Great video! Really enjoyed watching this. +PTGRail The ETS is Electric Train System, its only used on Passenger Services to provide electrical systems and heating/air conditioning to the carriages. Also powers the Driving Van Trailer (DVT) when one is connected up.
Neil Warman I was near Shoreham this weekend, I know the area well. Indeed it's not far from here :) I'm glad you enjoyed this video. Thanks for your comment as always Neil :)
Blimey, I thought you had just cut the screen so we can't see the HUD.. Didn't realise you don't actually use the HUD! I use the shortened HUD and control the train using the keyboard.. You must be an expert to play without a HUD.. Respect!
Joe Loughlin Haha! No, when I started this channel I always had the policy of not using the HUD in any of my videos. It's a whole new driving experience.. more interesting for me and the viewers I think :) I don't think I'm an expert.. I just practice a lot before recording a journey! xD Thanks for your comment :)
Really enjoyed this, the run made a nice change and I found your 'Q&A' both interesting and insightful. I 100% agree with your views on the discrepancies between different DLCs, I think we have a right to expect a certain minimum standard as they do market it as a Train SIMULATOR after all. Over TEN years ago I could do everything from switching the exterior lights on, programming a complicated flight computer and managing everything from battery supply to what fuel tank I used in Flight Simulator, yet over a decade later, we're supposed to be grateful that we have a cab light we can use in TS! DTG have been too lazy for far too long and have just stopped development because there has been no real competition, sad.
simonmd2000 Thank you! :) I totally agree, I don't understand why the DLCs are so inconsistent. For example the Class 465 has the DSD simulated, the Class 365 doesn't yet the 365 came out more recently than the 465. AP seem to be able to produce high quality trains, so I don't understand why the makers of the game often release such poor quality trains.
Great video. Just started to play Train Simulator with a degree of seriousness. This video didn't just gave more info on who you are, but also on how to play the game. For instance it wasn't clear to me how to plan brake distances and such without using the hud (which seems a bit like cheating to me). Now I know it's a question of route familiarity. Good old manual knowledge gathering. In which case the hud is like riding along with an experienced engineer. Planning to watch a lot of your route learning video's. And on a side note: yes Scotland is a beautiful place! :-)
Thanks! I'm glad that you enjoyed this video and it's helped you out with your own Train Simulator experience. The HUD is really a training aid, and once you've learned a route with it on, it's time to turn it off to get the most realistic and immersive driving experience. I hope you enjoy my other videos! :)
The route that went up to a port sounds like the Lübeck to Puttgarden or Hamburg to Puttgarden. (Volgflugtline) around 5-6 trains a day go onto the ferry and get sailed to Denmark and carry on to Copenhagen (I live on the Danish part of the line) Its cool seeing ICE-TD trains going onto ferry.
Jegerpizza I remember Lubeck to Puttgarden. I think I was mixing up two different routes as the one I was thinking of at the time was Pro Train 13, Hamburg to Westerland. I'd love to see all of the old Pro Train routes remade for Train Simulator! :)
Both routes are being made for TS, but i have no clue how they are coming along take a look here: shop.strato.de/epages/64554512.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/64554512/Categories/Category1/Die_Vogelfluglinie_von_Luebeck_nach_Puttgarden
awesome vid pete as always! thanks for answering my questions :D I might be getting work experience for Virgin east coast at kings cross behind the scenes. I'm really nervous about ringing the guy up but if I get the placement I might make a little daily vlog everyday if I'm allowed showing people a bit behind the scenes! but again great video.
PTGRail unfortunately i didnt get it which really pissed me off as his tone of voice was telling me that he didnt want any work experience so i donno what im gonna do :(
A thoroughly enjoyed video! Nice to see a good variation of videos coming from you. Do you have any plans, when your channel grows, of making another one of these videos?
Great video and fab choice of both loco and journey. I'm like you, I often find that I'm slightly disappointing when we reach our destination, that the journey on the train is the most interesting part, even if it's along a route I travel on regularly. The physics is an issue in the sim isn't it? The big US freight trains just feel heavy enough, which say you get with the class 90 and in some ways the class 70. Thanks for answering my questions as well, it's great to hear more about you and your plans for the channel.
