At the time, back in '83, you wouldn't find a better group of musicians. AS I said in Sultans, I was there and we didn't think they'd play "Telegraph", its too complicated and epic, they didn't play it. They smashed it! This was the last song, then came the encores.
The whole "Alchemy" concert was awesome, and this song was one of the best live performances ever. DS were so good live, check out "Tunnel of Love" live at Wembley, it will blow your mind, the outro is so so good
@@AceofBadeReacts If you look up the cover of their 'Brothers in Arms' album, you'll see a picture there of the guitar he used at the beginning. It's called a National Style “O” resonator guitar. It's also featured in 'Romeo and Juliet' from this tour.
This is a masterpiece (like all songs from the Dire Straits), chilling and cinematographic. In this performance I love how all instruments are in harmony and enhance the story Mark's telling (which Mark wrote while reading a book from 1920 during a bus tour in the USA), I adore the interaction between Mark and Alan during the bridge...Thank you for reacting to the best band ever, with top musicians, and to one of their best songs. Sorry to disagree but they never sound like anyone else, they are unique per se and gifted music gods guided by Mark´s geniality.
This was a stellar performance. Especially Alan Clark the pianist, he nailed it. Not surprising considering he was Tina Tuner's music director at the same time he was with Dire Straits. He also played for Phil Collins, Roger Daltrey, George Harrison, Elton John, Billy Joel and many others. He's from my hometown, and I was lucky enough to see him live several times, sadly never with Dire Straits.
From Alchemy live: you may check Once upon a time in the west and Tunnel of Love - From on the night live: Brothers in arms and Romeo and Juliet. Do not forget to check the solo carreer of Mark as well, which is very productive (Sailing to Philadelphia is a great tune - to name one)
No tricks on your eyes! The first's opening few measures he played oh his very characteristics National metal guitar. He the turned to his Strat for the remainder. We're all good! Na haluzinations....
Hey there, nice reaction and channel. Love this performance. I think you'll really like the song Calling Elvis from DIRE STRAITS- Live "On The Night" 1993. This was about a decade later and it's really interesting to compare. The song is awesome with a few surprises at the end. Cheers all the best from Australia. 👍🎸🎸🎸
assistir essa performance é como assistir um filme, um final surpreendente...chega a ser inacreditável tal criaçao, mas, ainda tem Private Investigation que é igualmente fora desse mundo...❤❤❤❤
Hy... I suggest you "Love over the gold" from the same live Alchemy and "Calling Elvis", "Brother in arms" and "On every street" from "On the night Live" (1993). Amazing!
The opening was a National Steel Guitar then switched to the Strat for the rest of the song.

Listening to the story being told, the intensity matches the lyrics. Amazing musicianship!!!👏🔥😁
It just gets more intense as the song goes on. It's great
It's not just the music, it's the lyrics...always deep and meaningful with dires straits 😎

Yeah they nailed it for sure. it's not so much they sound like anyone else, it's just Mark's singing style is akin to Bob Dylan

Wow he was a very busy person for sure
Yes, it is the encore, Mark has removed his sweat soaked jacket. He is also on his second guitar in this song.
Mark is awesome
Fab performance

Absolutely not true.
