It's because it comes from heart. While it's (almost) universally agreed that Mutya is the better vocalist, Amelle also gives a good shot on 'Gotta be You', and (in Mutya's words) arguably did a better job on the 'Red Dress' recoding, much as anything due to Mutya's personal disliking of the song (I think she does now, at least the version they do live). But this was different. Mutya had just given birth, and she dedicated this to her daughter. Hence her performance was extra special here, and the record company choosing it for re recording with Amelle was very distasteful. Amelle's performance is alright, but she just sings it like it were any old love song about a boy, when it's about a far deeper love. No hate on Amelle, but shame on the record company. It was a strong album, coulda rerecorded and released one of the other songs as a single instead.
Wow.. heard this song today on the radio while driving in cape town for the first time and in my mind im thinking this sounds like sugababes.. i was pleasantly surprised when the dj announced is was them... Love this group, im always finding myself listening to their music
The Mutya album version is still up on streaming platforms, you just have to search for it by its name and not look for it on Sugababes profile as the Amelle one is there.
2024 and this song still hits me hard. Mutya with her sultry and soulful voice is up there right along with Lauren Hill Toni Braxton Sade and the likes, for real. Love Love Love it❤
Mutya Keisha and Heidi were a strong set and this period of songs were more heartfelt yet fun to listen to even though their prior efforts and those thereafter weren’t bad either. Glad they had their time to shine but everything comes to an end for reasons which can’t simply be ignored. You do have to wonder what if; what if they remained strong and not let outside influences wreak havok or damage their bond as a group.
@@AllenMQuinn yes but the album was re-released with a new song "Now You're Gone" and new album cover with Amelle on it so it makes it harder on streaming to find which is the actual Mutya Version and which is the Amelle one. And the songs aren't labelled "Mutya Mix" or "Amelle Mix" as they should be! Haha
I love Amelle and her voice sounds amazing on Change and Catfights and Spotlights, but she doesn't hold a candle to Mutya here. They should have just re-recorded something else
@Invisible Emo You know that she was suffering with post natal depression, right? And their management was pushing her into working more than she was able to.
They didn't re-record the album (like Sweet 7 with Keisha), just a couple of tracks that were set to be future singles (Red Dress & Follow Me Home along with Gotta Be You which was a contender at one time). The album still remains mostly Mutya.
Not being funny I prefer this particular song with Mutya’s tone as it suits her voice more imo. Love Amelle btw it’s just this song and arrangement screams for Mutya tone and harmony’s.
They tried to make it too sleek. Like some espionage film or something. And the b roll of the conspiracy w the woman was just weird. It seemed kind of rushed too, like they knew ppl were asking why Mutya suddenly disappeared and they were trying to get to 'business as usual' & they ended up with a well shot mess
Ewe go to hell. Heidi is an original sugababe and was in the band for many years. The ginger one left after 1 album and said she was bullied and hated being in the group.
Mutya's version is sooooooooooo resonating to the soul!

Keisha's ad libs are perfection, as always
The song of my life... with Mutya of course. I feel like God sing it to me. Never felt that it would feel so right...
I feel that way too. Great tune

Mutya and Keyshia are a magic team when it comes to writing and vocal combo
Outraged that Spotify have decided to remove the mutya version. Her raspy vocals are everything
The Mutya album version is still up on streaming platforms, you just have to search for it by its name and not look for it on Sugababes profile as the Amelle one is there.
@@iampause not here in the US, they just have Amelle's versions their Three album isn't even on streaming here and it makes me mad
Mutyas verson is on Spotify :)
Apple Music has both versions of the album
@@dasilvafdavidnot in the US
The fact that mutyas verse is about her daughter, to me, shud mean this is the one and only version
Period. Siobhan commented she wasn't surprised when Mutya left in 2005 because she noticed how toxic the environment was

A Gem from the ''Babes''.......Never, in a Million Years would I tire of listening to this masterpiece.

Mutya Keisha and Heidi were the best lineup and as a band that was their strongest era !
True...it really makes me sad to see Heidi not recognized by Mutya and Keisha anymore
MAGIC n tearz
@@so7iane88 same I really feel like Mutya bullied Heidi. she didn't even call her to tell her she was leaving.
@@so7iane88She did that to herself. Period. And I say that respectfully. She pushed Keisha out & is still mad that it didn't stick
Mutya, always Mutya...
Mutya..Oh yes.
I love this song, hopefully they’ll perform it live one day ❤
I love this song and it annoys me that only Amelle's version is availble on Spotify, cos her vocals aren't a patch on Mutya's
Both versions of Taller in More Ways are available on Apple and Spotify.
lionel Oh wow, thanks. When I search (as opposed to going to Sugababes >) it comes up 👍🏾
@@iampause both have the amelle mix of this song though
@@DianaDuff The Mutya version of Taller in More Ways on Spotify doesn't have Amelle's version.
Mutya’s vocals slays forever
Thank for the upload. This version is so difficult to find.
Mutya's version was on the album.
I don't know why on streaming services the album cover is Mutya but the tracks are the Amelle's versions!
@@balbirsandhu7298 Because Amelle's vocals only appear in 3 tracks. The rest is Mutya.

A work of musical genius 🙌
Finally the good version

And definitely not have her rerecord a verse that was about someone else's daughter
I love both versions
Could be for a James Bond Movie
I thought it was a so disrespectful to Mutya that they re-recorded this album...

@@AllenMQuinn Mutya has said that she was hurt that they re-recorded this one because the girls knew it was a personal one for her.
@Invisible Emo Not very "emo" of you to criticise somebody struggling with depression for not making what you perceive to be a better decision, is it?
Mutya left the band though.
What a HAWT picture

Beautiful song, probably the best from that album. Shame it was hurt by a bland video and thats why its that underrated