William Mankelow Thanks William :) .. Apologies for not getting a Skype chat with you yet.. I completely forgot at the time and only remembered more recently! I'm terrible for communication sometimes so for that I apologise. I'm glad you enjoyed this video :)
Moleman978 Haha, never mind. I'll answer that one here :) I have considered doing a Twitch stream and I would like to do it. I'm just not sure how to set everything up at the minute. I also need to make sure I can find a time when I'm free and people are likely to want to watch.. and then I need to find a route I'm absolutely confident with! Possibly London to Brighton :p So yes it's on the cards, I'm just not sure when yet :)
The electric train supply is used for the lights, air con excetra, hope that helps. As you can hear the engine changes tone because the ets is using the engines for power.
Can you imagine how difficult the descent from Shap must be in winter (or British Summer!) with ice on the track and a huge freight load behind the loco - respect to the drivers over the years.
+OMG Train Also I have actually started a series of POV for the entire DLR network. So you could use that footage if required. Or do some sort of collaboration, as I have some filming equipment.
Edwardzzzz9 Awesome! I did jumble up my words a few times.. the problem of improvising and thinking on the spot lol xD I hope you enjoy it... thanks! :)
I'm glad you mentioned the lack of coverage in Wales. I've been trying in vain to find a video of the north coast route which I got to take a few years ago on the way to Ireland and really enjoyed. Any chance we'll see some coverage of routes in France? Would love to see a Eurostar or Thalys run. Didn't know if there's just not enough good scenery/trains available or if you just don't like the place. ;)
Indeed, we really do need more Welsh routes, and the North Wales Coast route is one I'm very keen to see in Train Simulator! As for France, I do plan on making a video in the TGV Duplex between Marseille and Avignon very soon. I'm happy to make videos in every country represented in the game. :p
slam door trains was great i remember coming into platform open doors and jump off y the train was still coming into station as u jumped of u would have to try and match the trains speed or you would fall flat n ur face lol stuff we did as teens
What countries haven't you done many, or any routes for that you would do. if you could list a top 5, what countries rail system would you like to traverse and do virtual routes for?????
On reply to your Scenario words, I think the best way to do them is one a group on Facebook. So let's say that you make a group on Facebook called PTGRail you could then upload them to that
Harry Lewis - ExeCraft Good question.. and I didn't address it in the Q&A. The answer is yes, as long as it's not on a journey that I have already covered :)
Great video, enjoyed it... only one comment, you should definitely reconsider your choice of gpu for your replacement machine. In my opinion nvidia is the way to go for a gaming rig. There are some concerns over AMD drivers in the future and I believe generally nvidia cards run quieter.
John Warren I've always used AMD graphics cards with no problem, though I know that Nvidia are faster AMD have always been better value for money. What are the concerns about AMD drivers? And what card would you recommend? :)
Something I would love to see is the UK Signalling. If you need any help, contact me. I'm a bit of a signalling nut, but the HS1 signalling is a tad confusing to me! I understand its in cab, but would love to have your knowledge on it.
Edwardzzzz9 I understand UK signalling for the most part. Though I'm still slightly confused by the rules of approach controlled signals. The TVM430 system is a lot easier to understand than you may think! :) I'm wondering whether or not to put the main signals, radio signalling and TVM 430 into the same tutorial or make them all as separate tutorials.
Daniel Gregory At the start there was a sound problem. But after leaving Carlisle it seemed to sort itself out. The sound becomes a lot clearer. No I haven't yet got a new mic as I've had quite a few expenses to pay out for this last month, but I am certainly planning on getting one soon :)
+Mr Dreamliner I do have Dropbox, but I don't want to have to permanently leave scenarios uploaded on there. And as soon as I release .rwp files on Dropbox I'm pretty sure I will get an onslaught of comments asking me how to install it or telling me about some technical problem. I just don't have the time to do technical support! Lol XD
Etho Smith I don't play MSTS any more and I'm not sure that I could get back into it just because it looks so dated now and it's even less realistic than Train Simulator 2015.
Tides Gate From what I can see, it's mainly focused on the US? If so, Train Simulator 2015 is the best for simulating other countries outside of the US I think.
PTGRail Yes it is the U.S. only. I see what you mean about TS 2015 being the best for other countries. Run8 is just by far the best for real railroad operations, physics, locomotive operating etc. All while being multiplayer.
A great and easy to use website builder could be wix.com which does allow you to create your own shop as well. If you are unsure on how much to sell your scenarios for then you could always have a look at the current market I.e. Steam or any other site that requires you to pay for scenarios. If you would like any more help with any of the above then don't hesitate to send a message back and I will be glad to help you out.
