Buick owners would pay $1,200.00/year to insure their cars compared to $2,900.00/year for a BMW. When better cars are built, BUICK will build them.
BMW car's are only for european citizens which can drive fast on europeans highways. Why americans buy this cars? To drive 55 or 70mph all the life? "We are americans, all in our country is the best and the biggest in the world,we have best cars in the world, best roads in the world etc." This is not the car for you.In Europe you can move on with a screech of tires(in U.S. ticket from police officer for rapid acceleration),you can legal drive 100mph on highway(in U.S. ticket for speeding).
I just laugh at all the brainwashed Bimmer 3-Series freaks who talk themselves into "loving" each new 3 series model when they have been getting blander and blander both in exterior design and ESPECIALLY the interiors since after the E46 edition. I mean, seriously, my 2002 Acura CL coupe has a far sportier interior than this boring car. And don't get me started on the dead, lifeless steering and lack of a non-turbo engine. And I USED to be a huge Bimmer fan and have owned a 1980 320is, and 1987 325is so I'm not a hater. Just being honest. About the ONLY thing you can say positively about the past two 3-Series generations is that BMW has not ditched the manual transmission. Yet.
Blander is not a word. The 3 series has yet to be taken from the top of the mountain. Have you seen 1 review of any car taking down the mighty 3 ?? Todays 328 is just as fast as the old 335. It has more legroom more usable space and does the same numbers on the track. Making a car that feels like it has bricks for suspension gives you confidence on the AUTOBAHN but on the 5 mile city commute it feels like riding a horse. Mine gets 25mpg everywhere and does 0-60 in 5.5 all day. Nothing about a accord coupe CL is sporty and I own an RLX as well.
Please! You're going to correct my use of "blander" when you have incredibly poor punctuation skills? lol (2 exclamation marks are to be used at the END of a sentence, not after a word for emphasis in the middle of a sentence, but I digress...) Not only is each new version of the 3 series since the E46 about as exciting as watching paint dry, you obviously have no idea what an enthusiast car's mission is. "More legroom and usable space, and same numbers" Are you KIDDING me?? It's about the FEEL of the road in the steering, the way it dives in to corners with 150% confidence (E30 series) and that old, smooth, turbine-like (non-turbo) straight six wailing away as you race (and beat) an Audi A4 on Highway 17 as you leave Santa Cruz to re-enter the valley in San Jose. I know about this - I used to own a mint condition 1987 325is. What you're talking about is straight from Consumer Reports and has NOTHING to do with the passion of driving a sports car. And by the way, I said I have an ACURA, not a Honda Accord. And not that it matters, but with the exception of your reply, all I have gotten on my post has been +1's agreeing with my comments.
1970borntorun LMAO Im sorry I didn't realize CONSUMER REPORTS was recognized as an authority in automotive journalism. Don't they also review panty hose and toasters ?? Why don't you ask REAL consumer. (WHAT A CONCEPT). You can have your opinions its a free country but don't expect to spew crap on a car you have never driven and not get a response. Any car maker that wants to compete in the compact sports sedan segment will have to 1st research and develop with the 3 as its benchmark. You got to be kidding me with the 80s driving experience crap. Drive a 2014 3 series and its closest competitor which allegedly is a Cadillac ATS. (NO COMPAIRISON) I had an 80s 320i which I sold to my cousin. Its about as dynamic as todays dodge dart and just about as fast. That straight 6 was heavy and plowed like todays Audi. Its no where as near linear as todays lightweight 4 banger. you can brake later turn in later and still not spill your coffee on the way to work like the old ones would. the old straight six sucked down fuel like no tomorrow at 15-18 mpg. you want a sports car buy a M car. todays budget friendly 328 is faster on a track and a straight line then the 80s and 90s M cars. I don't give personal opinions. I give facts backed up by actual owners and real pen to paper numbers.. Also an Acura CL is an accord coupe.
