hey - you seem to know how it works, and some of your antics are entertaining, but honestly you were just confusing me and distracting me while trying to figure this out and i haven't been able to make it work.
My app doesn’t even ask for an email or password, it just opens and keeps “connecting”, no matter how many times you try to reset or uninstall/reinstall it

Helpful video! Quick question, how do you make them ALL connect to do the same thing. I seem to be running into an issue where only two of the lights link up. Any suggestions? Thanks - newbie here.
The lights talk to each other. You connect to one over Wifi and it tells the others (maybe using an infra Red connection?)
Check the channel that each is set to. If you set them all the same they can all be addressed at once (although there is a second’s delay)

I'm only able to control one of my two lights randomly. What is the channel settings for?
The channel feature in the app is pointless. Ideally you would be able to select the individual lights via channel, but when you select the other channels it actually just changes the channel of the selected light, haha.

Which model GVM light do you have?
See if there is a WIFI reset button on the back of the light, try pressing and holding that for a few seconds, and see if it shows up on your phone's wifi. If there isnt a WIFI reset button on the back yours probably isnt a wifi usable light. I have the 480LS which is wifi capable, but I also have the 520 that isnt.
@@LegacyStudio hm... this will be the problem obviously. there is no wifi button on the LED which was also strange to me at first. but I have the model 480LS, so it should be wifi capable... or is there two different 480LS models?

I am having so Many issues with the app not connecting to the light
How do you connect multiple lights?
I've just purchased four of these and I would say that the quality of the connection is finicky at best. Sometimes it will allow me to adjust the light parameters but not allow me to turn the light off.
It seems most folks would suggest the wifi function is only good for one light. I would buy a remote control that is much more trustworthy for the lights than the wifi.

Shutterlab Creative I was looking around on amazon to see if I could find one and I’m not turning up anything... I know a few remotes that are different brands can run several different lights because they are all built by the same company just have different logos on them... I have some switti lights that has a remote that works with my pexel light. So I’ll see if I can mess around and see if one of those controllers works and let you know

I have a set of two 800D-RGB lights with WiFi buttons. I've tried several times but it still won't connect. The app have slight different menu options and doesn't behave the way yours does, so I'm guessing it's changed a bit with a recent update. For instance, when I click "switch Wifi, I get "Tips - Please go to Settings -WLAN to open". I can only assume this means go to my Wifi settings, but it doesn't pop up directly like yours does. I can select GVM_LED in Wi-Fi settings, but when I go back to Modify WiFi and try to change it, nothing happens. Switch Device doesn't give me the selection popup, it just toggles between the RGB Hue screen and the scree with the two white knobs. On both it says "connecting" with a spinning wheel, but it just spins and spins. The light itself is in fact in WiFi mode and it and the app are set to Channel 1, but I still can't control it. Holding the WiFi reset button on the light only changed it to the next mode, it doesn't seem to reset anything. The instructions aren't much more useful. In fact, they misspell the name of their own app "GVM Eeasily"
I agree, it isnt the most user-friendly system for more than one light unfortunately. I struggled to even find the app in the appstore. It's got a few flaws that they definitely need to work out. I only have the one light so I personally have not bumped into the issues everyone is having utilizing more than one.

Guys I know the answer. You have to have ONE light on at a time --- and then "Modify Wifi" on the app. Use a DIFFERENT NAME & PASSWORD (ANY CHOICE, MAKE IT UP). And then that one light is on THAT name. Now repeat for your other light. Whenever you want to control a certain light "SWITCH WIFI" to that name you created. If want to control other light, switch wifi again to the other name you created. EVERY LIGHT HAS ITS OWN WIFI NETWORK if you do this way. Otherwise by default it only controls one light under the default network name (gvm_led). I cant figure out how to use Channels. But at least I can control multiple lights now, one at a time.
The fact that it asks for storage permissions sketches me out.
Is it possible to connect to this wifi/app through a MacBook pro? Or are the lights only compatible with phones?