+Marshell George (The Growl) It's not me who wants him to sell his scenarios as he asked how he could do it and at what price as he was unsure. Please be reassured that I am not trying to force him to sell anything that he owns as he has the rights and not me.
But seriously, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to give these scenarios away for money, like AP, or DP Sim. Enhancements are basically annoying when I see them on a price tag, but scenarios are taking the biscuit.
if you don't think your entertaining enough just look at all the followers you've got that should be your answer if you wasn't entertaining I wouldn't be watching you or listening to you so I hope you do make some of your owngames up I look forward to seeing you make some games
+Keith Creasey Thanks for the comment! I've always struggled with confidence in myself, and I guess seeing so many people subscribe to this channel should be an indication of how much people like what I do :) I'm still looking in to what other games I may be able to cover in the future.
+PTGRail Well a bit late, but some idea on publishing it, if you're amenable to publishing them as freeware. If you feel like that you could publish it at: - Uktrainsim.com, which is a big fansite focused on british Railways of all eras, they also have a massive selection of routes and scenarios. The con is that free users have to wait for spots in the download queue and only get 5 Kilobyte a second downloads. Has it's own forum. -trainsim.com which is a site similar to uktrainsim, though with a more US focus, a similar account system, but free users get a more reasonable 100 kb/s download rate. Also has a forum. -Dpsimulation.com , run by Darren Porter, is a freeware site financed by donations, and they suplly a lot of repaints, key assets and a few scenariopacks and scenarios, no accounts and all users get a decent fast downloads. -Railworksrepaints.co.uk a site for free reskins, which also do have a few scenarios, might be worth a shot. They are completely free, but you'll need an account to download, and those downloads are fast. Those sites are focused on the British community, if you'll need a place to publish german or Austrian scenarios, rail-sim.de, railsimulator.net and Railworks-Austria are a good place to do that. As for selling them, you could get into contact with RockRailScenarios, or ask AP if they'll want to publish yours. Or you could ask Aerosoft, or Just Trains. There is also the site Trainsanddrivers, who sell UK, US and german scenarios, might be worth a shot.
if you still don't know how much to charge for your game so a businesses course I did one quite a few years ago you will have to find out where the courses are held I hope that has helped you
Also I have another request. If there are any scenarios where you drive in the city of Chicago, than could you try to do it? It would be cool because I live there. By the way nice video.
FamilyAccount Mattson Unfortunately at present there are no routes in Chicago in Train Simulator. If any come out in the future then I will be sure to cover them :)
Great video! Really enjoyed watching this.
+PTGRail The ETS is Electric Train System, its only used on Passenger Services to provide electrical systems and heating/air conditioning to the carriages. Also powers the Driving Van Trailer (DVT) when one is connected up.
Aviation/Rail Videography by gregster295 Thank you! :) And I understand what the ETS is now, and realise that I didn't need to switch it on lol xD
+PTGRail I was thinking of Euro Truck Simulator Lol :)
ets: a switch to drive the class 90 on an European motorway and use a steering wheel. lol
Can you do a cumbria coast route?
A great video. Enjoyed this one very much. Good to know a little bit about you too. You're not far from me as I'm live in Shoreham.
Neil Warman I was near Shoreham this weekend, I know the area well. Indeed it's not far from here :) I'm glad you enjoyed this video. Thanks for your comment as always Neil :)
Thank you for answering my question in this video :)
Wow, cool vid as always. I for one would like you to make a vid about how you go about route learning and picking out landmarks,
Blimey, I thought you had just cut the screen so we can't see the HUD.. Didn't realise you don't actually use the HUD! I use the shortened HUD and control the train using the keyboard.. You must be an expert to play without a HUD.. Respect!

excellent video! Happy you could answer my question
Luke Langlais Thank you and no problem :)
Thank you for asking my question I thought you where a train driver because you are very good at what you are doing lol.
Of course; I eagerly await your tutorial on the UK signalling. If it's the same quality as your German one, it will be good.
Silver Turtle Thank you, I hope that it will be of the same quality! :)

PTGRail No worries :-D I've been away myself, so have not been around. Will PM on FB.
Full length video that was so doped 😆😆😇
As I expected, I thought of another question as I started watching xD
Would you ever livestream one day? :P
Nice video btw! :)
Moleman978 Haha, never mind. I'll answer that one here :)

t3l3phasicworksh0p I sure can! I'm not sure what would be more challenging, the ascent or the descent lol!
You'd need all the sand off Blackpool Beach to get up that incline!
