While this is a cool strat, the problem with RO is exactly that this is needed. Actually using a Paladin, Lord Knight, or Monk/Champion with Mental Strength to tank isn't not a winning strategy for those MVPs or dungeons and that is SILLY. RO PvE was all about: can you kill X monster before it killed you? If yes, then the other consideration was: can you fight the monster solo, or kill it faster than enemies around can/will respond? If so, that was your solo strategy around any map. No actual running with a group where intended roles absorb reduced damage, mostly holds aggro, a healer keeps that tank and everyone alive and buffed, and then damage dealers do most of the rest -- with various different kinds of support and damage in the mix. None of that mattered in PvE RO. Straight numbers game. I still have fond memories of iRO, and even a couple of private servers I played later. However, it should stay dead. After experiencing FFXIV, knowing how an MMO can respect my time, be super fun, and have balance between roles...wow.
You're not wrong there, however as much as Renewal got a lot of flak for various changes, it did a lot to encourage actual party play. I used to clear a lot of late game instances as a part of a group with the roles distribution you mentioned, playing mostly Steel Body Sura. While playing on an active server there's usually recruitment going on for one thing or another. We did run some large leveling parties in low rate pre-renewal as well, be it Niflheim during the old episodes or Thor/Nameless on the later ones.
You can make this with 2 players, each one with 2 clients. For example: Player 1: Creator + Bard (or Guns+Sage against Katryn) Player 2: High Priest + High Wizard