1970borntorun You still whining about the 3 being softer?? It is softer Its designed in California by its largest market for its largest market. Those old BMW tanks were great against 85 Oldsmobile's, Chevy Corsicas and Toyota Cressidas. They were just flat out from another planet compared to what America and Japan was putting out. Don't let there legend fool you by todays standards its no better than todays 2014 scion TC. Mines had 123hp if you had a 325 you had 168hp tops. The company doesn't make Niche market yuppie mobiles anymore. The new 3 is $35,000 fairly equipped. Its the slightly exotic German answer to compete in the American market with soccer mom middle class Japanese sedans. The 235i and 435i have taken the 3s torch.
I just don't know why lots of dealer do not order the LED light package for the 3 series. It's just $800 add-on package for the LED angle eye, but make a huge difference!
+CYSongMC They offer the LED's on the 2015 model 330i (rename). They reviewed a 12' model.
For anyone wondering, they recaliberated the electric power steering for 13' models and on. Feels alot more like a BMW.
especially vss : )
I now 22 and its the best earlier bday gift I ever got my self
I swear one day I will have this car when I’m older........
Trust me its gonna happened I’m 19 and now I have a bmw 2013 5 series everything is possible🙏
Adrian cordero I’m 19 too just bought my 2013 3 series
PHARAOH 4x thoughts? I have my eye on a 2013/14 328i x but it’s still a decent amount of cash ($17k with 45000 miles). Do you think it was worth it? How much did you get yours for?
GamingAndMore that’s a bad deal man. You can get a 2018 car for that price. It’s not worth it
@@GamingAndMore ya that’s no good. I’m getting a 2015 bmw 328d w/ 26k miles for $13.5k!
Old fashion way of doing reviews. Loving it. Subscribed!
Yes John is a great host and narrator for the road tests
I think these are the best combination of performance and economy. If I had to do it again I might have bought one of course the reliability is not the greatest I would imagine they're not that hard to work on. A 2015 with 90,000 miles goes for 11 Grand. My last two BMW is lasted 200,000 miles without much maintenance but after that they aren't worth enough to justify keeping them.
If you want something newer a 2017 q50 with the 3 liter turbo can be had for under 17
Looks really good. From what I've read and seen of reviewa it also rides as good or better than ever.
I love motorweek. So informative.
Yes and I love John for his great narration for these road tests
4 cylinder economy with luxury and sport in mind. It sounds like the perfect package! I would take that over the 335i for smart and frugal reasons.
One key statements from the reviewer that really hit the mark:
"However with each generation the 3 seems to lose a little bit more of that super tight feel and feedback that we love so much".
If you cant afford a m car and expect the "family" car to be enthusiastic then your stupid.
matthew herrera ** commuter, work, or even family car if they wanted to. Even back then...

Yes, it's all new on the outside

It looks great but the real question is how it rides/handles. I drove an E46 330i and it was fantastic so hopefully this one builds on what made older models good.
FANTASTIC!!!
the 3 is the best but i went for the Lexus IS in 2007 because of the shape and looks even though I respect the BMW i can't wait for my IS replacement coming next year. Love the bimmer but the Lexus feels right in every way.
Thanks for the explanation.
Still better than the a4 design...
do the angle eyes come w the car or are they added on?
Madison Liebman "light package"
What was the price as tested?

When is the 4cyl/8spdAuto going to be an option on the One Series? That would be a nice combo to have!!

the best cars in the world!!
you'd be wrong. the worlds fastest speeding ticket was made in america.

Ooh leather on both sides of the seats, oh my god wow, what a selling point for Crapillac.

Didn't know that Cheech Marin was doing car reviews as well
17 cubic feet? So that trunk's bigger than an S-Class's?

I hate turbo's (downsizing!!!)
made in germany!
and the United States is the only country where this is true?
don't really like the new dash, its honda-ish

Feel free to write back when you have something intelligent to say! LOL