Great Q&A, nice to see something different! Can you do more? Liked and favourited! :D
JDB158 If I get enough questions I could do more! :) Thanks :)
PTGRail Is this your longest video?
Got vid anyways
Lorraine Duhaney This is indeed my longest video by around 13 minutes I think :)
Loved your funny story about the druggie woman lol.
For your idea of DLR footage, I used a GoPro. nice static camera and very secure and small. Then you could voice over that footage..
+OMG Train Also I have actually started a series of POV for the entire DLR network. So you could use that footage if required. Or do some sort of collaboration, as I have some filming equipment.
+OMG Train That's not a bad idea. I will consider it :)
Looking forward to a good ride and a Q&A!
Edwardzzzz9 Awesome! I did jumble up my words a few times.. the problem of improvising and thinking on the spot lol xD I hope you enjoy it... thanks! :)
Its good so far!
+PTGRail I would love to see real life train videos. Would love to see your knowledge on certain trains and locos!
Edwardzzzz9 It's something I'd love to do but really need to plan and work out how to go about it :)
I'm glad you mentioned the lack of coverage in Wales. I've been trying in vain to find a video of the north coast route which I got to take a few years ago on the way to Ireland and really enjoyed.

1:41:58 sounded like one of those 'and they lived happily ever after!' stories lol XD
Also 1:45:14 Class 91/DVT on the London LVP to Norwich uses the mk2 carriages I think
+Harry Nim They use MK3 carriages today! :)
Well this obviously shows that I'm really bad with the 'mk' coaches!!
Great video
Sam Rogers Thanks :)
I noticed a Royal Mail train at the first goods loop. I thought they were withdrawn a few years ago.
Paul Whitear They were, but as far as I am aware Royal Mail reinstated their contract and they are running again now.
On the subject of a scenario building tutorial it might be helpful to make it as a series, breaking the job down into a series of steps.
I love your videos
+Brian Frost thank you Brian. I really appreciate it :)
slam door trains was great i remember coming into platform open doors and jump off y the train was still coming into station as u jumped of u would have to try and match the trains speed or you would fall flat n ur face lol stuff we did as teens
Yep! I remember falling flat on my face once when getting out of a slammer before it was stopped at Eastbourne lol :p
Hello yeecheebe
Jk it’s a great vid
Excellent video could you do a class 360 EMR livery Bedford to London
What countries haven't you done many, or any routes for that you would do. if you could list a top 5, what countries rail system would you like to traverse and do virtual routes for?????
Charge between 99p and £2.99 depending on the length.
TSguy0100 I'm seriously considering it :)
On reply to your Scenario words, I think the best way to do them is one a group on Facebook. So let's say that you make a group on Facebook called PTGRail you could then upload them to that
UKTS is a great place to upload scenarios.
I agree, but I feel putting it there excludes some people due to their download policy.
PTGRail Well there's no reason you can't publish it in multiple places.
Aren't you excluding far more people by not publishing them anyway?! :P
ɷɷɷɷ Heeeeyyy Frienddsss I Have F0undd Workingggg Online Hacck visitt : - t.co/7ImXsFaIr3
I guess that the class 166's were supposed to be class 185's, but they were not included in the game.
Munro Mcskimming They were indeed.. I mentioned that when departing Eden Valley Goods Loop :)
Wrote this comment just before you stated this in the video.
when i drive the 90 i hold ; yet the ADD alarm goes off and the reset button doesn't work
Whats the story with the Networker Turbos on the WCML?
I live in Sleaford in Lincolnshire which is near Grantham and Lincoln!!!!
Will you try scenarios made by the subscribers? :)
- sorry if you mention it in the Q&A!
Harry Lewis - ExeCraft Good question.. and I didn't address it in the Q&A. The answer is yes, as long as it's not on a journey that I have already covered :)
Ah good :) I'm sure there are loads of great scenarios waiting - I'll certainly make more in my free time after exams 😁
Harry Lewis - ExeCraft Awesome.. well if you do I'm happy to check them out :)
Do you have any advice on slowing down for stations without the HUD? Such as where to idle the power, and where to apply the brakes?
Joseph Schofield I'm considering making a video to address that as this question has been asked a lot recently :)
Thanks :)
You should try to use the FEF-3. An American Steam Locomotive that.
Which do you prefer, WCML North or WCML Over Shap?
Joe Loughlin WCML over Shap as there are more stations, and in game the route has superelevated curves which aren't there on the WCML North route.