I recently bought the GVM 50rs RGB light and it works with the app, however if you leave it for a few minutes and come back to change the settings, it doesn't work. It completely loses connection (although my phone is still connected to the GVM wifi, but the light becomes unresponsive) and you have to close the app, log out of the wifi, turn the light off and then turn the light back on, log into the wifi and connect the app again. Why is this, what am I doing wrong?
I don’t think it’s you unless the app is jumping in between your WiFi and it. Which I doubt. Honestly I don’t use the app anymore with this light and I use it for my B roll table at a night where I can adjust it right there in front of me easier than if I tried to utilize the app. Still great lights but I’m agreeing with everyone that they need to get their act together on the app.

Do you know how to control more than one light with the app?
You can control more than one light with the app, but it’s not intuitive. If you set one light to WiFi mode it will serve as a Master to the others by you setting the channel in the app. You need to set the second light, in Slave mode on Ch2, for example, by setting the app to Ch2, setting the Master in the app, and BOTH will change. Then switch to Ch0, adjust the master, and the Slave won’t change.

Maybe someone here can help me...I just purchased a 50RS and got the app to connect ONCE. Now no matter what I do, it just cycles through 'connecting'. Is there a trick or something I'm missing? I've reset wifi. The main reason I bought this was for the RGB color and I'd hate to have wasted $400
Nevermind! I figured it out...you can't use newer phones. The app will only reliably connect on older models.

Why should all of us have the same password ? Chinese products are not trustworthy anymore. And the app keeps asking me for permission for my files. Whhhhy??
I tried it with an Android, and it never said the device was connected.
I tried it with an iPhone and it said the device was connected.
However, using both Android and iPhone when I went to search for the Wi-Fi gmv_led, it was not there.
I have three of the 480 LS lights oh, but I could not get either one to connect and use the remote app.

So, check and see if there is a WIFI reset on the back of the light, apparently there are some 480s that dont have the WIFI function. NOT good for the company. If that is the case I personally would contact them and complain. Not really fair to use the same product info and not have the WIFI function. Otherwise honestly im not sure, you seem quite tech savvy so I would assume you've already covered all the bases I would have.
Am I The only that can no longer open this app ? it use to work and now won't even open it crashes as soon as I click on it

That seems to be the case, on the left side of the app it seems like they have “channels” but I’m clueless how you would set a channel on the light itself, not to mention you need to connect to a WiFi, so if they all use the same WiFi name, you’d have to connect to each WiFi independently to make it work. Definitely a bit of a flaw in the system. But if your just using one like I do, it’s pretty excellent. I wish I had 4 lights. But I admit switching WiFi each time to work on each individual light would begin to annoy me at some point.

I dnt think it's possible to work more than one light at a time...they'll have to make some adjustments.
Tim Lee, thanks for this video, it did help me to connect. However, as you know, not the perfect WiFi system. I got a lot of cool RGB LED lights for the money. Good news is right now I have one light on the WiFi setting and the other two set as slaves, all on channel one and for the first time I am controlling the master with an iphone and the two slaves are following. GVM says the other two lights are connected by infrared. Eureka! Problem is, not sure how to repeat it yet reliably in the field without the high possibility of embarrassing myself since it has been so hit and miss hooking it up. At least we know it's possible though. In the meantime: Manually without the WIFI they work great by setting one as a master and the other two as slaves. Since now all three are working fine together in my living room via my phone, I just don't want to turn them off! Again, thank you for the informative video, it was fun too.

It only operates my one light.
You've probably figured this out by now. However, set one light to slave mode. Place both lights on the same channel. And, it works like a charm. That is, both lights are adjusted at the same time.

but the app should not be this hard to get to work. If the only way I can control my RBG is through the app why is not more user friendly. They have updated this app since you made this video. It no longer is demanding an email address to connect.

Crappy app! after inputing my email and your password, the letters/numbers wouldn't go away, therefore hiding the log in. This is BS!

You may have the model that doesnt have WIFI in it. Check the back of it and see if it has a WIFI reset button. If it isnt there then you got one without it. :/

Ok, reality check, this app and these lights are garbage. First the app is almost impossible to connect. You have to play with it forever to get it to work well. Then, it does NOT remain connected. The app says Connected, but you'll discover you have to force-quit it often to reconnect it if you turn off the lights. Then the sliders are ridiculous. Brightness. 0% to 1% is in reality 0% to 75%. Same with saturation. The hue wheel just hard jumps to different shades. The fixture's construction is cheap as heck. Seriously, these are toys. Invest in better products if you're even half serious about your work.
