Soi not sure why you are crying about people not knowing WTF they are in 2021 makes very little sense.
Always be careful when cleaning a throttle body. Some of them have a "sealant" on them so the blade can seal in the closed position and you don't want to clean that off.
i bought a 2014 fj cruiser for $5k with no engine ..the owner told me the engine just burst into flames after fitting a turbo charger ..those injector fitting must be the culprit...then a i bought a toyota GD - FTV engine ...same engine use in Hilux and Prado
Larry: you may consider adding some methanol to the system; the engine would really appreciate & benefit on the really hot days out in the desert. It would also be cheap insurance in case you wind up getting fuel that isn't the best for the application (e.g. low octane, low quality, etc)
@@ikatehikes I don't know, I found that my Manual (full time 4WD FJ) has amazing traction on all surfaces even launching in snow... with a Supercharger and shorter gears I don't think it would lose traction at all. The 4WD really makes it hook up anywhere anytime.

Man you should of power washed that engine bay prior to install lol. I love this build! That was such a straight forward install. This install seemed not stressful at all lol. You guys work great together.
+1 on the power washing. A lil Gunk Engine Cleaner/Degreaser and Shine does wonders for an engine. How I keep my 2011 Honda Pilot's engine bay looking new.
My old man had a FJ40 with a 350chevy engine, manual also, caged fully road legal, winch, on board air compressor, was a hell of a unit for 4wdriving up Thomson's track Katikati side in new Zealand
Harbor freight tip of the day if your air compressor is less then 30 days old take it back and tell them you want to exchange it for a bigger one and they’ll give you full credit for the cost of yours keep up the good work 👍
If I remember correctly in 2007 it wasn't called Trail Team yet it was a TRD Special Edition. I had a black one that I put Walker Evans coil overs on. Nice Truck.
Keep the old belt in the FJ as a backup in case the new one falls off or tears itself up. (helpful unless the new belt is a different length) if the sc belt length is different then keeping an extra so you dont have to wait for one in the mail is good too
I used a breaker bar stuck against the framerail. And bumped the starter. Didn't have to take the radiator out. Sometimes the crank pulley bolt can get pretty stuck
Nice install on the supercharger. I was thinking of getting one for my 2011 FJ but I installed pedal commander instead and the throttle response was alot better than stock and it also added modes from Eco City Sport and Sport plus.
@@cdf8821 I like pedal commander and I recommend it. I know a few FJ owners that have it. I have a modded FJ with 37in tires and pedal commander made a difference on throttle response and acceleration. Also has extra modes are like most modern vehicles. Its plug and play and easy to install give It shot.
I've wanted to supercharge my 07 FJ (and my 11 4Runner) since day one. Totes jelly. Also, here's an 8-months-too-late trick you can use the next time you supercharge your FJ (jk but any time you have to remove a pulley): gorilla tape a few inches of the end of a strap half of a ratchet strap and then wrap it tightly around your pulley the opposite direction of bolt removal. Leave just enough to hook it to something solid. Now you have good backup so you can use a socket and ratchet/breaker bar (and cheater pipe). I only mention this because your impact wouldn't bust them loose. You probably could have done it without removing more than the fan shroud in the front.
Pro tip: when you have your fan and shroud out take a minute to clean the radiator fins out. Especially a good idea on an off-road rig but even cars get quite dirty over time. Compressed air usually does the trick, I've seen some pretty bad ones and used a garden hose. Best to go from inside the engine bay out.
Let me get this right...you own a 996 turbo, R32, 240z, corolla and a supercharged FJ ( these are just the cars I've seen. Are there more?). You've been able to do that by taking photos of cool cars. I recognize that they are amazing photos but holy shit. You're living a dream my friend, congratulations!
It was a dealer purchasable option until Toyota ended its affiliation with Eaton in 2015. It was branded as a TRD Supercharger here in the states too. Toyota dealers will still service TRD super chargers.

As an owner of two 07 fj 6mt's one with 34x10.5r17 and the other with 35's and no re gear, I've never felt the need for more power other than towing 6000lbs up a grade but I've always wanted to throw on a charger for the times I dont really need it hahaha. Just can never justify the price.
He’s lucky, he lives at sea level. I live at 6800 ft in my 4Runners. I have been to 1800 ft and it was like night and day. I can’t imagine being at sea level with a charger.

iam glad that u solved 2 proplems with the fj the 230hp v6 motor that its still in production it has a faliure in the intake manifold from factory theres a bolt that comes loose by time and fell in the engine and that ggs ! there was some one i used to watch his FJ is 2009 after 10 years the bolt finally entered the engine the other proplem is that just 230 hp with boost is better 😃
@James Wuertele its a plastic part in the manifold with a yellow iron bracket that holdes 2 bolts that u need to remove it and bring back the plastic part and weld it! the iron bracket gets bad and the bolts get loose and goes in the engine its a faulty prat i think in the 1GR FE engines sadly i dont have a lot of infos about it but theres vids u can check about it
We have an ‘08 FJ, we got band new stock 2015 FJ Cruiser Control arms, springs and Shock absorbers and it makes a huge difference. We would have went with aftermarket suspension if the car wasn’t for my mum 😂.
Actually, depending on the transmission, regearing can make a big difference. Acceleration might not improve that much but cruising fuel economy can be quite a bit better.