Great vid :) does anyone know how to clear the DSD (what key do I press). Thanks
babyfacedassassin4 Thanks :) And that depends on which train you are using? In the Class 90 the key is 'E' :)
PTGRail it is the class 90. Thanks a lot 😃
Which AP pack is that Freightliner class 66 (66520) reskin from at 5:35?
I think it's the WCML over Shap freight pack.
+PTGRail I went through all my AP packs a day or so after watching the video its in the FL 90 pack, i somehow missed the extra stock pack for it
***** Ahhh okay, glad you found it in the end :)
I'm creating a route learning video for the North Somerset Railway in your style.
+Joel Colyer Cool, I'm interested to see how it goes. I plan on covering that route myself soon too :)
PTGRail I ended up just memorising and not making a video.
Hi, can you play any of the train sins games online with others people playing it allso many thanks mr eastwood.
hey ptgrail, have you ever thought about investing in trackIR to make TS2015 more realistic?
The Immortal Sector Hey :) It's something I may consider in the future after upgrading this PC.
Would you be able to do any spanish scenario they are all free sabe as the trains on them
Jorge Herrero I don't think we have any Spanish routes or trains in Train Simulator? Otherwise I would :)
Just started watching this, Is it me or is the sound "popping", have you got a new mic?
Daniel Gregory At the start there was a sound problem. But after leaving Carlisle it seemed to sort itself out. The sound becomes a lot clearer. No I haven't yet got a new mic as I've had quite a few expenses to pay out for this last month, but I am certainly planning on getting one soon :)
You could use Dropbox for uploading your other 3rd Party DLC Scenarios, I have a friend that uses it and it's completely free too! :)
Lol XD
+PTGRail Lol, I know the feeling, very tiring xD
What do you prefer PTGRail ? Class 90 or Class 92?
Eventful Evening I prefer the Class 90 :)
What are your FPS settings for Bandicam?
Joe Loughlin It's set to 30fps :)
for your senarios.. see if you can partner with the guys at armstrong powerhouse.. just an idea
+UK-Sim-Reviews Haha I wish I could but I don't think they work like that. :)
You talk alot about MSTS. Would it be possible for you to feature it on the channel along side TS2015.
Etho Smith I don't play MSTS any more and I'm not sure that I could get back into it just because it looks so dated now and it's even less realistic than Train Simulator 2015.
ETS should not be on, it is just for heating passenger carriages.
And also, why are there networkers in FGW livery on this route?
+Owen Stockwood He did explain in the video that they were replacing the class 185 Transpennine Units.
Best train simulator on the market is Run8.

+Marshell George (The Growl) It's not me who wants him to sell his scenarios as he asked how he could do it and at what price as he was unsure. Please be reassured that I am not trying to force him to sell anything that he owns as he has the rights and not me.
+Cornish Gateway Please also look further down in the comments at TSguy0100 as this is also a conversation about prices :)
+Cornish Gateway Apologies for any misunderstanding
But seriously, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to give these scenarios away for money, like AP, or DP Sim. Enhancements are basically annoying when I see them on a price tag, but scenarios are taking the biscuit.
Where are the wagons from please
I think they come with the Freightliner Class 66.
Can you route learn the Medway valley line
if you don't think your entertaining enough just look at all the followers you've got that should be your answer if you wasn't entertaining I wouldn't be watching you or listening to you so I hope you do make some of your owngames up I look forward to seeing you make some games
+Keith Creasey Thanks for the comment! I've always struggled with confidence in myself, and I guess seeing so many people subscribe to this channel should be an indication of how much people like what I do :) I'm still looking in to what other games I may be able to cover in the future.
+Keith Creasey ye i agree with u go on PTG DO IT JUST DO IT
+PTGRail Well a bit late, but some idea on publishing it, if you're amenable to publishing them as freeware.
If you feel like that you could publish it at:
- Uktrainsim.com, which is a big fansite focused on british Railways of all eras, they also have a massive selection of routes and scenarios.
There is also the site Trainsanddrivers, who sell UK, US and german scenarios, might be worth a shot.
if you still don't know how much to charge for your game so a businesses course I did one quite a few years ago you will have to find out where the courses are held I hope that has helped you
What do you think of Train SIM World? I think it will be a flop.
wait, you work for a christian organization but your interests are science and technology, how does that work?
pgt rail gets gronded

+Marcus Dolton English speak you?
Please change your microphone, your voice sounds way too thin and nasal!
Phil Wood Already done. Check out my newer videos recorded after the 28th May. :)
