Looks quite charming, and being able to reach (though not exceed) the heights established by earlier greats is not a bad thing. However that shooting mechanic looks quite out of place in this genre, and frankly the number of hits needed to dispatch some enemies seems quite ridiculous. Unless there is more depth to the feature - like being able to upgrade your shots, or maybe use it for traversal somehow - then it looks like it was included just for inclusion's sake, which is poor design.

No shot upgrade. The shot works as a mechanism to force the player to make tight jumps without over jumping. Touching the enemy kills you. It's out of place a little, but they use it efficiently in the design to force the player into precision here and there.

Ah I see. Hmm I don't quite like it, there were a few times the enemy placement forced you to hang on an opposite wall to get shots in, which is a lot more tedious than just having spikes for example. Still I'm intrigued enough about the rest of the game to check it out, thanks for reviewing it :)
