I really appreciate the fact that you guys gave a definition first ..I've come across so many guys who branded themselves anti feminists ..But they weren't against feminism at all ..In fact they were against women who are taking advantage of feminism who were just complaining (just like the girl you played in the beginning of the video who smokes ) and i referred to them as "fake feminists" ..nothing is empowering about those women ..So i've explained without getting defensive to those friends. And it's about gender equality (if providing opportunity to women is equality then obviously letting and giving a space to let guys cry is also equality ) so this applies to men as well.....KUDOS TO YOUR EFFORTS GUYS👏👏

I don’t smoke but I thought I would give girls’ perspective. I have met some women who smoke and this is what I understood.
Why do you think men smoke? It’s a coping mechanism at the end of the day and most men unfortunately get addicted to the habit of smoking.
Women too smoke just to cope with everyday life. I am surprised that society think women smoke because they want to take a jab at men and “show it off” to society that she too can smoke.
But that’s not the reality. Most women don’t care what society thinks about them smoking or drinking. Women who smoke and drink already come from a well off background. Their parents are liberal and even the parents have habits like casual drinking so the girls who come from these backgrounds don’t think of it as an abnormal lifestyle.
And if at all anyone questions, it’s never like “why do you smoke it’s bad for your lungs”, instead it’s “you are a women and you smoke?”. These people who advice then proceed to talk how it can affect women’s fertility and reproductive health. They don’t care about women’s overall health. They are only concerned how it might affect this non-existent baby.
Men smoking is normalised and promoted heavily in media across the world. No one makes dedicated videos like this about men’s addiction to dr*gs, alcohol or smoking.
Which is why they go off and yell “I can smoke because men smoke too”. I don’t think it’s pseudo feminism. Women are frustrated and they take it out using smoking and drinking.
Is it bad? Absolutely. But remember we live in the same state where government themselves sell alcohol. Wondering who we should blame first. Government that promotes alcohol (TASMAC) and a media that glorifies smoking or the society that’s addicted to it.

No it is not a coping mechanism of some sort for all , all who drink/smoke are not highly stressed or doing extreme jobs like garbage picking or manual scavenging!!!
Teens/ young adults start these habits as a form of rebellion against strict practices or social norms or simply for the kick of it. And later it becomes a habit/addictive due to neurological responses.. both men and women in their young age start it as this only...work place / clg casual drinking smoking leads to later addiction for some or many.
But agreeing to making it a gender specific stigma like "" ponna irrundhu smoke panlama or jeans pant pota kozhandha porakadhu" getting into their personal freedom is often not okay. Women smoke or drink coz they want to do it not coz they are competing with men..so they should not use phrases like that tbh..that just excuse...men abusing drugs /alcohol is a widely spoken topic please be aware of it before commenting on it.
Smoking/drinking is morally/ethically not wrong...its personal choice you don't blame the government or the media for it..but only the individual who acts upon it.
