Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) is a tick-borne viral illness caused by a virus from the Flavivirus family. It was first identified in 1957 in the Kyasanur Forest region of India, and since then, cases have been reported in several states across the country.
KFD is transmitted to humans primarily through the bite of infected ticks, particularly Haemaphysalis spinigera ticks. Symptoms range from mild flu-like symptoms to more severe manifestations including bleeding, gastrointestinal issues, and neurological problems.
Kyasanur Forest Disease was first identified in 1957 when a severe outbreak occurred in the Kyasanur Forest region of Karnataka, India. The disease primarily affected monkeys, causing a significant number of deaths.
Preventing Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) involves taking measures to reduce the risk of tick bites and potential exposure to infected ticks