I would totally still re gear it with 4.56 gears as in time you will be truly thankful as eventually your rear Diff pinion will run smooth and destroy your Transmission over the course of about 3-5 years. I geared my 2gen Taco Manual Trans v6 4.0L truck with a Magnuson to 4.56 and the truck runs like a champ. I would not go 4.88. Final drive ratios are best at 4.56 with the Manual Transmission. Thanks for sharing and strong work🙌🏾

Ask any drivetrain specialist and they will tell you if you run your Toyota at high speeds and off-road a lot this is the end state. I have video proof and any clown can call a drive train specialist as this is a well known fact. I just kept putting my gearing change off due to constant deployments and finally had my ticket pulled at a cost of 5700. Drop a place where I can show you the receipts as I am a straight shooter, period. I dropped the comment as a friendly warning...it is up to Larry to do his research. Stop being a troll and do your research instead. If I was wrong Nitro, Sierra, and other companies would not list this as a main reason to re gear on their websites. SMH. Back to topic: Over the years it caused excessive drive train vibration and extreme wear on my gears(I did a differential drop day one of switching to larger tires to correct drivetrain angle). Side note: I served 15 years in the Navy driving Toyotas literally around the world in multiple combat zones and six different continents. We ran our Toyota’s hard and the sole reason I have the ability to tell you this is a reliable Hilux was used to extract me in Afghanistan. I have zero desire to spill BS in the comments section. Call Nitro or ANY drivetrain/gear shop and you will be told eventually not running at least 4.56 gears(Manual transmission w/ 6spd Toyota transmission or 4.88 with the Auto transmission) with 33” tires will ruin your gears and/or could/will ruin your Transmission as your rear drive shaft directly effects how your transmission shifts which is effected by how the rear differential turns the driveshaft. Continued unnecessary stress wears the gears. Also keep in mind the 5700(reman transmission 2400 or 1100 for a new input shaft, two bench differential rebuilds in SoCal 1k each with gears, new drive shaft 500-650 plus labor, depending if you go one piece custom, removal and install of the new transmission 1100 labor. I did not include the install and removal of the differentials as I am performing that portion of work as most shops in my area have a minimum 1 to 1.5 month wait for this level of labor. But I am having a shop that ordered the other parts perform the labor as I want the warranty for the parts I am purchasing though them. Back to my ring and pinion issue...when it locked up due to the gears running smooth(have video footage) the rear differential finally locked up ruining the transmission input shaft/throw out bearing. I am just one guy on the internet...Talk to a gear specialist like Nitro or Sierra gears or almost anyone who is a trained specialist who works on modified off-road vehicles. I believe those individuals will explain why a gear change is essential. #HUMINT! Do your own research and stop being a troll. Late.
Put some sort of water wetter in the radiator, and cooler system. It actually did something on my e92 m3 when i supercharged it. Also, methanol injection. Just for cooling. Makes IAT's so good. I personally wouldnt/didnt tune for it.
Years ago I installed the TRD supercharger on my brother's 99 4Runner, pretty straightforward. I can't remember how much he paid at the time, but I know he got a deal on it. Wish Honda or someone would make a straight bolt-on supercharger for my 2011 Honda Pilot. I've seen someone retrofit a GM supercharger on a 1st gen Honda Pilot, but nothing yet for the 2nd gen. Anyways, I think my next vehicle i'm getting is gonna be a 2014 FJ Cruiser when the time is right.
Looks good! I've had a Supercharged 6 MT FJ for years and it's a blast! I'll have to look into the bullydog tuner, I have OEM computer, moderate power to 3500 rpm, then it really comes in. Must be the tune..

Years ago I installed the TRD supercharger on my brother's 99 4Runner, pretty straightforward. I can't remember how much he paid at the time, but I know he got a deal on it. Wish Honda or someone would make a straight bolt-on supercharger for my 2011 Honda Pilot. I've seen someone retrofit a GM supercharger on a 1st gen Honda Pilot, but nothing yet for the 2nd gen.
Anyways, I think my next vehicle i'm getting is gonna be a 2014 FJ Cruiser when the time is right.

Looks good! I've had a Supercharged 6 MT FJ for years and it's a blast! I'll have to look into the bullydog tuner, I have OEM computer, moderate power to 3500 rpm, then it really comes in. Must be the tune..
